DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS Linda Van Drie Andrzjewski Director of Athletics | Sixth Year As the Director of Athletics at Wilmington University, I would like to welcome you to the 2013-14 academic year. This is an exciting time for the Wildcats, as it is the second full season after we officially opened our facility on Route 40. The new athletics complex will be home to six of our athletic teams, the administrative offices and another state of the art athletic training facility. The facility features a beautiful turf field and outdoor seating for 300, a spacious gymnasium with seating for 400 and additional locker room space. This new facility will enhance the growth of our program and be a sense of pride for all Wildcats. Our athletic teams continue to grow and do well. For the fourth year in a row, the menâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s program has won the coveted Restaino Cup in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. This is no doubt a reflection of our excellent coaching staff. This year we plan to build on this success and continue to compete for conference and post-season titles in all of our sports programs. The success of our program is contingent upon the support of the administration the quality of the student-athletes we have in each sport. At Wilmington University we are proud of our strong staff and wonderful student-athletes. This is an exciting era for Wilmington University and the athletic program as members of NCAA Division II. I am very fortunate to be working with an athletic department that has such a fine history and a real vision of what it takes to compete at the Division II level. I am also honored to be associated with a very caring, dedicated and talented athletics staff and coaches and especially our wonderful and diligent studentathletes who work so hard to carry on the tradition of excellence at Wilmington University. WILMINGTON UNIVERSITY AT A GLANCE Wilmington University is a private, non-profit university that offers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs in a wide range of career areas. The University began with a charter class of 194 students in 1968 and now enrolls a diverse student body numbering more than 15,000 annually. Founded as Wilmington College, on September 10, 2007 the institution officially became Wilmington University after the approval of the Board of Trustees and the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The name was changed to better reflect the emphasis on bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degree programs that distinguish Wilmington University from other colleges as well as to effectively communicate the full commitment and mission of the University. The program of day, evening, and weekend classes serves traditional high school graduates as well as non-traditional adult students in need of flexible scheduling. Classes are primarily offered in 15-week, 7-week, and weekend modular formats. In addition to these face-to-face learning options, Wilmington University offers a wide array of online learning options, including fully-online degree programs and hybrid courses and programs (combining face-to-face and online learning). Wilmington University’s main campus is located near the cities of Wilmington and historic New Castle, Delaware. The campus is easily accessible by air, rail, and bus. Our central location in the northeast/mid-Atlantic corridor of the United States provides students convenient access to the major cities of Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore, and Washington D.C. Recreational areas such as beaches and ski resorts are within easy driving distance. Additional University locations in Delaware include the Wilson Graduate Center, Middletown, Dover, Dover Air Force Base, Georgetown, Rehoboth Beach, and North Wilmington. In New Jersey, Wilmington University offers programs on Burlington County College and Cumberland County College campuses and the Joint Base Education Center for McGuire AFB/Fort Dix/Lakehurst Naval Air Station, in addition to a selection of courses offered at Salem Community College. In Maryland, select Wilmington University teacher-education degree programs are available at Cecil College’s Elkton location. Wilmington University generally serves commuter students and does not provide student housing facilities. However, the University welcomes all qualified students and assists those needing living accommodations by providing a listing of nearby rental opportunities.

COACHING STAFF

Keith Jones Head Coach | 12th Season Keith Jones founded the cross country program at Wilmington in 2001, and is responsible for the challenging design of the Wildcat’s home 5k & 8k courses at Carousel Park in Pike Creek, Del. Now entering his 13th season at the helm, Jones continues to produce talented teams that are perennial contenders. Jones began his running career as a freshman in high school, and continues to be active in local road races. He has coached several high school programs in Delaware, including Sanford School, Mt. Pleasant High School, and Ursuline Academy. In each of these positions, he led the teams to their best records in school history. During his tenure here at Wilmington University, Jones has consistently fielded talented teams, and has established the program as one that is highly respected throughout the Conference and Region. He has coached 44 All- Conference runners, 7 conference Rookies of the Year, 5 Conference Runner-Ups, 5 Conference Champions, 8 All Regional runners, and 2 National Qualifiers. Jones was also the 2009 CACC Women’s Coach of the Year, and 2012 CACC Men’s Coach of the Year, and the men’s team is the reigning CACC Conference Champions. Jones received his bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Delaware in Sport Psychology, and has consulted with local athletes concerning performance enhancement strategies, and teaches Sport Psychology at Wilmington University. In his quest for improvement, Jones relentlessly searches for innovative training methods, products, and ideas to incorporate with his athletes. Jones and his wife reside in Newark, Delaware

