DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS Linda Van Drie Andrzjewski Director of Athletics | Sixth Year As the Director of Athletics at Wilmington University, I would like to welcome you to the 2013-14 academic year. This is an exciting time for the Wildcats, as it is the second full season after we officially opened our facility on Route 40. The new athletics complex will be home to six of our athletic teams, the administrative offices and another state of the art athletic training facility. The facility features a beautiful turf field and outdoor seating for 300, a spacious gymnasium with seating for 400 and additional locker room space. This new facility will enhance the growth of our program and be a sense of pride for all Wildcats. Our athletic teams continue to grow and do well. For the fourth year in a row, the men’s program has won the coveted Restaino Cup in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. This is no doubt a reflection of our excellent coaching staff. This year we plan to build on this success and continue to compete for conference and post-season titles in all of our sports programs. The success of our program is contingent upon the support of the administration the quality of the student-athletes we have in each sport. At Wilmington University we are proud of our strong staff and wonderful student-athletes. This is an exciting era for Wilmington University and the athletic program as members of NCAA Division II. I am very fortunate to be working with an athletic department that has such a fine history and a real vision of what it takes to compete at the Division II level. I am also honored to be associated with a very caring, dedicated and talented athletics staff and coaches and especially our wonderful and diligent studentathletes who work so hard to carry on the tradition of excellence at Wilmington University. I hope that you will take the time to support all of the Wildcats’ teams. WILMINGTON UNIVERSITY AT A GLANCE Wilmington University is a private, non-profit university that offers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs in a wide range of career areas. The University began with a charter class of 194 students in 1968 and now enrolls a diverse student body numbering more than 15,000 annually. Founded as Wilmington College, on September 10, 2007 the institution officially became Wilmington University after the approval of the Board of Trustees and the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The name was changed to better reflect the emphasis on bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degree programs that distinguish Wilmington University from other colleges as well as to effectively communicate the full commitment and mission of the University. The program of day, evening, and weekend classes serves traditional high school graduates as well as non-traditional adult students in need of flexible scheduling. Classes are primarily offered in 15-week, 7-week, and weekend modular formats. In addition to these face-to-face learning options, Wilmington University offers a wide array of online learning options, including fully-online degree programs and hybrid courses and programs (combining face-to-face and online learning). Wilmington University’s main campus is located near the cities of Wilmington and historic New Castle, Delaware. The campus is easily accessible by air, rail, and bus. Our central location in the northeast/mid-Atlantic corridor of the United States provides students convenient access to the major cities of Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore, and Washington D.C. Recreational areas such as beaches and ski resorts are within easy driving distance. Additional University locations in Delaware include the Wilson Graduate Center, Middletown, Dover, Dover Air Force Base, Georgetown, Rehoboth Beach, and North Wilmington. In New Jersey, Wilmington University offers programs on Burlington County College and Cumberland County College campuses and the Joint Base Education Center for McGuire AFB/Fort Dix/Lakehurst Naval Air Station, in addition to a selection of courses offered at Salem Community College. In Maryland, select Wilmington University teacher-education degree programs are available at Cecil College’s Elkton location. Wilmington University generally serves commuter students and does not provide student housing facilities. However, the University welcomes all qualified students and assists those needing living accommodations by providing a listing of nearby rental opportunities.

