The South Coast Humane Society Shelter is dedicated to saving and improving the lives of animals. We accomplish this mission through education, rescuing, sheltering, adopting and low-cost veterinary services. If you are interested in adopting a wonderful dog or cat, please think of your local Brookings shelter first! We always have a great group of animals waiting for new homes. All dogs and cats that come into the shelter have been vet checked, spayed/neutered, vaccinated and are just awaiting a forever home with someone like you. Low-cost veterinary clinics are held the first Saturday of every month, from 8 a.m. to noon. All services are low cost. In addition to first Saturday clinic, Veterinary Clinic services available by appointment. For information about clinic services, adoptions and fun volunteer opportunities, please call 541-412-0325.

The South Coast Humane Society Thrift Store welcomes customers to our new, larger store on Hwy. 101 S. in Harbor. We look forward to making your shopping experience fun and economical. Browse comfortably in each department for housewares, clothing, furniture, electronics, and more. We have something for everyone! We are primarily a volunteer-staffed facility and the proceeds from the sales fund our local Brookings-based South Coast Humane Society Shelter, including rescue and wellness programs. We are always looking for new volunteers, one hour or all day, what will for you. We always appreciate your help and support. Thrift Store hours are Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Donations are accepted on the same days, between 10:00 a.m. and 6 p.m. 1/2 off selected items every day! Watch for color of the week discounts. We want to extend a heartfelt thanks to our very, very generous community for their endless donations. Hagen’s Dry Cleaners in the Northgate Shopping Center has been serving Brookings since 1961. This October they celebrate their 54th year! Curry County’s only dry cleaning business was started by Laurence and Jean Hagen and is currently owned and operated by Ty Herron. The business cleans all types of clothing, including leather and suede, plus items such as draperies, sleeping bags and blankets. Hagen’s handles laundry, shirts and formal wear. They do all types of alterations including repairs and zipper replacement.They also do garment water-proofing and odor removal. For Gold Beach customers, the drop-off site is at Flowers by the Sea, 29730 Ellensburg Avenue for Monday pickup. The Brookings store is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Urgent Care is available 7 days per week, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., for medical conditions that require immediate attention but may not warrant a visit to the hospital Emergency Department.
