Rotherham Minster
What a wonderful walk to Rotherham Minster to support Y6’s geography and history work, as well as learning more about a religious building. The children asked very interesting questions, all of which were answered by our expert guide.
Tooth decay
In science Year 4 have been trying to answer “Do different drinks affect tooth decay?” As eggs closely represent the enamel on teeth we have been carrying out an ‘eggsperiment’ to see which drink, if any will affect the tooth enamel (the egg) the most. We won’t tell you the results but which one do you think would affect teeth the most?

Well done to Tennyson who received their house treat last week for receiving the most house points this year.
Investigating Habitats
Year 5 had a fabulous afternoon in the June sunshine, investigating all the habitats around our school site. They watched bees pollinating our wild flowers, went pond dipping and explored the bug hotel.
Nemesis Project
Year 3 we have been working hard on progressing with their Nemesis project. They wrote letters to the local Council and to Mrs Adams to ask if they would support our project. HERRINGTHORPE JUNIOR SCHOOL, CHATTERTON DRIVE, ROTHERHAM. S65 2JW.

Notices: Dojo
The way we communicate with you has been a little different during lockdowns and remote learning and Class Dojo has been very useful for this. However, we now need to remind you that the main contact with school should be through the office. This is because we have a problem with our teachers being messaged at night and at weekends by parents. To solve this problem we have told our teachers to turn off notifications in the evenings and so your messages will not get to them till the following day. Similarly at weekends we have instructed our teachers that they need a break and notifications will also be switched off then. If you have an urgent issue please contact the office directly, also if your child is absent you should call the office too. Your child’s class teacher will still be available at the beginning and the end of the day and will still communicate with you via Dojo but not at night and at weekends. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
LEAF Centre update … … we have stairs and the walls are starting to go up inside!
Symptoms *High temperature *Persistent new cough *Loss of taste and/or smell If you or your child have any or all of these symptoms you must isolate and call 111 for advice as you may need a test. Call 119 for a test or order online. Inform school if your child is being tested.
Lateral Flow home testing kits are now available for families to test at home. These can be collected from Herringthorpe Stadium Testing Site between 1.30pm and 7pm each day. If you get a positive test from this you must then book a PCR test to confirm the result. Please inform school as you will need to isolate. We would encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to help protect our school community. All current measures in school will remain the same. You will be informed if changes are made. Please remember: * Face coverings * One parent drop off/pick up * Maintain social distancing You risk not being allowed on site if you choose not to follow these measures.