COACHING STAFF

Jill Bosch Assistant Coach | Second Season Jill Bosch came to Wilmington University as an assistant coach in 2012 with a familiarity of the Wildcat program and knowledge of the training strategies employed by head coach Keith Jones. As an alumnus of Wilmington University, Bosch ran under Jones in 2004 and 2005. During her time at Wilmington, she earned team MVP honors and earned CACC All-Conference Honors in both seasons. Prior to her time as a Wildcat, Bosch ran four years for Padua Academy where she qualified for the Delaware High School State Championship Meet, and was named All-Catholic in both cross country and track and field. Bosch will bring a very competitive spirit and ability to inspire confidence in the current Wildcat runners. She is an athlete who gives tremendous effort on a consistent basis, which Bosh will look to instill in the current squad. Bosch looks forward to using her creative thinking and passion for excellence to help the runners and coaching staff as they pursue a championship this fall.

Andy Weaver Assistant Coach | First Season Following a distinguished running career at the University of Delaware and Oklahoma, Andy Weaver joins the Wilmington University coaching staff for his first season in the fall of 2013. Weaver graduated from the University of Delaware in the spring of 2012 before heading to Oklahoma University for a final season on the cross country course in the fall of 2012. He served as a volunteer assistant for the Delaware club team during the 2011-12 academic year. While at Oklahoma, he was named an Oklahoma Academic All-American and qualified for the NCAA’s after placing 19th at the Big 12 Championships. Ran a time of 30:45.96 for a 16th place finish at the NCAA Regionals before coming in 123rd at the NCAA Championship meet with a time of 30:56. During his time at Delaware, Weaver became the first club cross-country national champion in program history while leading the Blue Hens to a fourth-place finish at the Club Cross Country Championships in 2011. Holds multiple school records on the cross country and track teams, as well as at the club level for the Blue Hens. He was named to the 2010 All-Region and All-East teams while also being named to the 2011 All-CAA team for track. He was also named to the 2010 Mid-Atlantic All-Region team while running for the Blue Hens. Weaver graduated from Delaware with a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering with a minor in economics before earning his master’s in Administrative Leadership from Oklahoma. He currently works at New Balance and resides in Hockessin, Del.

