WHAT WE DO
WE DESIGN AND CREATE EXPERIENCES
WE CAPTURE AND SHARE THE STORY
WE PROVE AND IMPROVE THE IMPACT
At Wildwon, we apply experience design principles to event planning and production.
No matter what the objectives of your project, we create a valuable legacy of online and offline ar tefacts that showcase the experience and demonstrate results.
Experiences cost time, money and effort to produce. When event producers fail to amplify the impact of an event through digital media, this effort is in danger of being wasted.
Capturing rich experience through rich content lets others feel as though they were there and lets the experience you’ve created to be felt by a larger audience.
By enhancing engagement before, during and after an event, digital amplification and packaging of content ensures that your event lives on well beyond a single time, place or attendee.
Our events are set up to harness user-generated content and tell the stor y authentically. To complement this, we also produce beautiful and meaningful video, imagery and words to capture the best of an experience.
Whatever the objectives of your event, we work with you to design an experience that meets your strategic objectives, exceeds guests' expectations and lets you prove the results.
We are experts at the end-to-end design of experiences, from communications strategy to programming and curation. From logistics and execution to content creation. We believe that careful design makes for a flawless experience, beautiful, meaningful content and ultimately change in individuals and organisations. An event will be better because we have looked at the experience from every angle, and meticulously designed and planned the experience to achieve exactly what you have in mind for you and your attendees. We help you see the best possible way through a problem.
To make the most of any event we offer videography, photography, animation and sketch noting, tailoring the capture and dissemination of content to your needs. Â
We pride ourselves on taking on projects which have a positive social impact and minimal environmental footprint. We minimise your environmental impact, even as you make a deep impression.

AMP AMPLIFY FESTIVAL STAFF ENGAGEMENT “I believe that our online addiction is slowly snuffing out our ability to innovate.. more time spent online does not necessarily increase learning. In fact, the concurrent sensory deprivation may inhibit our ability to innovate in the physical world” - Annalie Killian, TEDx Melbourne Annalie, our client and Director of Innovation at AMP, runs the Amplify Festival - a weeklong festival of innovation and thought leadership - every 2 years. While the festival has always sought to inject creative thinking into the company and invest in the knowledge capital of AMP’s people, she came to us in 2013 to execute an idea with unique challenges: • • •
GET STAFF TO LEARN A NEW CRAFT: IQ of the population is increasing while the creative quotient is falling. In many industries, people no longer use their hands to solve problems. This is an issue for employee well-being and capacity for innovation. CREATE A STRATEGY FOR ENGAGING THE WHOLE OF AMP Asia Pacific, even though the Amplify Festival physically takes place in Sydney and Melbourne. HIGHER ATTENDANCE and conversion rates from registration to attendance. Past festivals have seen enthusiastic registrations but drop-offs in attendance.
HIGHLIGHTS • • • • • • • • •
6000 packs produced and distributed to 19 Asia Pacific offices 116 uploads to the digital crane wall 83 AMP submissions to individual crane photo competition 21 AMP submissions to team crane photo competition 1000+ physical cranes folded across Sydney and Melbourne locations 75 employee-made cranes used in the Sydney installation positive feedback from speakers, AMP CEO and attendees on crane installation 2 animated stop-motion videos produced 10,441 session attendees (http://amplifyeffect.com.au/)
OUR WORK
AMP AMPLIFY FESTIVAL STAFF ENGAGEMENT Our origami program pack: • was distributed to 6000 staff by their peers and/or Amplify ambassadors at each site • invited staff to engage in learning a new craft with easy instructions and a fun ‘How to Fold and Origami Crane’ animation accessible through an augmented reality app •prompted their engagement with content by printing speaker bios on origami paper • let employees contribute to crowd-created artwork in their teams and as a company • reminded staff about registration and attendance via crowd-created content strategy • inspired innovation by being a catalyst for people to connect with their team and ‘tinker’ but also arrange to attend Amplify sessions together •reminded employees Amplify is an investment in their professional development by AMP • invited them to see their crane through multiple transformations • was activated by tactical engagement events, including a demonstration at ‘HackFest’
“I was quite unsure how the crane folding would fit with other Hackfest activities but after you left I noticed that many teams continued to fold cranes while working in teams. What I learnt was this stimulates more ideas as you are working and concentrating.. it even sparked an idea for the Amplify game.. so thank you for the great work” - Melissa Foong, IT Operations Manager MULTIPLE TOUCH-POINTS THROUGHOUT THE 5 PHASE LIFE OF THE CAMPAIGN: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
employees received the interactive pack and news of its arrival via AMP’s intranet took a photo of their crane creation, entered the competition & digital crane wall saw their photo in a stop-motion animation with 100s from around the world saw 1000+ physical cranes collected at the Sydney and Melbourne offices attended the festival to see cranes used in a crowd-created installation
OUR WORK
AMP AMPLIFY FESTIVAL BRIGHT SPARKS PHD PITCH NIGHT BRIGHT SPARKS The purpose of Bright Sparks event is to connect the most innovative and ground-breaking research coming out of Australian universities with business audiences and inspire innovation at AMP. Formerly ‘Tech on Tap’, the event had been one of the highlights of AMP’s Amplify Festival. But it was still a very casual affair - with 20 pitches from university students on the top floor of the Paragon Pub.
