BEE HOME CHILD CARE CENTRE The Childcare centre is a new refurbishment proposalfor the Childcare Facility Swinburne. The childcare centre will be renaming by “Bee Home Child care centre” and the concept of the building are hexagonal bee shape. Bee Home Child care centre consist of only one floor. It requires 2 toddler classroom, 1 baby sleeping room, a sick room, breakfast area, office room, communal room, toilet for the children and also the adults. Bee Home Child care centre is designed in a way where the teachers can look after the children inside and also view from the outside of the school. The child care is structure in a way there it combines the interior and the terrace timber cladding. It therefore creates a unique character. The large window from the toddler’s class room breaks through the exterior of the building which interlocked in a way that would kept the children detached from the interior space.

DESCRIPTION OF THE BUILDING The Exhibition Design building is located in Batman Park just on the right hand side of the tower. The material used for the exterior of the building is made out of Corten steel. The reason why this material has been chosen is because the rusted steel colour shows a good integration with nature. The building consists of two levels which requires a restaurant and three different space. From the ground floor, it shows different types of exposition such as the history of Melbourne and Australia. The artwork has been displayed like a timeline from the 1800s till the 1900s century. In the second floor, there are two galleries which consist the 20th century and the 21st century exposition. The concept is to create a mood and a sense of experience in this time period. The exposition can be changing from time to time but the time period would stay the same according to the three spaces. SITE PLAN- BUILDING LOCATION

Task 2- Site Analysis ST SKILDA SITE ANALYSIS

Site Level The site level is very important for the construction of the building. The diagram shows the different site levels and also for the surrounding area.

The St Kilda beach is found 6 km away from the city of Melbourne. It is consider as one of Melbourne’s favourite beach side and there are many attraction there. There is the Luna Park, the Palais theatre, the Astor theatre is considered to be an icon for the St Kilda Beach. There is the tram and buses which is just a few minutes’ walk to the beach. There is also a wide range paddle boarding, sailing boat, jet skiing, snorkelling and also skydiving. (St Kilda Tourism Association, 2014) Moreover, there are a variety of restaurants, bars and cafes in the area. Thus, this is a perfect place to enjoy your weekend after a tiring week

Sun Path From the site plan, we can analyze that the sun is making an anti-clockwise direction. While visiting the site, we realize that the temperature gets higher around 3:00pm in the afternoon. This would be a perfect time for tanning on the beach. Around 6 o’clock in the afternoon, we can admire the sunset at the beach.

Noise

The dimension of the site

There are noise everywhere coming from the road, the sea, the restaurant and the pedestrian road. In the morning around 9 o’clock, the road is busy due to the fact that everyone is going to work. Thus we can hear the horn and engine of the car, and also the tram from the road. We can also hear people talking on the pedestrian road. Moreover, there is the pleasant noise of the wave from the sea which makes it a place for peace when sleeping at night. There also noise coming from the restaurant while people are working at the back of the restaurant. bottles and so on. We can also hear people skating on the left hand side of the site plan.

Road Noise

Sea Noise

Circulation For the circulation, we can analyze from the site the purple colour which has been highlighted from the site plan. As said previously from the day around 9 o’clock. Around 7 o’clock at night, we have analyze that the road is more movable compare during the morning. The blue colour shown from the site plan are the pedestrian circulation. Most of the people would rather circulate around the sand for tanning.

RESIDENTIAL BEACH HOUSE The vacation house is located in St Kilda beach which is found 6km away from the city of Melbourne. The concept which I would like to show is the connection with the interior space and nature so the people from the inside can have an experience of pureness and oneness. It is therefore a new way of seeing nature. This concept would be seen through the materials used and also the rooms such as the bathroom and the open air space. By also having natural materials such as driftwood and bamboo, and also with the large windows which gives us the opportunity to see the magnifying view of the sea from the outside, it allows us a new sense of experience with man and nature. The vacation house has two storeys. On the ground floor, there is a garage, an entry, a powder room, a laundry and guestroom with its bathroom. There is a large open volume containing a kitchen, dining room and kitchen to enjoy the rare commodity of open view of the sea and the sky. There are three large sliding doors openings on track recessed into the floor and stacked away either end to create an essential indoor and outdoor living space. On the first floor, there is a balcony accompanied with a barbeque galore. There is that open of the living space which allows us enjoy the movement and the beach of St Kilda. The master bedroom which is located on the first floor with a unique bathroom which allows us to take a shower in open air without any intimacy.

REFURBISHMENT OF THE UN BUILDING SUSTAINABLE DESIGN DESIGN INTENT The UN building is a building in Swinburne University campus which consist of 5 levels. The level 1 is a cafeteria, level 2 a bookshop, level 3 a bar with a beer garden and level 4 is the student union office. Melbourne has a housing crisis of a lack of affordable accommodation. Since there has been a rise in living cost, many students need an accommodation which requires cheap lodging closer to Swinburne in order for long working hours. A new capsule hotel has been located in level 4 next to the student union office and also on level 5 with a roof garden. The capsule hotel is a sustainable typology as it uses space and resources efficiently. The capsule hotel is being a proposal which go further showcase of the lowest energy appliances and therefore serve a prototype of low/ NO energy living.

STUDENT DORMITORY FOR SWINBURNE UNIVERSITY CAMPUS Swinburne University Campus need small spaces for students who need short term stay as a matter of emergency. The student dormitory is situated at 4 Paterson Street near the University Campus. The concept of the building is in a modular structure with simplicity and systematic aspects of parametric design. The structure of the conventional housing consists of 4 levels that accommodates spaces and facilities such as an entry lobby, library, study room, bookshop, breakfast amenities, seminar room, elevator, stair for emergency exit, and self-apartment units. There is also a balcony in level 1 and a roof garden on the level 4 of the building.
