about us
Sydney’s Type Factory is one Australia’s premier type and art spaces, located in the historic former Lino Type factory on George Street. Established in 2011 by arts patron Leo Christie, Type Factory has been the primary catalyst in the redevelopment of the values and appreciation of typography in Australia. Type Factory also actively contributes to Sydney’s lively cultural debate by hosting regular, design and typography conferences where guest speakers discuss issues that affect typography and design in Australia. Come along and share in these inspiring and sometimes challenging forums.

Alexander Rodchenko
Rodchenko was one of the most versatile Constructivist and Productivist artists to emerge after the Russian Revolution. He worked as a painter and graphic designer before turning to photomontage and photography. His photography was socially engaged, formally innovative, and opposed to a painterly aesthetic. Concerned with the need for analytical-documentary photo series, he often shot his subjects from odd angles, usually high above or below, to shock the viewer and to postpone recognition.
