A guy took his blonde girlfriend to her first football game. They had great seats right behind their team’s bench. After the game, he asked her how she liked it.. “Oh, I really liked it,” she replied, “especially the tight pants and all the big muscles, but I just couldn’t understand why they were killing each other over 25 cents.” Dumbfounded, her boyfriend asked, “What do you mean?” “Well, they flipped a coin, one team got it and then for the rest of the game, all they kept screaming was... ‘Get the quarterback! Get the quarterback!’ I’m like...Helloooooo? It’s only 25 cents!!!!”

TELL ME THIS WON’T HAPPEN TO US !!!! Two elderly ladies had been friends for many decades. Over the years, they had shared all kinds of activities and adventures. Lately, their activities had been limited to meeting a few times a week to play cards. One day, they were playing cards when one looked at the other and said, ‘Now don’t get mad at me ... I know we’ve been friends for a long time, but I just can’t think of your name! I’ve thought and thought, but I can’t remember it. Please tell me what your name is...’ Her friend glared at her for at least three minutes she just stared and glared at her. Finally she said, ‘How soon do you need to know.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND 2010 Mounds of snow and icy power lines are but a distant memory, as warm weather, large crowds, and a number of memorable events over Memorial Day Weekend helped the Wildwoods usher in another summer of fun...
VIETNAM MEMORIAL WALL UNVEILING DRAWS THOUSANDS The Vietnam Veterans Remembrance Wall, a half-sized replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C., was unveiled before a massive crowd of spectators during a ceremony at Fox Park on Saturday. An estimated crown of 10,000 people gathered to witness the dedication, which also included a fighter jet flyover, flag raisings, and rousing renditions of “God Bless America” and “The Star-Spangled Banner.” A gigantic U.S. flag was suspended from a crane above Ocean Avenue, which was closed to traffic between Montgomery and Burk Avenues. Onlookers gathered in the street, on the lawn and in the parking lot in front of the Wildwoods Convention Center, and back along the Boardwalk. It took two years for the Wildwoods’ Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 955 and American Photo: Dana Ficke Legion Byron Pennington Croker Post 184 to raise the $120,000 necessary to build the wall, upon which the names of more than 58,000 killed during the Vietnam War are engraved. The wall is located along Ocean Avenue at the southeast corner of the park, facing east (toward the Boardwalk). It is being acknowledged as the only replica of the national memorial.
FRY-EATING CHAMPION CROWNED
Photo: Morey’s
Morey’s Piers held its first annual Curley’s Fries Festival at the new Joe’s Fish Co. restaurant at Surfside Pier on Monday, with Bob Shoudt of Royersford, PA dominating the fry-eating contest. Shoudt, ranked the No. 2 competitive eater in the world by Major League Eating, consumed an amazing 7.9 lbs. of ketchup-soaked, crinkle-cut french fries in a mere 10 minutes! He took home a $2,500 prize for winning the MLE-sanctioned event.
MOREY’S GHOST SHIP DEBUTS After months of anticipation, the Moreys officially launched their new Ghost Ship attraction at Mariner’s Landing over the weekend. VIP ticket holders were the first to experience the walkthrough at a preview event - which included an elaborate opening presentation - on Friday night. It was then opened to the general public at noon on Saturday. The Ghost Ship costs 12 tickets to enter (the equivalent of $11.40), and is included in the piers’ unlimited-ride wristband program. The 25th annual Wildwood Kite Festival was another highlight of Memorial Day Weekend. Every year, kite enthusiasts from around the country descend upon 5 Mile Beach to collectively display a whirlwind of color and movement in the sky. The event featured various competitions and workshops, in addition to food and music on the beach. Check out www.skyfestivals.com for complete results!

Wildwood Mag Movie Review Sex and the City 2 Review: Married and Fabulous, question mark?
By Devon Glenn Two years after Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) said yes to Mr. Big (Chris Noth) and a pair of Manolos the fickle “Sex and the City” columnist is making up her own rules for marriage in her latest book, “I do. Do I?” while commiserating with her friends Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Samantha (Kim Cattrall) over hormone supplement cocktails instead of cosmos. With killer bodies and enviable wardrobes, the women have aged well, but that’s not to say that they’ve matured - Charlotte cries as much as her toddler while Samantha puts the “flash” in hot flashes and tells dirty jokes. The group has reunited in Connecticut to celebrate the marriage of Carrie’s “Best Gay Friend” Stanford (Willie Garson) and Charlotte’s “Best Gay Friend” Anthony (Mario Cantone). Mr. Big’s embarrassing overuse of the term “Gay Wedding” sums up the elaborate affair, complete with a men’s chorus and a cameo by Liza Minelli. Inmates in the institution of marriage, they appear to be running the asylum: Stanford has conceded to an open marriage in exchange for a dream wedding, Charlotte has hired a nanny with excellent credentials but no bra, Miranda has reconciled with Steve (David Eigenberg) only to lose herself in her career, Samantha has enhanced her sex addiction à la Suzanne Somers, and Carrie, who has made her bed in a posh Park Avenue apartment, refuses to lie in it with Mr. Big and watch black and white movies.