High School: Four year letterwinner at C. Mike O’Brian Graduate | 5-10 | 185 Bear, Del. / St. Mark’s (Delaware) 2012: All-CACC (third at the CACC Championship) – joined the program midway through the season, running in the final five meets of the season – challenged for the top spot in each of the races, finishing in the top five in three events – finished a season’s best second place at the GBC Fall Classic – had a season fastest time of 25:48 at the Don Cathcart Invite, finishing in seventh – finished third at the CACC Championship in a time of 27:33 – finished a team best 22nd at the East Regional Meet in 31:16.5 for the 10K. At University of Delaware: Ran two years of cross country under head coach Jim Fischer from 2008-09 – also ran one season of indoor track and field in 2009 two season of outdoor track and field in 2009-10. Richie Mitten Junior | 6-1 | 185 Bear, Del. / Delaware Military Academy 2012: All-CACC (fourth at CACC Championship) – one of the team’s most consistent runners, participating in all eight meets in the season consisting of the DVC Invite, WUXC Invite, RiverHawks, Philly Metro, Don CathCart, GBC Fall Classic, CACC Conference Championships, and East Regional meet – finished in the top 10 in six different meets throughout the year – finished a season’s best third place at the GBC Fall Classic in 28:57 – placed fourth in a season’s best 25:36 at the Don Cathcart Invitational – also placed fourth at the CACC Championship meet, finishing in 27:41 – placed 36th at the NCAA East Regionals in 31:57.4 in the 10K course – Wilmington Academic All-Star. Matt Mossman Junior | 5-7 | 135 Wilmington, Del. / St. Mark’s 2012: All-CACC (seventh at CACC Championship) – one of the team’s most consistent runners, participating in six meets in the season consisting of the DVC Invite, WUXC Invite, RiverHawks, Don CathCart, CACC Conference Championships, and East Regional meet – finished in the top 10 in three separate events, including the DVC Invite (sixth), WUXC Invite (fifth), and the CACC Championship (seventh) – ran a season’s best 26:29 in 8K meet at the Don Cathcart Invite, placing 12th overall – also finished 63rd at the East Regional meet in 31:16.5 in the 10K. Pleasant 2012: Participated in the first six events of the season, including the DVC Invite, the WUXC Invite, the RiverHawks Invite, the Philly Metro, the Don Cathcart Invite, and the GBC Fall Classic – had a season’s best 44th place finish at the GBC Fall Classic – finished with a season’s best time of 30:19 in the 8K at the Don Cathcart Invite. High School: Eleven-time varsity letterwinner in cross country, indoor and outdoor track at Mount Pleasant High School under head coaches Beth Mattey and Dave Sheridan – two-time Team MVP for cross country – two-time All-Conference award winner – earned All-County one time – named a captain in all three sports as a junior and again as a senior Personal: Brandon P. Jesus Amezquita Sophomore | 5-9 | 135 Stafford, Va. / Mountain View 2012: CACC Rookie of the Year (eighth at the CACC Championship) - All-CACC – CACC Rookie of the Week on September 5 and 12; and October 2 and 11 – Ran in eight meets over the course of the season – included the DVC Invite, WUXC Invite, RiverHawks, Philly Metro, Don Cathcart, GBC Fall Classic, CACC Conference Meet, and the East Regional meet – his best place came in the GBS Fall Classic, where he placed fifth – his best time took place at the Don Cathcart meet with a time of 26:18 in the 8K. High School: Earned six varsity letters in cross country and track at Mountain View High School – named All-District for cross country as a junior and senior – named to All-District and All-Region in the indoor 3,200 meter event as a junior and a senior – also helped the 4x8 meter relay team to All-District, All-Region and All-State for indoor as a senior – helped lead the 4x400 meter relay to a district and region championship – named All-District and All-region in the 1,600 meter, 3,200 meter, 4x400 and 4x800 meter relays as a senior Personal: Jesus Amezquita – son of Luis and Lidia Amezquita – has two brothers, Luis Antonia Amezquita and Jonathan Amezquita – majoring in business management at Wilmington University – from Stafford, Va. His favorite athlete is the runner, Galen Rupp.

Morgan Ferrick Sophomore | 5-2 Elkton, Md. / Elkton 2012: Ran in eight meets over the course of the season – included the DVC Invite, WUXC Invite, RiverHawks, Philly Metro, Don Cathcart, GBC Fall Classic, CACC Conference Championships, and the East Regional meet – best placement was 21st, which took place at the Goldey Beacom College Fall Classic - best time was at the RiverHawk Cross Country Invitational with a time of 22:40 in the 5K. High School: Earned varsity letters in track and field, soccer and tennis at Elkton High School – named a captain of the soccer and tennis teams – honor student – earned perfect attendance for eight consecutive years – member of the yearbook staff as editor, member of Student Council, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) – has contributed over 1,000 hours of community service Personal: Morgan Jade Ferrick – daughter of James Ferrick – has a sister, Megan, and two half-sisters, Brittany Campbell and Ashley Potts – sister, Megan, is a freshman runner at Waynesburg University – majoring in mid-level education at Wilmington University – from Elkton, Md – Looks to her family as role models.

Quinn Marvel Sophomore | 5-11 | 140 Timonium, Md. / Dulaney 2012: Participated in eight meets in the season consisting of the DVC Invite, WUXC Invite, RiverHawks, Philly Metro, Don CathCart, GBC Fall Classic, CACC Conference Championships, and East Regional meet – finished a season’s best 15th at the GBC Fall Classic – finished in a season’s best 27:47 at the Don Cathcart Invitational, placing 40th overall in the 8K – placed 23rd at the CACC Championship in 30:03 – finished 139th at the East Regional meet in 35:51.2. High School: Two-year letterwinner in cross country at Dulaney High School under head coach Chad Boyle – earned the Most Improved (two times), and the Unsung Hero award Personal: Quinn McCabe Marvel – son of Ray and Claire Marvel – has an older brother, Kyle, a twin brother Tyler, and a younger brother Lucas – majoring in psychology at Wilmington University with aspirations of becoming a child grief counselor – from LuthervilleTimonium, Md. – his most played song on his iPod is “Wagon Wheel” by Darius Rucker – his greatest piece of advice he ever received was to “run hard, run fast, and cry later.” – his perfect meal would consists of chicken alfredo with steamed broccoli – if he could date a celebrity, he would date Jessica Alba.

