Living Tranquil

Summer 2022 | ARCH 2021 | 3rd Year Undergrad | Charlottesville, VA | Professor Clayton Strange | Rhino & Procreate

Situated on the corner of West Main St. and Wertland St. resides university complexes and low/middle class housing. With increasing desnity among households in Charlottesville, Virginia, the project seeks to radicalize and reinvent the living life by creating an urban oasis space inspired by Central Park that served a place for peace, calmness, and tranquility. Corridors act as a boundary to escape from the noise from downtown Charlottesville activating conversations with fellow neighbors and people into the courtyard.

Accessibility Through Landscape — A Kindergarten Playspace

Spring 2023 | ARCH 3020 | 3rd Year Undergrad | Charlottesville, VA | Lecturer Cam Fullmer | Rhino, Photoshop, & Procreate

Situated on the south side of Walker Upper Elementary School campus, near Crow Pool, this project seeks to establish a new space for kindergarteners and creating an institution where non-normative people are also considered within the school, play, and everyday activities. Design elements from Jadgal Elementary school in Seyyed Bar, Iran such as public and private spaces, cozy nooks, and organic shapes, have been intergrated throughout the institution and landscape.

Portal: Through Skies and Caverns

Fall 2023 | ARCH 4010 | 4th Year Undergrad | Philadelphia, PA | Professor WG Clark | Rhino, Grasshopper, Photoshop, & Procreate William Penn designed the city of Philadelphia based on two main ideas: a building and park. This community place within Old City is located along 2nd North St. and along one of the oldest inhabitated roads: Elfreth’s Alley. Orientated from lightness to darkness, the two plots act as a portal along Elfreth’s Alley, merging underground creating a welcoming space for anyone that merge underground. People of the Old City come together to explore, express, and interact with one another to share cultural artifacts and crafts.

Immersive Place: Built Environment for People with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Spring 2024 | ARCH 4020 | Independent Design Research Studio | Lorton, VA | Professor Schaeffer Somers | Rhino, Illustrator, & Photoshop

The project is based on the familiarity context that I grew up in Lorton, Virginia. This facilitiy is a place for people on the autism spectrum to learn and practice life and social skills throughout the therapeutic building, garden, and trail. Furthermore, the project will utilize Dr. Magda Mostafa’s The Autism ASPECTSS Design Index principles by incorporating sensory friendly escape spaces.

Therapeutic Building Entrance Perspective

Acoustics

Implemented within the space are adjustable lighting, color, and sound system. Wall and ceiling gym mats and sound proof panels destimulate sensory overload.

Spatial Sequencing

Curved walls leads people to the orthogonal edges and reminds people of the start and end of main entry point.

Escape Space

The design was to create a direct circulation to escape while also creating privacy.

Compartmentalization

Each escape spaces along the trail are 500‘ apart to ensure immediate usage from overwhelming environment.

Transitions

The ultimate goal was to create a private escape space from a public setting. Curtains, light dectection, and used/not used signs inform people before entering.

Sensory Zoning

Under the seat and side wall storage contains high and low stimulated tools such as a trampoline or headphones.

Safety

Surrounded by newly constructed neighborhood and not far but within forest ensures privacy.