When Samantha offers an all-expense paid trip to Abu-Dhabi her friends are thrilled to leave married life behind and take a first class tour of “the new Middle East.” Their knowledge of the new Middle East being limited to magic carpets and Aladdin, they at least grant viewers a few geniestyle wishes like private cars, personal butlers, designer gowns, enormous hats, hummus plates, and attractive men in tiny swimsuits. Is Samantha’s blatant disregard for the UAE’s policy against public displays of affection offensive? Sure. But fans that have followed SATC as far as Los Angeles and Paris - and even as close by as the Hamptons - know that the ladies don’t function well outside of New York City. It’s no surprise when the foursome wears out its welcome. Ultimately Miranda saves the day with an Arab phrasebook and a welltimed cocktail. Even wives and mothers need a break, she concludes, whether it be locking oneself in the pantry, kissing an old flame, or flying over 6,000 miles away for a week in the desert. While most women won’t be buying this brand of escapist feminism any more than they’ll be buying a pair of harem pants, the sequel is a much-needed return to that magical metropolis where opportunities for love and success are endless and if happily ever after doesn’t work out, the door to your old apartment is always open.

An Italian walked into a bank in New York City and asked for the loan officer. He told the loan officer that he was going to Italy on business for two weeks and needed to borrow $5,000 and that he was not a depositor of the bank. The bank officer told him that the bank would need some form of security for the loan, so the Italian handed over the keys to a new Ferrari. The car was parked on the street in front of the bank. The Italian produced the title and everything checked out. The loan officer agreed to hold the car as collateral for the loan and apologized for having to charge12% interest. Later, the bank’s president and its officers all enjoyed a good laugh at the Italian for using a $250,000 Ferrari as collateral for a $5,000 loan. An employee of the bank then drove the Ferrari into the bank’s underground garage and parked it. Two weeks later, the Italian returned, repaid the $5,000 and the interest of $23.07. The loan officer said, ‘Sir, we are very happy to have had your business, and this transaction has worked out very nicely, but we are a little puzzled. While you were away, we checked you out and found that you are a multimillionaire. What puzzles us is, why would you bother to borrow $5,000?’ The Italian replied: ‘Minga, where else in New York City can I park my car for two weeks for only $23.07 and expect it to be there when I got back.
Health Tips from Dr. Einstein Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio? A: Well, if you have body and you have fat, your ratio one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio two to one, etc. Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program? A: Can’t think of single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No pain...good! AND REMEMBER . . .
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming “WOO-HOO, what a ride!!”

The Girl Around Town By Natalie Cooper The Wildwood Boardwalk . . . sooo many memories Growing up on the island, one of my favorite pastimes during the busy summers was taking trips to the Wildwood Boardwalk. Once a week, my parents would surprise my four brothers and me by packing us all in the car and carting us to the beginning of the three-mile wooden pier that dotted the coastline of the Wildwoods. As a child, I loved everything about the boardwalk, from the strips of stores located on one side of the pier, including everything from restaurants and pizza parlors, novelty shops and t-shirt stands, to tarot reading places and carnival-style game booths lining the other side. I loved making my way through the crowds of vacationers, catching whiffs of their funnel cakes and cotton candies, fresh popcorn and curly fries as I weaved in between them. I loved the oversized stuffed animals, most bigger than me, the barkers would hand me after winning at the water guns or “Fool the Guesser,” and I loved the ringing of the buzzer sounding over the chatter of people, because that assured my winning, meaning I’d get to take home a prize. But none of this compared to the joy I felt when I stood at the entrances of Morey’s Piers, waiting anxiously to enter what seemed like paradise as an eight-year-old. There’s something about Morey’s Piers that attracts people of all ages, whether vacationers or locals, and lures them through their welcoming gates, be it on Surfside Pier, Adventure Pier or Mariner’s Landing Pier. When I was eight, it was the log flume. I used to stand in line for hours to ride the log flume over and over again, even though the high drop petrified me. The fact that I could ride in a little cart over water, combined with the idea of splashing innocent bystanders when I came down the drop, amused me. My brothers and I used to think we somehow had control over which way the cart rotated when we rounded the turn that kicked the water over the edge and onto the people waiting—whoever splashed the most people had the privilege and honor to pick the next ride we went on. But it wasn’t just the log flume I loved as an eight-year-old. It was every other ride, too— everything including the traditional bumper cars and tilt-a-whirls and tea cups right down to the more modern roller coasters and fun houses and bungee jumps. It was spending the whole day relaxing in inner tubes and riding down waterslides at Morey’s Pier’s water parks, eating chicken nuggets as we floated down the Lazy River. It was leaving the water parks and packing changes of clothes so we didn’t miss an hour of amusements during the night on the pier. It was the shows, the live entertainment. It was looking out at the skyline of the whole island and trying to pinpoint my house from the top of the Ferris Wheel as it came to a peaceful standstill, while the moonlight shone down behind me over the ocean. It was everything about Morey’s Piers that made my trips to the boardwalk memorable as a child—the amusements, the water parks, the food, the games, the shows. It was the atmosphere, and it was the gathering of friends and family, bringing them together and sharing laughter. It was all of these things combined—all of these things the Morey Family has taken such pride in dreaming and visioning and creating to make the Wildwoods a renown, seaside resort—that made my experiences magical. And the Morey Family is still dreaming, visioning and creating, which is evident by their new ghost ship ride, just recently making its grand debut. At midnight last Friday, when the rest of the boardwalk was dark and deserted, when the stores were shut down and the lingering smells of carnival foods were no longer present, and the crowds of people were slowly dispersing, the Ignis Fatuus cast its anchors out onto the shores of Mariner’s Landing. Now, I haven’t been to Morey’s Piers in years—at least since I’ve been away at college (I’m a senior now)—but I was one of many to witness the latest creation developed by the Moreys. I’m not going to tell you much about the ride because I want you to experience it for yourself, but I will say that it is one of their best ideas yet, and that you should check it out! After witnessing the birth of the ghost ship and the spectacular show put on and built around it, I can say that Morey’s Piers still has a way of captivating and thrilling me, even now that I am older. Morey’s Piers continues to transition and change and grow with the times and with future generations—and with me. Morey’s Piers expands my fond memories of the piers and growing up on them, allowing me to continue to make new memories and build upon my old ones. When I left the entrances of Morey’s Piers behind me last Friday night, I still felt that joy I experienced as a child. I saw the water park. I saw the roller coasters and bumper cars and teacups. I saw my beloved log flume. And I saw new additions, too. But I also saw something else—I saw the famous Morey’s Piers that make the Wildwoods the magical, seaside resort it is—the magical, seaside resort that I can still enjoy, and the magical, seaside resort my children can one day enjoy with me.