Penelope Fantis Graduate | 5-3 Fallston, Md. / Fallston (Harford CC) At Harford CC: Helped the Fighting Owls women’s soccer team to a 34-4-2 overall record in two seasons at Harford Community College – as a freshman, she led her team to a conference, Region XX and District H Championship, en route to a fifth place finish at the NJCAA Division I National Tournament – also won the conference championship in 2010, but fell in a shoot in the Region XX Championship match. High School: Four year letterwinner in soccer at Fallston High School under coaches Allison Cammann and Mark Hannahs – helped team to four straight UCBAA Conference Championships – team won the regional championship as a sophomore, junior and senior – helped the team win the division championship and advance to the Maryland State Tournament, finishing the season as State Finalist as a senior in 2008 – named First Team All-County as a freshman and First Team All-District as a sophomore, junior and senior – distinguished honor roll all four years – Minds in Motion Scholar – member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society – member of the Varsity Club and the Best Buddies Program Personal: Penelope Stergos Fantis – daughter of Stergos and Kalliopi Fantis – has an older sister, Flora – father, Stergos, played professional soccer in Greece – majoring in sports management at Wilmington University with aspirations of coaching and working in sports – favorite athletes are Christiano Ronaldo and Messi – most memorable sports moment consists of winning the CACC championship with the WU soccer team.

Mark Hannagan Graduate | 5-8 | 140 Wilmington, Del. / Salesianum (Delaware) At Delaware: Member of the 2008 University of Delaware cross country team under head coach Jim Fischer – ran for Delaware Club cross country and track from 2009-13 – helped lead the club team to a sixth place finish at the NIRCA National meet in 2011 – helped lead the club team to an eighth place finish at the 2012 NIRCA National meet – graduated with a degree in History from Delaware. High School: Four year letterwinner at Salesianum on the cross country team – earned the team’s Sportsmanship Award in 2008 – helped lead the team to the 2008 Delaware State Championship – named a captain on the 2009 spring track team – member of the National Honor Society at Salesianum. Personal: Mark James Hannagan – son of Tom Hannagan and Faith Patterson – has two older siblings, Dana and Tommy – earning his masters in Secondary Teaching: 7-12 at Wilmington University with aspirations of becoming a history teacher and a coach – from Wilmington, Del. – his most played song on his iPod is “Play” by David Banner – views Delaware coach Jim Fischer as a role model – favorite all-time movie is “Fight Club”.

Marshall Hawkins Graduate | 5-6 | 155 Dover, Del. / Caesar Rodney (Delaware) At Delaware: Raced in six events in his first season as a Blue Hen in 2010 – finished 36th in the CAA Conference Meet and 129th overall in the NCAA Regional meet. High School: Four year letterwinner in cross country at Caesar Rodney – earned the team’s Sportsmanship Award in 2008 – earned First Team All-State in 2008, placing fourth overall –placed sixth overall as a junior in the 2007 state meet – also lettered in swimming and in track & field – earned the swimming team’s sportsmanship award in 2008 – president of the sportsmanship club – secretary of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) – National Honor Society member Personal: Marshall Lee Hawkins – son of Kevin and Terri Hawkins – has three siblings, Justin James, Kevin Hawkins, and Miranda Hawkins – sister, Miranda, plays lacrosse at Delaware State – earning his M.B.A in Health Care Administration at Wilmington University with aspirations of working in administration in a healthcare organization – from Dover, Del. – his heroes are his brothers who are currently serving overseas – his favorite meal is gnocchi’s with Italian sausage – if he could date a celebrity with would be Katherine Heigl.

