TA K E O N E
Welcome from Christopher Byrne
Welcome to our 2016 Autumn / Winter Lifestyle Magazine. 2016 is shaping up to be an exciting year with lots of activities and events planned to keep you and your friends entertained. This newsletter outlines the upcoming events in more detail. If you have visited the club in recent months, you will notice that we have undertaken some renovation works in our gaming room. These works were undertaken with minimal disruption to members. We have had a positive response to these upgrade works. If you haven’t seen the changes drop by soon and have a look. As part of our reinvestment program into club facilities, it is our intention to start an upgrade of the members lounge area in 2016. In addition, we have started the process of planning an outdoor alfresco area at the rear of the club on the vacant land owned by the Club. If all goes to plan, we hope to have this project completed by the end of 2016. Once completed, this area will give members a new `alfresco’ family friendly area to relax and enjoy the club facilities. In the coming few months, we have some very exciting shows and events coming up for Members including Easter Hampers to give away, Membership Drive Prizes, Football Tipping and School Holiday Activities.
The Melbourne International Comedy Festival is just around the corner and once again, Yarraville Laughs will be a large part of the festival with some fantastic Live Acts. Check out our calendar and book yourself into a show. All the show details are on our website www.yarravilleclub.com.au or call the club for an update. Our popular members BBQ’s will continue again this year as well as TV coverage of all AFL Matches during the season. I would like to thank all the Yarraville Club and Pekish staff for their fantastic efforts over the Christmas and New Year period. This time of year is always hectic and can at times be a little stressful. As always, the staff continue to put on a smile and serve you the member to the best of their ability. I look forward to meeting lots of members around the club this year. When you are next in the club, make yourself known to me. Yours sincerely.

With over 17 years experience in the Bar and Club Industry, Julie brings a wealth of experience with her to the Yarraville Club. As a side business, Julie runs “Vegas Karaoke” and she can certainly belt out a tune with the best of them, aside from her regular gigs , Vegas Karaoke is for hire for all occasions. Julie is currently partaking in the Worlds Greatest Shave. For our more observant customers, you will have noticed that Julie shaved the sides of her head as a dare for a donation to the cause. You will also notice the rainbow of colours Julie has been dying her hair lately. All in the name of the worthy cause – fundraising for those who have blood cancer. Julie has the collection boxes on the bar and is up for hair challenges for donations. Next time you drop by, say ‘Hi’ to Julie.

GAMING ROOM UPDATE
YARRAVILLE
In January, renovations were completed in the Gaming Room. The builders all worked around the clock to make sure there was as little disruption to customers and works were completed with 3 days. Thank you to Kate and all her staff who also stayed at the Club around the clock to make sure everything ran smoothly and we were able to open the area up to customers as soon as possible. We have had a very positive response to these upgrades, and invite you all to come along and check them out.
Anglicare 2015 was another successful year for the Anglicare Christmas Gift Appeal with the generosity of the Yarraville Club Members, Staff and Visitors making this one of the biggest appeals ever. A record number of gifts were purchased and put under the tree for the kids in need. Well done to the Anglicare Team who work tirelessly to make this happen each Christmas and put a smile on faces around the community, and a big thank you to all customers & staff of Yarraville Club who donated gifts.
Remembrance Day The Yarraville Sub Branch RSL held a Remembrance Day Service at Yarraville Club on Wednesday 11th November. There was a great turn out as Glenn Hollibone led the proceedings before Wreaths were laid outside. Yarraville Club continue their support of the RSL Sub Branch.