I’ll come up and see.’ She starts up the stairs and pauses ‘Was I going up the stairs or down?’ The 92-year-old is sitting at the kitchen table having tea listening to her sisters, she shakes her head and says, ‘I sure hope I never get that forgetful, knock on wood.’ She then yells, ‘I’ll come up and help both of you as soon as I see who’s at the door.’

SIGNS THAT YOU’RE BROKE At communion you go back for seconds. You think of a lottery ticket as an investment. You’re formulating a plan to rob the food bank. Long distance companies don’t call you to switch. You give blood everyday.. just for the orange juice. McDonald’s is the supplier of all your kitchen condiments. American Express calls and says: “Leave home without it!” Your idea of a 7-course meal is taking a deep breath outside a restaurant. You’ve rolled so many pennies, you’ve formed a psychic bond with Abe Lincoln.

Drum fishing was good on both the Jersey and the Delaware sides of the bay this week. Bob Falck of Cape May, NJ weighed in a 88 pound Black Drum caught on fresh clam near Tussey Slough. Mark Holtzapfel reported “hot & heavy” Drumfish action near Tussey Slough on his Fish Nailer out of Cape May, NJ with 10 Drumfish weighing up to 80 pounds. Seabass action at the Reefs and wrecks out to 20 miles was very good with several Cod mixed in. Surf fishing remained spectacular this week with many surf anglers catching their limit. The best surf fishing has been in North Wildwood and Poverty Beach in Cape May. Rob Cruz of Cherry Hill, NJ reported a 44 pound Bass caught on fresh clam in the North Wildwood surf. Schoolie Striped Bass with some keepers in the mix are plentyful in the Wildwood Back Bays. The bait of choice is Clam, and fishing is best when boat traffic is at a minimum. Crabby Jack says the crabbing was “just mediocre” this week and gives the crabbing only two claws. He says crabbing should improve now that we are past the full moon.

Kick-off Summer at the United Way of Cape May County Cigar Dinner
Leave Your Smoking Jacket at Home. This year the United Way of Cape May County’s Cigar Dinner is celebrating the approach of summer at Westy’s Irish Pub, 101 East Walnut Avenue, North Wildwood, where friends can enjoy food, drinks and cigars in a relaxed, informal style with a view of Hereford Inlet. The popular event, scheduled for 6-10 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, is a great way to get a jumpstart on the weekend. Tickets are $55 or two for $100 and include hors d’oeuvres, dinner, two drinks (beer and house wine) and two cigars. Space is limited, so grab a group of friends and call 609-729-2002 to reserve your spot. The event helps fund United Way programs that improve the lives of Cape May County residents
You can improve your reputation as a bad apple. Looking at me now, you’d never know I used to hang with a wild bunch.

If you’re going to take advantage of the Buyer’s Market...
Do it right.
Right Now! From the bustling boardwalks to the peaceful sunsets there’s nowhere like the Jersey Shore. The beaches, the golf, the entertainment and the people make the Jersey Shore and the Wildwoods the perfect location. And there's never been a better time to buy. Check out the facts and see why it’s the right time to enter the Jersey Shore real estate market.
Pricing is Low! Home prices have lowered to reasonable levels and it’s time to take advantage of these prices.
Inventory is High! Right now, the selection of homes and condos in the Wildwoods makes it a buyers market.
Interest Rates are Low! The lowest in years, interest rates make buying a home very affordable.
Return on Investment is High! Even in an “off” market, real estate continues to appreciate in the long term.
We know what matters.
