Dear Parent/Carer Chinese New Year The children in school have been learning about the Chinese New Year (25th January, 2020). Year 6 created paintings using colour mixing skills to paint the Chinese cherry blossoms These can be found in homes during Chinese New Year and represent the earth coming back to life and wishes for prosperous new beginnings. Year 5 took part in a scavenger hunt to find fractions word problems and Year 4 learnt about Tangram puzzles by using 7 pieces to make lots of shapes. These were all based around the Chinese New Year and all the exciting traditions
Kelham Island On a very cold wet Tuesday, 11th February the Year 6 children visited Kelham Island Museum in Sheffield to learn all about World War Two which links to their learning in school this term. The children and staff dressed up in some wonderful costumes – we had evacuees, land girls and members of the home guard!
Parking Outside School Parking continues to be a cause for concern – please be considerate of our neighbours and school community when parking your car outside school. Allow space for all to walk safely on the pavements and to cross the roads. Please think of the whole school community and keep all our children safe. Thank you.
Y3 Steel Poem On Tuesday morning Y3S had a living steel workshop provided by our local library service. We generated poetry outcomes from this. Here is our class poem… Steel is in the Sheffield City Molten steel popping like bubblegum, With a bubble and a bang and a crackle, A shining fire like the sun, Shimmering, shine like the sun, Steel burns in a lot of time, The furnace burns loud like bombs Banging like fireworks, Melting mould and glimmering gold Burning steel, into the mould like a waterfall, The finished steel is as shiny as a diamond, How do you feel when you touch steel? Real steel feels hard, Let’s cheer for what we have done here!
Internet Safety Tuesday 11th February was Internet Safety Day. Please discuss how to stay safe online with your child to support the work that we have been doing in class. The Power Project at www.rotherhampower.co.uk has information and resources to support you with this.
