With fall just a few weeks away, I want to share with you some of the work that has been done and will be done this fall. A few weeks ago, we aerated tees. With the tees being Santa Ana bermudagrass, we aerated them in the heat, which is when they have the most aggressive growth for a quick recovery. We also started seeding fairways a few weeks ago and will continue this through the fall. All fairways have been seeded at least once and will get a second seeding soon. Germination has been fantastic, and this will speed up recovery as temperatures start to drop. We plan to begin aerating fairways later this fall. The picture shown is from Saturday, September 4th. This illustrates where our golf carts travel as well as the effect of single rider golf carts. One hundred thirty-one golfers played that day with 82 golf carts. With the increased golf cart traffic last year and this year, we will be aggressively aerating fairways again this fall. This will help relieve compaction from golf cart traffic, promote gas exchange and provide channels for water to drain. The work we do in the Fall and Winter helps us to prepare for the following year. The Golf Maintenance team greatly appreciates your patience and support during these cultural practices while minimizing disruption. Thank you, Jason Conrad Golf Course Superintendent
