About Us At Wiltshire College & University Centre (WCUC), we know it’s never too late to learn something new. Alongside our extensive Further Education and Higher Education options for post-16 students, we have an excellent provision for adult learners and offer a variety of courses on a part-time basis. The majority of these courses are run over short schedules on a weekly basis, and all at competitive prices. Whether you’re looking to strengthen your business acumen, enhance your career prospects, take up a new hobby or simply learn something for fun, we offer a wide range of courses for adults at locations across the county. Our part-time courses are open to all adult learners and are a great way to enhance your skillset, allowing you to balance studying alongside every other aspect of your busy lifestyle. You’ll be taught by our knowledgeable and experienced staff in small classes alongside people keen to learn the same skills as you. The majority of our courses are taught on one of our four main campuses but some take place at smaller sites or partner locations across the county. Chippenham Our Chippenham campus opened in 2015 following a £21million redevelopment and provides a modern and inspiring environment in which to learn. Boasting advanced facilities, such as engineering workshops, professional salons and a film production studio, the site makes for a diverse and dynamic space for students to hone their craft.
Trowbridge The Trowbridge campus is designed to encourage all students to achieve their potential. Our student-run White Horse Restaurant is open to the public and the campus is home to a professional theatre, the Arc, used by touring companies as well as students. Trade courses are delivered from our Construction Skills Centre. Salisbury Following £14million worth of redevelopment work completed in 2021, our Salisbury campus combines motivational teaching, modern facilities and a vibrant atmosphere. A large proportion of the campus’ teaching facilities have been refreshed, including a suite of labs to enable exciting new courses in the Life Sciences. Lackham Set in 500 acres of Wiltshire countryside, Lackham is WCUC’s specialist campus for land-based study. A £9million redevelopment saw a cutting-edge AgriTech Centre and robotic dairy open in 2021. Combining beautiful historic surroundings with an incredible range of new state-of-theart facilities, the site is truly one-of-a-kind in the region.
Courses listed within these pages have a start date between August and December 2023. We have additional courses due to start between January and July 2024. Choosing the Right Course All the information you will need about the wide variety of courses we offer across our campuses can be found over the rest of these pages and on our website. You can also attend one of our Open Events where our Adult Careers Advisors will be on hand to provide any further help or information you require, so you can be sure the course you choose is the right one to support your career path. Once you’ve decided which course you want to study, you’re ready to apply by following our simple online process. Some courses may require an informal interview but don’t worry, we’ll be in contact to organise this with you. Once your tutor has approved your application, our Student Services team will contact you to arrange payment for your course.
Location Key Our part-time courses don’t always take place on our main campuses and classes are held in various other locations across the county. Use the key opposite when looking through our course pages to find out exactly where the classes you’re interested in will be held.
If you think you may need help or support for your course, then please tell us about any learning difficulties or disabilities you have at the time of enrolment. A member of the Inclusion & Support team will then get in touch with you before your course starts. We will make reasonable adjustments to enable you to participate fully. We reserve the right to make any amendments, cancellations or deletions to our scheduled courses. In the event of a course being cancelled, we will give enrolled students as much notice as possible and, where appropriate, offer alternative courses. If you do not wish to accept an alternative, we will refund any fees paid.

How to Apply Once you have decided which course you would like to study with us, you are ready to apply online. View all of the parttime courses we offer by scanning the QR code on this page. Some courses may require you to attend an informal interview as part of your application. When you have found the course you would like to study on our website, click ‘apply’ and follow the simple steps. You will be asked to complete a form before proceeding to payment. Once we have processed your application, you will receive confirmation from WCUC as well as all the additional information you need before you start your course. Some courses require an appointment with a tutor to ensure the course is right for you before you enrol and pay. Once you have submitted the application form online, our Customer Services team will contact you to book a convenient appointment with a tutor.

Distance Learning Many of our Professional Development or Health, Care and Early Years programmes are Distance Learning (DL) courses, meaning you can study at home at your own pace. You can start these courses at a time of your choosing. Many of these courses are free to most people – these have their fee status listed as Enquire. Your fee status will be determined during your application. Please note that you may only enrol onto one course at a time and must meet the following Entry Requirements: • Learners should be over the age of 19 at the start of the academic year. • Learners need to have been a resident in the UK or EEA/EU for at least three years prior to enrolment. • Learners cannot be enrolled if they are currently funded for another course. • Learners must currently reside in England, in a postcode outside of London, BANES, South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire, Bristol, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, the West Midlands Combined Authority, the Tees Valley Combined Authority, the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, the Newcastle Upon Tyne, North Tyneside and Northumberland Combined Authority, the Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield Combined Authority and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority. Money Matters Students over the age of 19 will usually need to pay for their tuition, exams and registration fees. We have tried to make our courses as affordable as possible and we offer a number of courses free of charge. Payment is due at enrolment, although instalment plans are available in some cases. Below you will find all the information you need on how to pay for your courses.
I have not been a resident in the UK, EU or EEA for three years — can I start a course? If you have not been a resident in the UK/EEA for the last three years you may still complete a course, but you may have to pay the overseas fees which are higher than the advertised price. It depends on your immigration status and the course you are enrolling on.
How can I pay for the course? We can take credit card, debit card, cash or cheque, and many courses are available to pay online. We can set up an instalment plan for you in some situations.
Once I have enrolled and paid, can I get a refund? You can apply for a refund up to 14 days after you have paid, as long as the course has not yet started. If WCUC close a course, we will tell you as soon as possible and you will get a full refund.
Can my employer pay for the course? Yes. To do this, your employer must complete an Employer’s Undertaking Form which can be downloaded from our website, or you can collect a copy from Customer Services on our main campuses. Give your completed form back to Customer Services when you enrol. We will then invoice your employer for your course fees.
Can I get any help to cover travel or childcare costs, to help me come to college? If you have a low income and are studying an eligible course which leads to a recognised qualification, you may get help from the Learner Support Fund. You can apply from August each year. Apply early because funds are limited. Ask for an application form from Customer Services.
Can I get help with my course fees? Most courses that are available to ‘apply now’ on our website are not eligible for any fee remission. Some students on eligible courses that lead to a recognised qualification may be entitled to fee remission based on their current qualifications, or if they are in receipt of benefits and on a very low income. Students enrolling on an eligible Level 3 course may be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.
