On Sunday, February 14, following a single morning worship service at 10:55, we will have a called business meeting at which we will vote on the 2016 church budget. We have been accustomed to basing budgets on the preceding year’s giving. For reasons I will explain, that will not be the case this year.

New Members Reception 6 pm
The proposed budget contains a partial year’s salary for the position of minister to students and education. (Since anyone we might call would not be here for the entire year, we have estimated the portion of the year he might serve.) As a result, the bottom line of the proposed budget is 7% greater than last year, or, about $28,000 greater than actual giving during 2015.
Beside having had the business meeting conversation about this last fall, young couples are visiting, attending, and joining Winstanley. We are seeing more guests than usual. The pre -school has exploded. Members are bringing friends, which wonderfully dove-tails with the outreach/ evangelism/communication plan we are implementing. A new staff member would have vital responsibilities in this area.
Volume 67, Issue 2 February 2016
In my judgment the convergence of new people, the work of a search committee, and a plan for the future make this leap of faith seem right. I think we need to strike while the iron is hot. Is there a risk? Of course. risk? Undoubtedly.
Is faith a
But here is my summary of the situation. I do not fear failure. I fear faithlessness and a missed opportunity. Let it not be said of us that we chose to shrink from the task when God afforded us the opportunity.
The church council is proposing that we fund the position for which a search committee was authorized last year. I totally concur.
Grateful to be your pastor/excited about the future,
Why now?

What It Means To Be A Deacon… I know you have heard it before, but it’s still true. We deacons are your servants. We feel that God has called us for this task and you the church (Winstanley) have ordained us for that task. Every one of us has burdens, and we all fall short in God’s eyes but we can love and pray for each other. God expects that from us. Pray for the deacons that we may do God’s will and also be a good servant to you. Kay and I found a church home when we visited Winstanley and met the friendly, kind, warm and loving people here. I am honored and thankful and with God’s help, hope to be a helpful servant to all of you. Every time I open my Bible I am reminded that it was a gift and present to me on my ordination September 18, 1988. May God bless and keep all of you in his loving hands. Art Reames

GREETER SCHEDULE
DNOW is upon us once again. We are excited for a weekend to worship, Bible Study, and fellowship. The theme for this year is “Renew,” and the scripture verse the weekend is based on is Mark 12:30—“…you shall love the Lord your God with all you heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.” We ask for your prayers leading up to and during the weekend. This is, arguably, the most intensive form of spiritual growth and development our students experience during the school year. However, this is not solely for our students. If you (adults) find yourself in need of or desire for spiritual renewal and are willing to share that with and help lead our students during this weekend, please let me know. The more positive, Christian, adult relationships our students’ have, the better. We are grateful and thankful for your continued love, prayers, and support of our students and hope that you, too, may find a spiritual renewal this season. In Christ, Lyndsay
On Sunday, February 14, immediately following the 10:55 worship service, there will be a called business meeting for the purpose of voting on the proposed 2016 budget. The budget, which is in this issue of The Window, will be the only item of consideration. For this Sunday, February 14, only, we will have one morning service. We will not meet at 8:15.

“Quiet Strength” When Tony Dungy led the Indianapolis Colts to victory in Super Bowl XLT and made history as the first African American coach to win the big game millions of people were amazed by the success of his quiet, authoritative leadership style. They wondered, how does he get it done? We now have in the church library the four books in the new series by Andrea Boeshaar. The new series is the Redemption Series, taking place during and just after, the Civil War. They are rich in historical details and they always entertain. After all, they are the McCabe Family!