Tijen Ozcan Graduate | 5-3 Syosset, N.Y. / Syosset (Delaware) At Delaware: Ran one season on the cross country team at the University of Delaware – successful middle distance runner in three seasons as a Blue Hen – broke the indoor school record in the 600 meter event in 2009 with a time of 1:51.85 – graduated with a degree in chemistry High School: 11 timeletterwinner in both cross country and track & field at Syosset High School – named team MVP as a senior – named All-County during spring track – national honor society member. Personal: Tijen Ozcen – daughter of Burhan and Jan Ozcan – has one sibling, Seren – earning master’s degree in Secondary Teaching: 7-12 at Wilmington University with aspirations of becoming a secondary chemistry teacher – from Syosset, N.Y. favorite athlete is Mary Cain (17), the youngest American athlete to ever represent the US at a World Championship meet – the most played song on her iPod if “The World’s Greatest” by R. Kelly – also enjoys rock climbing and eating.

Nathan Parmenter Graduate | 5-11 | 155 Rising Sun, Md. / Brandywine (Del.) (Delaware) At Delaware: Three-year letterwinner on the cross country team at the University of Delaware – competed in four events as a junior in 2010, placing 60th at the CAA Conference Championship – finished a personal best 16th at the CAA Conference Championship in 2009 – also competed on the outdoor track & field team at Delaware – won the 5,000 meter event at the Towson Invitational and the West Chester Open Invitational. High School: Lettered all four years in cross country and track and field at Brandywine High School – captained cross country team senior year – first team All-State selection his senior year when he placed fourth individually at the state championship – owns school 5,000m record and school mile record – honor student. Personal: Nathan T. Parmenter – son of Tom and Becca Parmenter – earning his masters in Management Information Systems at Wilmington University – from Rising Sun, Md. – enjoys working on his car of his bike in his free time – besides being a collegiate athlete, he would want to be a professional Rally, F1, or Moto GP racer – if he could date a celebrity it would be Jessica Biel – favorite sports team is the Philadelphia Phillies.

Chelsie Maher Junior | 5-8 Elkton, Md. / Elkton High School: Three sport athlete at Elkton High School, earning four varsity letters in lacrosse as a midfielder – named AllCountry in 2009-10 as well as Honorable Mention All-County in 2008-09 – also played three seasons on the Elkton soccer team as well as two seasons on the Elkton basketball team Personal: Chelsie H. Maher – daughter of Tim Maher and Beth Roush – is the middle of three Maher children, Reilly and Paige – majoring in criminal justice at Wilmington University – favorite all-time movie is “Die Hard” – her biggest hero is her brother who is currently serving in the Army – her biggest role models are her parents.

Tyler Muse Junior | 5-10 | 155 Bel Air, Md. / Bel Air (Harford CC) At Harford CC: Ran two years on the cross country team at Harford Community College – won Region XX and MD JUCO Championship as a freshman – third place finishes at the Green Terror Invitational, the Goldey-Beacom Invite and the Hood College Invite as a freshman. High School: Four year letterwinner in cross country at Bel Air High School – helped lead the team to a second place finish in the Maryland State Meet as a junior – named All-County in three separate years – named the 2010 Maryland Runner of the Year – also a distance runner on the Bel Air track & field team – honor roll student. Personal: Tyler Laine Muse – son of Time and Wanda Muse – has an older brother, Connor – majoring in sports management at Wilmington University with aspirations of working in ticket sales for a major league team – from Bel Air, Md. – if he could be the head coach of any team for a year it would be the Baltimore Ravens – favorite all-time movie is “The Sandlot” – if he could date a celebrity it would be Bar Refaeli – favorite athlete is Kobe Bryant.

Ken Fontal Freshman | 5-8 | 140 Newark, Del. / Newark High School: Earned varsity letters in track and field at Newark High School – Blue Hen Conference Team champions in 2013, runner-up individually in conference – second team All State XC 2013 – Division 1 XC States Runner-Up – First team All State Indoor Track – 4 x 800m relay State Champion, in which state record was broken – Honor roll student. Rachel Jones Freshman | 4-11 Newark, Del. / Delaware Military Academy High School: Two year letterwinner on the cross country team at the Delaware Military Academy – named All-Conference as a senior in 2012 – helped lead team to a third place finish at the Delaware state meet. Personal: Rachel Lynn Jones – daughter of Rob and Kim Jones – has three younger siblings, Kylie, Maddi, and Ryan – majoring in elementary education in Wilmington University with aspirations of becoming a special education teacher – from Newark, Del. – favorite athlete is Sidney Crosby – if she could be someone for a day, she would be Ariana Grande – the perfect meal for her would be pierogies.
