Dead Rising 4: A good game for newcomers; a disappointment for huge fans Video games today have been streamlined to accommodate newcomers, and in return, some aspects of these video games sometimes fail to deliver, especially if it already has a huge fan base. A big example of a streamlined video game is Fallout 4. It is a decent game on its own and newcomers actually like the game as it is. However, fans of the series never liked how the skill tree has become linear and the vague dialogue choices. Despite this, it is still well-liked by the majority because there are new things to do in the game.
Sadly, this is not the case for Dead Rising 4. Capcom deliberately told in their interviews about how they wanted to go back to the roots of Dead Rising series since Dead Rising 3 had some mixed reviews among critics and fans. Launch day came, and voila! It turns out that Dead Rising 4 was the complete opposite of
what Capcom has been saying all along. Newcomers definitely love this new game of the series, because it does not have a constricted timer. On the other hand, the game has gotten several backlashes from long-time fans of the series because they feel like Dead Rising 4 has lost its Dead Rising feeling by removing the timer. I admit, I truly prefer having to explore the Dead Rising world without being too restricted because there is a timer. It was a huge turn-off for me when I first played Dead Rising 2 because I had to go to the perfect place at the perfect time. If you are a fan of the timer, there is an actual DLC for it, and there is a new storyline that is connected with the base game’s story. Despite the lack of a timer , Dead Rising 4 is mostly the same as Dead Rising 3. You can create anything you want on the get-go, which is extremely handy compared to the work bench in Dead Rising 2. Several new weapons, secrets, and it definitely has more zombies. It is the same Dead Rising we know and love with few tweaks here and there, but nothing really exceptional. Rescued survivors do not need to be escorted to be completely saved. Apparently, they can now do it on their own. The main character also can now regenerate health. The tension and difficulty that we used to have in previous Dead Rising games are now gone.
All is not lost, though, since Capcom decided to bring back the infamous Frank West, the lead character of the first game. However, since the game takes place 16 years after the first game, they had to look for another voice actor to reflect that Frank has aged in this game. He is still goofy and humorous most of the time, though. Dead Rising 4 is definitely the easiest game of the series, but it is directed to the audience who just wants to explore the Dead Rising world without a care in the world. The story is well-executed, though, which is a surprise for a goofy game such as this. If you are looking for a zombie game that is all about killing zombies, then this is definitely worth your money. But I really enjoy the game and thanks to UkinGame to introduce such a nice game.
