we didn’t follow anybody.

We made our own path.

Starting a new company from the ground up is tough. Starting a new company that is way off the beaten path is even tougher. See, it’s easy to talk about innovation – pretty much everybody talks about it – but actually doing it is another thing entirely. We ought to know. As a family-owned, family-run company, we had a wild idea. Let’s make dog and cat food that’s all natural, grain-free and rich in meat. The convergence of dietary science and natural food found in the wild is what makes Wild Calling unique. Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids. Superfoods fruits and vegetables. Vitamins C & E. Prebiotics & Probiotics. At Wild Calling, we combine the ‘science’ with the beauty of nature and a genuine love for our pets. That’s an artistic idea. We call it ‘The Art of Nutrition’. The formulation of our diets took years, but we figure it was worth the wait, because . . . well, we love our pets. Not to toot our own horn, but it really is one heck of a line of pet food. And pet-lovers seem to agree. Already, we can’t keep our canned food on the shelves. Because of the surprising and very gratifying success of our canned line, we recently launched our dry kibble, so our family of wild products is growing, along with our reputation. One thing our customers say about us is that we’re innovators. Kind of a double-edged sword, really. On the one hand, people love a new and better product. On the other hand, well, we don’t have much of a track record yet. Still, we’re pretty comfortable with our decisions. Sure, it would have been a lot easier to follow in someone else’s footsteps; to follow the herd. But, to quote the immortal Robert Frost,

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I – I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.

Rotational diet: A survival instinct. In the wild, animals run on instinct. In the face of danger, they flee; when hungry, they hunt. But instinct isn’t mindless. It’s simply Nature’s grand plan. Like us, animals get bored eating the same thing day after day, which is why it simply isn’t done. Not to mention that with a limited diet, comes limited nutrition. A dog in the wild, for instance, doesn’t fish for trout every day of the week. No sir. A wild dog will go after a duck one day, a trout the next and a turkey the day after that. And for a darn good reason, mind you. We humans may think we have the upper hand over our four-legged friends when it comes to smarts – but instinct is the wisdom of nature, and our pets have that in spades. At Wild Calling, we don’t fight nature, we nurture it – which is why we designed all our pet foods to be rotational. Elk, trout, duck, turkey, whitefish & beef – each protein has slightly different nutrients. After all, variety is the spice of life, but to your pets, it’s a survival instinct.

all life stages: puppy through adulthood. All Wild Calling dog and cat food diets are formulated for all life stages. This means you can feed our diets from puppy all the way through senior adulthood.

Quality is our concern: trust in us. At Wild Calling we believe in using the highest quality ingredients – including hormone and antibiotic-free meat, poultry and fish. Every farmer, rancher, fisherman and producer supplying us with ingredients and products must meet or exceed our strict health, safety & quality assurance standards as well as be federally inspected & USDA/FDA approved. Our product is tested 5 times during the production process & we maintain a strict 48 hour test and hold policy on all products, meaning we don’t allow products to ship from the manufacturing facility until cleared by an independent third party laboratory.

Meat & Protein Rich: Guaranteed Great Taste. At Wild Calling we believe in grain-free nutrition. Our protein is derived from quality animal protein compared to most grain-free diets which use primarily vegetable protein. Our rich meats help create an optimal amino acid profile to support healthy muscle growth & increased energy, providing a nutrient dense diet so you feed a lot less. Better yet, we guarantee your pets will love the natural meaty taste of Wild Calling!

elk, whitefish meal & turkey meal recipe To a dog running wild in the Rocky Mountains, survival depends on meat, poultry and fish. Usually not the same meat, poultry and fish every day, but different selections from nature. One day whitefish, another day elk, and yet another a wild turkey. A wild dog lives off the land. And have you ever seen a wild dog who’s fat? No way. Rocky Mountain Medley® is a rotational diet designed for active dogs who leap streams, run up mountains and chase elk, all in their own backyards.

mountain lake™ 96% Duck Adult Dog Food

shepherd’s choice™ 96% Lamb Adult Dog Food

duck, salmon meal & lamb meal recipe 50 years ago, dog food was mostly corn disguised with a dozen different flavors. We’ve come a long way, baby. Duck?! What dog food features duck? As adults, when we have duck on the menu, it’s almost always a special occasion. But now, our dogs can have it anytime they want. Have you ever seen a dog go after a duck? Boy, it’s really something. We’ve never seen a dog catch the duck, but with Rocky Mountain Medley, things are about to change. If your dog tries to say thank you, you’ll know why.