Yarraville Laughs & Yarraville Live shows continue to attract huge crowds and we were proud to host some fantastic acts during the last half 2015 Top acts such as Felicity Ward, Sammy J, Aunty Donna, Judith Lucy & Hannah Gadsby kept the laughs coming. The finale for the year was an outstanding one-off special for Yarraville Laughs with Adam Zwar’s ABC “Agony Live” adaptation live on stage. The panel consisted of the extremely talented line-up of Lawrence Mooney, Celia Pacquola, Sam Pang and Meshel Laurie. The Christmas Cracker Show for 2015 was a huge night of entertainment with 2 shows in the one night entertaining hundreds of fans.
Richard Stubbs and more, performed to a sell-out crowd and we could not have asked for a better way to celebrate. A fitting way to start 2016 Yarraville Laughs and we look forward to bringing more great acts during the year. Yarraville Live put on a fantastic show which saw Wendy Stapleton perform a great tribute to Dusty Springfield. After a huge turn-out we hope to be able to get this show back at a later stage in the year.
Yarraville Live continued to entertain music fans with a vast array of shows in the last half of 2015. One of our favourite’s Tex Perkins together with Charlie Owens returned in October and as always did not disappoint his loyal following. In November we welcomed the amazing, Renee Geyer, Australia’s most respected and successful soul singer. The fans that came out to see Renee were certainly not disappointed as she delivered a beautiful rendition of her now famous list of chart topping hits spanning over 30 years. Another one of Australia’s favourite performers, Normie Rowe together with a talented supporting 12 piece band, performed his chart toppers to an adoring crowd. Everyone remembered his huge and famous songs and happily sang and danced along with Normie who engaged the crowd like the Pop King that he is. To end the year and bring in 2016, our traditional NYE Yarraville Live event featured a Joe Cocker Tribute Show “Leave Your Hat On”. What a fantastic night for all who attended. The dance floor was rocking and the talent of all the musicians shone through as they belted out Joe Cocker’s favourite and famous tunes. Happy 3rd Birthday Yarraville Laughs!! On 27th February we were excited to host 10 Super Comedians for an amazing birthday party show. These brilliant acts, including Tony Martin, Cal Wilson,

Another Comedy Festival performance that we have secured for a one off show, is Michael Griffiths performing songs by Madonna. This show has had fantastic reviews so get on line and secure your booking fast. On ending the year, and continuing on in 2016, on behalf of James Young & Matthew Hardy, once again thank you all for attending these great shows that we are very proud of and love bringing to the local community. www.yarravilleclub.com.au www.yarravillelaughs.com www.yarravillelive.com Keep Rocking & Keep Laughing

Yarraville Club and Pekish are pleased to once again be involved in the Seddon Community Bank 2016 Community Pitch. The event will be hosted at the Club on Wednesday 11th May 2016.
YARRAVILLE
The Community Pitch event is back in 2016! Last year the Seddon Community Bank together with 10 local businesses launched the inaugural Community Pitch. We were pleased to be one of those lucky businesses and we are thrilled to be back on board again in 2016. The format is simple, 18 community groups have 3 minutes to ‘pitch’ their project to the community and local businesses. Each business contributes $550 (including GST) and they decide which group/s receive their funding. The Seddon Community Bank has kicked off the campaign with a $7,000 contribution. In addition, the Yarraville Club is contributing $5,000. If you wish to become a Pitch Partner or you are interested in applying as a community group, please contact the Seddon Community Bank’s Executive Officer, Kate Shedden on 0411 324 343 or eo.iwce@gmail.com, or the Business Development Manager, Darren Hodge, on 0435 535 447 or darren.hodge@bendigoadelaide.com.au
Please show your support and help us to help volunteers and organisations as they work tirelessly to raise money for excellent causes.

The Yarraville Club & Pekish hosted a great evening of entertainment on Saturday 20th February. The event was organised by Williamstown Rotary and all guests were treated to a fantastic performance by Damian Mullin as Elvis. All proceeds of the night went the Rotary Cancer Wellness Centre and Ovarian Cancer Research. The event was a huge success and once again, a great community effort by the team at Williamstown Rotary.

The Barefoot Investor bi-monthly meet ups continue to grow and be a success in the second half of 2015. The event provides a non-judgemental forum for like-minded people to come and discuss all things money, property, stocks and finance over a drink or two. Now at every second event, talks are given on topics as a free value add and knowledge is provided help to those who attended with a strict no-sell policy with the presenters. The feedback on these events has been great and very positive. It has provided an excellent forum for people to talk about generally taboo topics and really help each other. All Club Members are welcome to attend.