TRAINING PROGRAM Wildwon was brought on to overhaul the quality of the event and event format so we: - ran a promotional campaign among the academic and scientific communities to call for entries and promote Bright Sparks as part of the Amplify Festival. - re-branded Tech on Tap to Bright Sparks - moved the event from the Paragon Pub to The Basement, Circular Quay - increased the number of entries from PhD students by 300% on previous event - reduced the contestant pool to 20 high-calibre finalists according to criteria we developed in collaboration with AMP - turned Bright Sparks into a program rather than an event: we put 20 finalists through a whole day of training with television journalist James Valentine, and one-on-one coaching with science communicator Daniel Keogh.
THE PITCH NIGHT - saw more than 350 people turn out to the venue including AMP staff and public - had a judging panel of 6 high-profile international Amplify Festival speakers - watched 20 varied, high quality, entertaining and informative 90-second pitches - a custom-built an app - the Cheer-o-Meter - determined the ‘People’s Choice’ winner - the crowd was entertained by MC Dan Ilic and ‘house band’ and beat-boxer Jared Jekyll View videos of the night at vimeo.com/wildwonprojects.
OUR WORK
ROYAL AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY OF NSW PRESIDENT’S MEDAL 2013 Wildwon was brought on to do the ‘sustainable styling’ of the RAS’ most prestigious award event - the President’s Medal - for 2013. Typically, we work on the end-to-end design and production of experiences and events. So a sustainable styling project was a first for us - but it couldn't have gone better! The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW came to us and asked us to theme their event.: the awards night for the 2013 President's Medal. The President's Medal is the highest prize in Sydney Royal's Fine Food, Dairy and Wine competitions and incorporates sustainability criteria into the judging. All the producers who were named as finalists had fantastic stories around thoughtful and sustainable production. RAS brief to us for the theming was to invoke a 'celebration of the seasons' . We flagged that any attempt to source and display produce from all seasons would mean that most of it was not currently be in season and so would be inherently unsustainable. We pulled together a team which included the fantastic flower experts James and Charlotte from Merrymount as well as friends and volunteers. With the help of a crowd we created a hanging floral installation, dressed the dining tables and entrance way, and created displays for the winning and finalist produce. All using only sustainable (that is: seasonal, native, foraged & local) flowers, foods and foliage. Finally, we redistributed many of the flowers and decorations to a nearby hospital so they didn't end up in the bin like they do after so many events. Check out a time lapse video of the installation at wildwon.com.au.
OUR WORK
REEL FOOD NIGHTS Wildwon created a series of events for the Youth Food Movement called ‘Reel Food Nights’. The first of the film and talks night invited 250 Sydney-siders to ‘Watch. Eat. Think.’ The Food Connect headquarters in Rozelle underwent a transformation from working warehouse to pop-up pedal-powered cinema for the night, complete with festoon solarpowered lighting, beanbags, deck chairs, and the debut of one of Sydney’s new food trucks. The evening saw a diverse crowd take part in a conversation about the future of agriculture in Australia in the context of a discussion of our rapidly ageing population of farmers, We screened ‘The Greenhorns’, a film about young people in the US returning to agriculture and food entrepreneurship. The next Reel Food Night will be held in the Rocks Windmill, where film and talks will tie together the themes of this impressive project supporting heritage, sustainability and the arts in The Rocks and Sydney.
