Dear Parent/Carer

Welcome back and Happy New Year everyone! We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break. Young Voices The Young Voices children had an amazing afternoon and evening on Tuesday, 8th January, 2019. The afternoon was spent rehearsing along with 4500 other children from school across the country, and in the evening we performed in a sold out arena. Well done to all of the children we hope you enjoyed the singing and dancing.

Reminder for Parents - Our Dress Code Uniform We are a uniformed school. Correct Uniform is: - White polo shirt or cotton shirt - Royal blue sweatshirt or cardigan with or without the school logo - Black/grey trousers/skirts/pinafore dress - Blue gingham dress - Grey/black tights (no bright colours) - Black trainers with no coloured markings/sturdy shoes (no sandals or heels) Boots may be worn in winter - no Ugg style boots. Please ensure that your child wears the correct uniform to school. Incorrect uniform will result in negative dojos.

PE Kit PE kit should be available in school from a Monday to a Friday. - White t-shirt - Black shorts/tracksuit bottoms for outdoor PE - Pumps/trainers - a separate pair for PE - Girls long hair must be tied back for PE - Earrings must be removed for health and safety reasons.

Hair colour and styles We ask that children do not come to school with “extreme hairstyles. This includes: Mohican styles, hair extensions, shaved patterns or anything other than naturally coloured hair. Any patterns etc should be kept for the holidays so that they can grow out before returning to school. Novelty headbands are also not permitted. This includes the large bows (jo-jo bows) as they can be a distraction during lessons and are also a safety risk.

Nails Children are not allowed to wear false nails/nail extensions in school due to health and safety. We ask that painted nails are kept for a treat in the holidays.

Jewellery The only jewellery permitted in school is a small pair of ear studs and a wrist watch. Fitness monitors are not allowed. We ask children to remove these during PE sessions for health and safety reasons. They must be able to do this themselves. If your child wants to have their ears pierced please wait until the 6 weeks holidays so that they can be healed before returning to school. School accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to earrings or watches.

Absence Holidays in Term Time We do not authorise holidays in term time. These absences will be recorded as unauthorised and you may face a fine from the local authority. You do, however, have a safeguarding obligation to inform school if you are taking your child out of school. Illness You must inform school of your child’s illness on the first day’s absence and any subsequent days. Attendance School’s attendance target is 96%. We monitor attendance using the SOL attendance procedures and will make contact with you if your child’s attendance drops below 97% in the first instance. If it continues to drop then medical evidence will be required to authorise any future absence by way of an appointment card from the GP for every absence. Dogs on Premises Reminder: dogs are not permitted within the school grounds, even if carried. Thank you for your understanding.

Safeguarding Door Opening Times Staff will be on the playground to Meet and Greet from 8.40am.The whistle is blown at 8.50am and the children come into school. Children must walk their bike/scooter to the shelter each morning and back to the school gate at home time: they must not be ridden in school grounds. Riding in the school grounds will result in a warning in the first instance and then a ban from bringing them into school if it happens again. Bikes and scooters are left at your own risk. Picking up at Hometime The school day ends at 3.20p.m. All children in Years 3 and 4 should be collected by a responsible adult over 16.
