Principal’s Welcome



Timetable All students will receive a personal start date to attend College and lecturers will be on hand to greet students as they arrive at their chosen campus. Timetables will be shared with students on their first day in College, we are looking forward to welcoming students back to face to face classroom teaching. The College will continue to follow Government guidance with regards to Covid-19 and as advice and guidance changes, timetables may also change throughout the year.


Work Placements Work experience and Industry Placements are an integral part of full-time study programmes at the College; and an exciting opportunity to develop industry skills and knowledge for your future. We have a dedicated Placement Officer at each campus who is there to support and guide you through the placement journey. You will have the opportunity to complete an external placement this academic year, but before you start your placement, you must speak to your Placement Officer and confirm all details. Placement Officers are based in the Careers Hub at each campus and will be in contact with students to discuss opportunities and requirements after the term has started.


Careers Our team offers expert impartial advice and guidance for everyone, supporting students with university choices, applying for work or an apprenticeship and decision making. Higher Education As part of this years Career Programme, the college is offering a UCAS guarantee, providing dedicated tutorials, workshops guest speakers, personal statement, portfolio, and university interview advice. Passport to employability Careers programmes are also introducing the passport to employability to ensure all students are ready for the world of work. This will be something you will complete during course and tutorials. Careers online page We have a dedicated online page, including dedicated resources to help you find a job. CV templates, applying for apprenticeships, working aboard, and applying to university. Throughout the coming year the team will be available in person and online you book to see us at our career hub or anywhere remotely. Student Support Here at College, the health, wellbeing and safeguarding of all of our students is paramount. Everyone on a full-time course will have an allocated tutor, who will run weekly sessions and 1:1s. These are designed to support and signpost students as needed. Students who would benefit from extra support from a member of our safeguarding or wellbeing team including the college counsellor can speak to a member of curriculum staff, their tutor or they can self-refer through e-mail or telephone. (see contact details below) During tutorial sessions, students will complete an induction programme where advice and information will be given to ensure other opportunities for students to get the support they need are clear.

Your Student Union President Liam Wedlake will also be on hand to direct students for support. Student Life We want all of our students to have a fantastic time whilst at College. There will be a range of fun and informative activities for you to get involved with. Your Tutor, or Student Union President would like to hear your ideas. There are a range of Student Roles available to students that will be advertised through Freshers Fair and in your tutorials. Get Ahead This is a flexible programme for young people not in education, employment or training (NEET) or those at risk of NEET. Students are asked to attend up to two and a half days per week in College for an average on 7 weeks or receive support remotely. All students will receive • 1-2-1 support from a progress coach • An individualised learning plan • The opportunity to undertake work experience • The opportunity to study qualifications in Work Skills, Personal and Social Skills, Managing Personal Finance, Healthy Living and Grit and Resilience

Completion of the Get Ahead programme will help students progress onto further education, employment, an apprenticeship or traineeship. Benefits of the programme include High Street vouchers for completing personal targets and progressing onto a positive destination of up to £100. Coronavirus Advice • You must not come into College if you have tested positive or if you have any of the main symptoms of coronavirus – please call the absence line to let us know • You can help protect yourself and others through vaccination and by testing at home twice a week – please report test results to the NHS and College • On campus, remember to wash your hands more frequently, use hand sanitiser and remember ‘Catch it, bin it, kill it’! • If you wish to wear a face covering at College you may, and please respect others who choose to wear a mask and want to keep their distance • If you feel unwell with Covid-19 symptoms on campus please inform your lecturer or tutor immediately.