Nick Papanicolas Head Coach | 10th Season Nick Papanicolas will enter his tenth season at the helm of the Wilmington University men’s soccer program in 2013. The 2006 and 2009 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year, Papanicolas has led his team to the CACC Tournament in all nine years as head coach. He put together a run in 2007 to the CACC Tournament Championship, and finished the regular season as the number one seed in 2009 while also earning the program’s only bid to the NCAA East Regional Tournament, finishing 15th in the nation. The 2007 campaign was the school’s first CACC title since joining the NCAA Division II ranks in the fall of 2004. Last season, the Wildcats finished fifth in the CACC with a 6-5 conference record, coming back from a 2-0 first half deficit against Bloomfield in the CACC Quarterfinal to score three times in the second half and advance. The Wildcats run ended in the Semifinals to the eventual CACC Tournament Finalist and host Post University, 1-0. The 2012 regular season schedule featured three NCAA Tournament participants, including the number one team in the NCAA poll LIU Post, Post University, and Franklin Pierce University. Papanicolas took over the coaching ranks at Wilmington after one season as an assistant in 2003. He helped the Wildcats return to the top of the conference with a regular season record of 10-7-3 during the team’s provisional season into the NCAA. Prior to joining the Wilmington team, Papanicolas returned to his alma mater to coach at Division III Rowan University for three seasons (2000-02). During his tenure with the Profs, the team culminated a 5810-2 overall record. Papanicolas was a three year starter on Year Record 2004 4Ͳ10Ͳ4 the soccer team at Rowan where he led the team in scoring 2005 5Ͳ11Ͳ2 2006 11Ͳ5Ͳ4 during his sophomore season and was captain in his final two years. In his three years as a player, he led the Profs to 2007 12Ͳ5Ͳ2 three NCAA berths and the 1998 Final Four. Papanicolas holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education and a Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration. In addition to being the head men’s soccer coach, he works in the University’s Student Life Department.

Jeff Zoyac Associate Head Coach | 10th Season Jeff Zoyac enters his tenth season as an assistant coach at Wilmington, his third as the Associate Head Coach. Zoyac attended Cumberland Regional High School in Southern New Jersey, where he was a First Team All-Conference selection. He began his collegiate career at Division III Rowan University in 2000, where he helped his team reach the NCAA National Semifinals as a sweeper. After transferring to Wilmington in 2003, he led the Wildcats in scoring and was a crucial piece of their second Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship. He finished his collegiate soccer career as an Honorable Mention All-Conference selection. Zoyac, who received his Bachelor of Arts degree in General Studies and his Masters in Special Education from Wilmington, also holds a USSF National “C” license. Outside of Wilmington, he is the Director of Coaching for New Jersey Rush. His duties with New Jersey Rush include an emphasis on coaching junior boys and girls.
Andres Hurtado Assistant Coach | Second Season Andres Hurtado returned to his alma mater as a part of the Wilmington men’s soccer staff in 2012 after serving as the head coach at Delaware Technical Community College – Stanton campus from since 2008. He led Del. Tech to a 36-27-7 overall record in four years, including a 12-6-2 record in 2009. Prior to beginning his coaching career, Hurtado came to Wilmington University in 2001 as a member of the men’s soccer program. He helped lead the Wildcats to the 2001 and 2003 CACC Championship and was named a team captain as a senior in 2005. Hurtado earned his USSF National B coaching license in 2011 and currently works full time with the Kirkwood Soccer Club as the Director of Coaching and Urban League Director. He was also the Olympic Development Program (ODP) head coach from 2009-11. While at Kirkwood, Hurtado runs and oversees representative teams in the club, facilitates coaching courses, train teams for youth development, organize team and schedules for the Urban League, coach the KSC U17 Courage girls’ team to the 2012 State Championship and coach the KSC U12 boy’s academy team to the 2012 State Championship. Prior to coming to Wilmington in 2001, He was a four-year letterwinner at West Chester High School, earning captaincy as a senior in 2000.