“I was absolutely blown away by the calibre of the event, from its design, to the event management to the fantastic mix of people attending. Every detail had been considered and the execution of the event was truly impressive.” - Lauren Anderson, Innovation Director, Collaborative Consumption Highlights • 250 attendees • A pop-up cinema including screen, bike-powered generator, projector, and re-purposed furniture providing seating for 250 guests. • Off-grid energy supplied to projection and the Veggie Patch Van food truck • Instagram booth and farmer-for-a-night ‘prop-up’ projected live onto walls of the venue • Popcorn bags turned into a way to have your say on food issues and collect feedback • Half a bag of landfill rubbish • Locally sourced popcorn, beer and organic wine
OUR WORK
Food was the only fuel of the day with our riders travelling by bicycle, gear and food being transported in a cargo bike, and even a pedal-powered blender bike used to make our lunchtime smoothies. This thoughtful planning made sure this event involved zero use of fossil fuel and zero direct carbon emissions
THE RIDE ON LUNCH Objectives The Youth Food Movement (YFM) wanted to educate Sydneysiders about environmentally and socially responsibly ways of living. In particular, eating and getting around. We set out to demonstrate the ease and fun involved in taking up these new behaviours, and equipping people with the skills and friendships to implement lasting change. We also set out to grow YFM’s community and their profile in Australia and beyond. Of course, the day was required to have the lowest environmental impact possible, while having the greatest positive impact on participants, partners and the broader Sydney public.
The event We invited young foodies and the young at heart to spend a relaxed day on a bicycle, consuming food throughout Sydney’s inner city suburbs. We created a unique experience, a fun day out that brought a group of people together around food and cycling, with talks and skill-sharing around sustainability built into an enjoyable and sought after experience unlike any other. We guided our group of riders around various neighbourhood, stopping at selected venues which celebrate local and seasonal produce, and participants learned how to become more conscious consumers. Riders met farmers, gardeners, chefs and peers who share the vision of a sustainable food future. The day was an urban food adventure, a series of beautiful meals, a gathering of like-minded people, a showcase of local business, as well as an experiential learning experience with measurable sustainabilty and behavour change outcomes.

THIS IS GEORGE In 2011, the Minor Foundation for Major Challenges set a climate change communications challenge to the global creative community. Wildwon’s script was judged as one of the top 3 in the world and we received a grant and set about making our first ever animation. Since then the film has screened in Melbourne’s Federation Square for the Sustainable Living Festival, the Eco Footprints Film Festival and ‘Pop Sydney’ in Sussex Lane. Studies have shown that not enough people truly understand and/or accept the statement: "Emissions from human use of fossil energy cause climate change”. Our piece surprises, awakens and educates people about the issue.
"Spot on.. beautiful stuff ” - Leon Young, Change2 Sustainability Education and Engagement Design for desired reactions:
Creative principles:
• ‘Aha!’ • ‘So this is what it is all about’ • ‘Something has to be done about it’ • ‘I have to share this with my friends!’
• nature as character • connectedness • George ‘the everyman’ • uplifting

BEERS AND BARDS Beers and Bards at Yulli’s Screening Room features the best of Sydney’s spoken word poetry, plus craft beers and a dumpling dinner. Our community of regulars and crowd of new faces can mingle with the poets, the owners and the local brewers who come together to put on this fortnightly event. All for under $30, Beers and Bards is an affordable, lounge-room style event that gives upcoming poets a stage in a civilised setting, and helps to put Sydney’s spoken word poetry on the map and in front of new audiences, supporting this burgeoning art form and its community of artists.
