Facts about Garcinia Cambogia

2013 Garcinia Cambogia is a type of plant which grows mainly in the tropical climates of Polynesia, Asia, Southern Africa and Australia. The plant and the fruit are known by different names in different countries and their regions. The scientific name of this plant is Garcinia Gummi-gutta which the mostly found in Indonesia.


Some of the most common names by which it is known in different regions are malabar tamarind, assam fruit or brindle berry. There are different varieties of the same plant in existence which some say to be almost 300 in number. A large number of varieties of this plant have become extinct due to the rapid degradation of forestry and urbanization of the countries where they grow. The fruit may be very well known in one region while it may be totally unknown at a place which is separated from this place by only a few hundred kilometers. The fruits of the plant have a thick outer skin and a fleshy inner core which is eaten by the people who grow these plants for food. This fruit is sweet in flavor and also the favorite food of many animals. The fruit is yellowish in color and looks like a shrunken orange or a lemon. The extract from the rind of fruit is used as a spice in some regions while it is used to color or flavor soups in some other regions. It can be used as a purgative or pigment depending on the requirement. The Garcinia Cambogia plant is known for the brownish-yellow gum resin which seeps out of the bark of the trees. This gum resin is used as a dye for coloration. The extracts of a specific variety of Garcinia Cambogia is used as a suppressant for appetites as it contains a fair amount of hydroxycitric acid. This acid is somewhat toxic and may create acidic reactions in the stomach if it is taken for a long period of time. It also affects the reproductive organs of the male human beings if consumed continuously for some time. In recent experiments carried out in the laboratories it has been proven that the extract of the Garcinia plant has the capability to destroy the Ebola virus. The most recent development in the use of this extract was brought to the notice of the general public at seminar held about the discovery of a new kind of medicine which can be used to control the formation of fat in the human body. The people who were promoting the extract of the Garcinia plant as a preventive medicine for weight gain