shepherd’s choice™ 96% Lamb, Salmon, Chicken Adult Dog Food

trout, lamb meal & turkey meal recipe Hunting the right wild proteins for your dog just got easier. Bird, beast and fish, all in one package. A great variety, each meat offering slightly different proteins. Your dog doesn’t have to go out and hunt the meat, which is good, because catching wild game is not easy. Finding the right nutritional formulation wasn’t easy, either, but we did it. We overlaid some very intelligent dietary science on top of the natural food. The result? The smartest wild food in captivity, bursting with so much goodness, it’s almost uncivilized.

Beef recipe There’s just something about a dog on the front porch of a ranch house out on the Western Plains. It’s iconic. Looking at the dog, you’d never know he might have a food sensitivity. We’re limiting that by creating single-source protein meals (Turkey, Whitefish or Beef). There’s no chicken, egg, grain, gluten, yeast, corn, wheat or soy in Western Plains Stampede® diets. Come see why even sensitive dogs wolf it down.

turkey recipe Single source protein makes it easier to identify a pet’s sensitivities. If your dog is sensitive to beef, for instance, you’ll know right away and you can switch to turkey or whitefish. If your dog’s sensitive to turkey…well, you get the idea. Of course, there’s no grain in any of our products – zero – so we know it can’t be that. We have to be real careful with some dogs on account of their sensitivities. Turkey’s pretty basic, so most dogs can handle it just fine, and it’s darn tasty.

whitefish recipe Some dog-lovers raise their eyebrows at this one. Whitefish? Do dogs actually like whitefish? And is whitefish even a real fish? Okay. Well, yes, whitefish is a real fish. It’s related to salmon and trout. And dogs love it. Out in the wild, wolves will stalk the edge of a mountain river, hoping for a glimpse of a whitefish. And as you know, there’s a little wolf in every dog. Whitefish has nutrients that are very good for dogs. That made us happy, because whitefish will help make your dog healthy.

rabbit & sweet potato recipe Nutrition is a scientific concept, and therefore, it isn’t something cats can really sink their teeth into. But rabbit is. Can’t get more natural and down-to-earth than rabbit. The fact that we made it even more nutritious through dietary science is just a bonus. Rabbit. Yum. We had a cat once who chased a rabbit in the backyard every single day. For years. Never caught it, but sure tried hard. Sure wanted that rabbit. Could practically taste that rabbit. Always came up a little short. So in honor of Lizzi, Wild Calling brings you Rabbit & Sweet Potato Recipe. The only way to get fresher is if your cat actually catches the rabbit. Good luck with that.

turkey & sweet potato recipe The way cats devour our Wild Calling Turkey & Sweet Potato Recipe is positively uncivilized. They’re wild-eyed with possibility. They forget their delicate manners and become savages. Sometimes, cats catch a tiny mouse or a little bird, because cats are typically small game hunters. But turkeys are huge and generally out of their league. Except in their dreams. Imagine having a whole turkey just to themselves! Why it’s sheer heaven, that’s what it is. Our Turkey & Sweet Potato dry cat food just seems to bring out the tiger inside every cat. You know how it is when Thanksgiving rolls around and mom proudly sets the golden turkey on the table. Our turkey recipe is your cat’s version of Thanksgiving. Dig in.

jumping salmon® 96% Salmon Adult Cat Food

inland waters™ 96% Duck Adult Cat Food

salmon & sweet potato recipe In the wild, this is what cats would eat. Salmon. If they were lucky enough to catch one, that is. Takes a lot of patience. You have to sit by the stream’s edge for hours, and act disinterested. And then, in an instant, they strike like lightning. But the salmon still gets away. After all, it’s a fish story. Yep. Your cat’s chances of landing a fat, juicy salmon are slim to none. But now, you can throw a wild dinner party for your cat, with salmon on the menu! Sounds pretty upscale. Your cat may want to invite friends over, it’s just that kind of meal. “Hey, I’m having salmon tonight,” your cat brags. “What are you having?” Typically, the answer from other, disheartened cats is, “I don’t really know. Smells like something with chicken. Again.”