“One of the best nights out I’ve had in Sydney” “Awesome night, great entertainment, great chats and always nice to see friends and connect with new ones too. Thanks for organising!” “Had a great night, let me know when it’s happening again!” Beers and Bards is held at Yulli’s Screning Room, a new space supporting local artists, performers, designers, as well as food and beverage suppliers. OUR WORK
GUERRILLA DINNER IN THE ROCKS WINDMILL Friends and strangers with curious minds were invited to bring food issues to table for the Youth Food Movement’s inaugural Guerilla Dinner. 30 guests joined the Youth Food Movement for an unforgettable evening with other amazing people who care about where their food comes from. Diners enjoyed a beautifully crafted ‘paddock to plate’ menu alongside a specially designed conversation menu, and got to know the local providers of their meal.
STRATEGY The Youth Food Movement wanted to continue to raise their profile among young people with innovative and accessible events. At the same time, as a burgeoning not-for-profit organisation they needed to diversify their revenue streams and beginning garnering support from institutional and individual sponsors. So we held two dinner events: one for the public and one for special guests. At the special guests dinner, diners were treated to ideas from the public dinner and taken through YFM’s strategy for the next 5 years. Then they were asked not for donations, but a commitment to spend an hour of their time with Alex and Joanna, the founders of the Youth Food Movement Australia, to begin a deeper conversation.
HIGHLIGHTS

JOSHUA CAPELIN FOUNDER JOSEPHMARK, SYDNEY BICYCLE FILM FESTIVAL PROJECT: REEL FOOD NIGHTS “Finding the venue for YFM's Reel Food Night was half the fun, only surpassed by the actual event itself. Awesome space, very well setup, warm and inviting. It's obvious the community that the YFM is building is very progressive, personal and committed to improving things for the better. I really enjoyed the complimentary popcorn (3 flavours) and then the quality of speakers. Hearing tales from a farmer to an educator was really interesting and rewarding for all who attended that night.”

ANNALIE KILLIAN INNOVATION DIRECTOR, AMP PROJECT: AMPLIFY FESTIVAL 2013 BRIGHT SPARKS PHD PITCH NIGHT “I approached Sally and Yvonne (Wildwon) to help me take the Amplify Festival PhD Pitch night to a whole new level in 2013. In order to raise the calibre of finalists, we wanted to attract a much larger pool of applicants, and this was the single biggest impact that they delivered, doubling the number of entries as well as expanding the diversity in the mix. They provided us with regular progress updates, a good process for quickly reviewing and short-listing the finalists and good project management in both the preparation of candidates as well as the design and execution of the event. The project was a resounding success to such an extent that we are considering making it an annual event ( its currently every two years).”
PROJECT: AMPLIFY FESTIVAL 2013 AMP STAFF ENGAGEMENT “Being an ideas person, I am always looking for people with outstanding design-thinking and execution capability to complement my small team and make magic happen. I am thrilled to find Yvonne and Sally from Wildwon who could connect with me creatively and strategically, and work independently but with a high level of collaboration with my team to deliver a bold and risky experiment in an integrated and seamless manner. Their approach is inspired, their preparation is awesome and their thinking is clear and considered. What I valued most is that they always respected the artistic integrity of the vision and didn’t compromise in the delivery - yet, worked creatively within the constraints of budget, our internal procedures to help us achieve our targets with a high-quality, high-impact and visually stunning campaign. In terms of the ROI for this project, it was an unqualified breakthrough success! Wildwon’s professionalism, openness, resourcefulness and easy-to-work-with style endeared them to the entire Amplify Festival team, and I can’t wait to use them for more projects in future.”
LIZ SMITH MANAGER, FINE FOOD, WINE & DAIRY ROYAL AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY OF NSW PROJECT: PRESIDENT’S MEDAL 2013 “It was refreshing to work with Wildwon. They brought creative, original ideas to the table and applied a dynamic approach. Wildwon created the theming for our most prestigious event, the President’s Medal. The annual award recognises agricultural excellence in Australia’s wine, dairy and fine food industries, awarding one producer each year with the accolade of the best producer in the country. Our vision for the evening was ‘seasonality’ and the feature hanging installation was a warm, welcoming, all-encompassing experience for the guests as they walked into the pavilion, perfectly capturing our theme. The subtle, delicate table arrangements and creative product displays tied the different areas in together. Wildwon’s commitment to sustainability stood them out amongst their peers and it was pleasing to know that the flowers used on the night would be donated afterwards. We would definitely work with Wildwon again.”