COACHING STAFF Miles Dean Assistant Coach | Seventh Season Miles Dean enters his seventh season as an assistant coach of the men’s soccer program. He played his collegiate career at the University of South Carolina at Spartanburg (currently University of South Carolina-Upstate), where he was a member of the soccer team for four seasons. While at Spartanburg, Miles helped the Spartans win four straight Peach Belt Conference titles, earning berths in the NCAA Division II Tournament each season. Dean also helped lead the Spartans to the 1995 Division II National Championship game. Miles led the Spartans in scoring three of his four years, finishing with 50 goals and 116 points for his career. Dean is in the Spartans “top ten” for career points and goals scored, prior to Upstate jumping up to NCAA Division I in 2007. A native of Newark, Del., Dean continued his soccer career in the professional ranks in 1997 when he joined the Delaware Wizards. After a brief stint with the Wizards, Dean turned his attention to coaching. In 2004, Dean helped lead Tatnall High School to a Delaware High School Soccer State Championship. He coached the Delaware United Blizzard FC to state championships in 2009, 2011 and 2012. The team was the champion of the prestigious Disney College Showcase in 2011. Dean earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from USC-Spartanburg in 1995. He holds a Master’s degree in Education from Wilmington University. Dean is currently the founder and President of The Dean Success Group, a youth development and consulting company in Delaware.
Tony DiVirgilio Strength & Conditioning Coach | Second Season Tony DiVirgilio joins the Wilmington University men’s soccer program for his second season in 2013 after completing a successful three seasons as a defender under head coach Nick Papanicolas from 2008-10. He will work with and closely monitor the team’s strength and conditioning workouts in 2013. As a senior in 2010, DiVirgilio earned First Team All-CACC as well as Daktronics Second Team All-Region. He also earned a spot on the CACC All-Tournament team after helping the team to the fourth seed during the regular season. He was also named a team captain in 2010. Following graduating from Wilmington, DiVirgilio started his own personal training and endurance business, Enduro5 Fitness, and serves as the head fitness trainer. He is certified, licensed and insured through AAAI/ISMA and is currently completely the National Strength and Conditioning Association program.

COACHING STAFF Greg Cope Goalkeeper Coach | Fifth Season Greg Cope returns to the Wilmington University coaching in 2013 as the team’s assistant and goalkeeper coach after taking the 2012 season off. He was also an assistant coach under head coach Nick Papanicolas from 2008-11. Prior to coaching, Cope played one season under Papanicolas and was a member of the 2007 CACC Tournament Championship team. Cope began coaching in the early 90’s helping out with Kirkwood Soccer programs and as an assistant for the Newark High School women’s team in the spring of 1996. While at Newark, he was the goalkeeper coach and had a successful year coaching a brand new keeper to a 0.93 goals against average, nine shutouts, and 2nd Team All-State honors. In the fall of 1996, Cope moved to Lexington, Kentucky and joined the University of Kentucky women’s soccer coaching staff. In three years coaching with the Kentucky Wildcats, they achieved a record of 31-27-6 and earned two NCAA Tournament berths. His goalkeeper earned 2nd Team All-Southeastern Conference honors in 1997. During his time down in Kentucky he also privately trained many keepers. Cope earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Organizational Management from Wilmington University in the spring of 2008, and currently is studying for his master’s in Organizational Leadership. Along with coaching and school, Coach Cope also owns and runs his own sports equipment business, EPOC.
Ray Kuemmer Student Assistant Coach | First Season Ray Kuemmer joins the coaching staff as a student assistant after playing two seasons under Papanicolas. Kuemmer was a vital part of the midfield and defensive unit during the 2011 and 2012 seasons. Kuemmer made an impact as soon as he stepped foot on Wilmington’s campus, scoring four goals and adding seven assists in 2011, finishing fifth on the team with 15 points. He was named Second Team All-CACC as a junior, leading the team to a 7-2-2 CACC record and the No. 2 seed in the CACC Tournament. As a senior, Kuemmer was asked to help anchor the back line, making all 20 starts after being named a team captain in the preseason. He also helped the offense with four goals and two assists, finishing fifth on the team with 10 points. He helped lead the team to a 6-5 CACC record, the No. 5 seed in the CACC Tournament, and an appearance in the 2012 CACC Tournament Semifinals. Kuemmer is continuing his studies at Wilmington, currently pursuing a degree in sports management.
