Long Beach Island is the community that gives you that home town feeling of belonging. Long Beach Island or LBI is a barrier island in Ocean County off the coast of New Jersey. It is a hugely popular vacation destination for those who want an escape to an island lifestyle and enjoy some time in the soft sand even if it is only for a week. A car is the way to get to LBI but in the summer months, you can take a bus from NYC to Long Beach Island. There are multiple stops on Long Beach Boulevard to get you to your favorite beach straight from NYC. Most people are surprised when I tell them that I live on Long Beach Island year round.
People always respond the same way and ask, "What do you do in the winter?" Although, the population of LBI increases ten-fold in the summer, LBI is a busy place in the winter, too. I keep busy just like everyone else does in the winter. It is cold everywhere in a northeast winter. Think about it... if it is snowing, you are probably indoors but I love to be outside during a snowfall and watch the snowfall over the ocean. You can easily connect and have a conversation with a fellow LBIér. Shhh...LBI isn't just a summer vacation destination. It's a lifestyle!
