Dear Parent/Carer Children’s Author David Lawrence Jones The school was visited by a local Children’s Author, David Lawrence Jones on Tuesday, 12th and Thursday, 14th March, 2019. David has written a series of books about the amazing adventures of “Bradley Baker”. David held an assembly for the whole school which they thoroughly enjoyed and later they were given the opportunity to purchase a signed copy of one of his books.

Red Nose Day On Friday, 15th March, 2019, we were raising money for Comic Relief, children sold red noses, dressed in red, sold buns and took part in a design your own red nose competition. We raised a fantastic total of £901.50. Well done everyone who took part raising money for a great cause.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Special visitors from SYFR came into school and discussed with the Y3 children all about the importance of keeping safe in the case of a fire and what to do in an emergency. The children enjoyed the talk and learnt lots of new things. World Book Day Thank you to everyone that came and participated in our World Book Day celebrations. All of the children, and staff looked amazing dressed up as their favourite book characters and everyone enjoyed lots of opportunity to Drop Everything and Read throughout the day.

Parent Questionnaire Thank you to all parents and carers that took the time to complete our parent questionnaire at parents evening. Your feedback and comments are important to us so that we can continue to make improvements to ensure our school remains the best it can be. A lot of the feedback you gave was extremely positive and very supportive of the school and you have praised our staff immensely - thank you! All comments have been shared and staff have greatly appreciated hearing that their hard work and dedication has been noted by you. Some comments left have referred to home learning, thank you for this we will consider everyone’s feedback during the review of our home learning policy. Other comments were related to parents/carers feeling that the school does not address bullying/cyber bullying enough. We have recently reviewed our bullying policy with one of the school's parent governors and a few adjustments have been made following this meeting. To address these issues in school we not only have dedicated weeks in school where this is our focus, we also have very regular conversations with children around keeping themselves safe, making the right choices and being kind to each other. One difficulty we are finding with this at the moment is that a lot of issues are happening at home, either on mobile phones or gaming. These issues are then being brought into school for us to deal with. Can I encourage everyone to discuss the appropriate use of devices and also friendship at home on a regular basis. With support from school and at home we hope that these issues will decrease so that children feel able to focus on their learning more. If you are unsure what it is your child is doing at school or how we address some of the issues around bullying, friendship, safe internet use please visit our school website. Staff are very good at keeping it updated with the wonderful learning that is happening at school. Once again, thank you for your comments and feedback. Mrs. Adams – Head of School
