Famous people from West Drayton region Buying a property from Oakwood Estates in West Drayton means that you're probably just a few steps, or a couple of miles, from the rich and famous. Little did you realise the region has been a hotspot for a host of stars from stage, screen and music? Who knows, when you relocate here you could be rubbing shoulders with a celeb. Ronnie Wood: Guitarist in rock bands the Rolling Stones and The Faces, was born in West Drayton. The English rocker, singer, songwriter, artist and radio personality was also a member of Faces and the Jeff Beck Group. Julian Rhind-Tutt: A West Drayton-born actor with credits for appearing in over 50 radio productions and lending his voice to numerous audiobooks and TV


shows. He is also an actor and producer, known for Lucy (2014), Rush (2013) and Notting Hill (1999). Jane Seymour:The Hillingdon-born Bond girl (Live and Let Live) and the star of "Dr Quinn Medicine Woman". She was born Joyce Penelope Wilhelmina Frankenberg to a doctor father and nurse mother. Seymour worked as a ballet dancer before making her film debut as a chorus girl in 1968's Oh! What A Lovely War. After the Bond film, she spent much of the '70s and '80s portraying uppercrust vamps in films and on TV. Les Nind: A talented self-taught artist, founder of Yiewsley and West Drayton Arts Council, as well as West Drayton's Ambassador of Art and influential in helping to set up a district art centre. Sir Allen Lane: A publisher, publisher, who together with V. K. Krishna Menon and his brothers Richard and John Lane, founded Penguin Books, bringing highquality paperback fiction and non-fiction to the mass market. Greg Dyke:The ex-Director General of the BBC before resigning in the wake of the Hutton inquiry which criticised the BBC.Greg, who grew up and went to school in nearby Hillingdon, was a former boss of LWT and Pearson TV. He was once a reporter for the defunct Hillingdon Mirror. Claire Richards:A member of the ever popular Steps band now enjoying a comeback. Born in Hillingdon, she was a singer in Steps from 1997 until Richards left the band resulting in the band splitting shortly after in 2001. Huw Higginson: An English actor who played PC George Garfield in TV's The Bill from 1989 to 1999. The Hillingdon-born actor has also appeared in Heartbeat, EastEnders and Casualty.
