AUSSIE PET Benefits Of Using A Martingale Collar
About The Author I live with my partner and our three pups in the Aussie outback. We live in a stone built house in an apple grove surrounded by hills. We live off grid and my dogs are outdoors a lot of the time.
Aussie Pet Blog This site is everything about our lives with the dogs. It will be a rational insight into the ups and downs of dog ownership and the joys and sorrows that go along with it. At times difficult, at times thought provoking but hopefully most often enjoyable.
Dog Training Our land is not fenced and mostly the pups are outdoors and fortunately remain nearby to the home. They have the environment to play in but even then that sometimes isn't enough for our furry children. They still have to be naughty on a regular basis!

Martingale Dog Collar Martingale collars are designed particularly for pups with heads that are smaller than their necks. These dog collars softly tighten against the dog's neck if they pull, back up or spin around. The martingale collar gently tightens if the dog pulls or tries to back out the collar. A martingale is generally made out of fabric or nylon that creates a circle like most collars but also has a semicircular shape on the back that is formed by an additional section of the same fabric. The larger loop of the collar fits around the canine's neck and the smaller loop lies at the back of the neck and has a D-ring which connects to the lead. When relaxed, the collar fits loosely and keeps your dog comfortable. However, when the dog tries to drag, the secondary loop secures the fabric around the dog's neck for a gentle no-pull effect.

Martingale Collar Pros More Comfortable - Martingale dog collars perform much the same method as a choke collar yet without any metal against the dog's skin. It also tends to include a soft fabric or plastic to create the pull rather than a metallic chain.
Disadvantages of the Martingale Collar
Pups are much less prone to choke when using a martingale collar versus a choke dog collar. To keep control of a dog who charges the gate or to leave the house whenever a visitor drops by. It also reduces lead pulling.
Martingale collars are definitely not as efficient with bull necked dogs as they have much less of an impact on the dog. But, compared to choke collars, martingales can be used on more fragile necked canines like greyhounds but not recommended for extremely tiny dogs. Martingales should also never be left on twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. There are significantly less doubters of the martingale collar in contrast to the pinch and choke collars. The softer material and lower pressure of the martingale collar against a hounds neck is the reason for such a lower amount of critical remarks. The danger of the canine suffocating when left without supervision results from the fact that if the D-ring on the collar catches on something, the collar will tighten and possibly suffocate the dog. But, when the collar fits correctly and is used only periodically, the martingale collar can be a very useful training solution. aussiepet.wixsite.com/news
