Dear Parent/Carer Year 3 Real Project – Metal Workshop Year 3 children have been very busy creating their own metal work to help raise money for the British Heart Foundation. A Local jeweller called Alex came into school to give the children and parents a workshop in metal. We are looking forward to seeing the wonderful outcomes. Well done Year 3.

Parking Please do not park at the bottom of the school driveway. This may be needed for emergency vehicles and is regularly used by coaches when the children go on educational visits and parked cars make it difficult to access the school grounds. Our concerns have been shared with the Police and parking patrols are planned.

New Dinner Menu

After half-term – starting on Monday, 29th April, 2019 there will be a new dinner menu for your child to choose from. As always any chicken meal on the menu your child will be able to request Halal or Non Halal chicken. A copy of the new menus will be available to view on the school website after half-term OR alternatively you can request a paper copy from reception. Thank you.

Illam Hall Residential On Monday, 25th March the Year 4 children took part in a residential visit to Illam Hall in Derbyshire. The children were able to explore Illam taking part in Orienteering, team building task, walking and fossil hunting. Thank you to all the children, parents/carers and staff for making this a successful and enjoyable trip.

Easter Celebration On Tuesday, 9th April, 2019 we held our Easter Celebration that was enjoyed by everyone who came to join us and took part in it. The children performed wonderfully sharing their musical talents. Thank you to all parents who came to join us for our service.

Pupil Voice Recently we carried out a pupil voice questionnaire and I thought that it would be interesting to share the children’s views of school with you. Pupils were able to identify what makes a good learner - listening, being on task, ignoring distractions and being ready to learn. They were able to explain how the learning skills helped them with their learning and identified that it was important to reflect on their learning and be resilient. Pupils could talk about how they were independent in the classroom, identifying resources readily available to them to support their learning such as their learning journey and spelling try books. All pupils knew that learning should be challenging as ‘this is how you learn’. Pupils discuss their learning with their class teacher; sometimes this is individually, other times it is as a group. They know when they are doing well in their learning as they are praised by their class teacher or are chosen to share their learning in assembly. Pupils feel that they are involved in the planning of their topics as they are asked to complete some research prior to starting it. Pupils explained the importance of home learning, that it is in place to support their learning in class and that they can use the skills they practise at home in lessons. Pupils feel that all staff have the same expectations of them across school. During the summer term we will be doing some more work around pupil voice in school and working to improve in some of the areas identified by the children which have mostly been around their views on behaviour. We will be looking at kindness, what makes a good friend, identifying feelings, knowing that feelings are normal and OK and how best to deal with them. Have a lovely Easter break everyone! We all look forward to hearing about what you have been up to over the two weeks and welcome you back on 29th April.
