Local Families benefit from new Early Learning Centre Life will become a whole lot easier for families with young children in the Frankston and surrounding Peninsula areas thanks to the opening of a new Early Learning Centre, which links local families and communities. Windermere’s Early Learning, working in partnership with Monash University was officially opened on Saturday, with a variety of free family fun activities, including face painting, balloon twisting and spiderman! The newly refurbished centre will fill a much needed gap in the Frankston community to support families with needs in long day care. The award winning design centre completely supports children in their development and has a strong focus on sustainability. Windermere’s Early Learning is modeling it’s practice on play based learning. “Children’s interests drive learning and discovery, through the provision of open ended experiences and natural materials”, said Centre Director Karlie Molesworth. “The play based learning approach encourages children to learn through exploring their environment, and our educators are able to draw on these experiences to support creativity and develop confident, independent learners. We recognise the need for children to have the best start in life, and want their experience at child care to be an exciting time as they develop life long skills and strengths”, said Ms Molesworth. The long day care centre, which I s located within the grounds of Monash University, caters for 58 children, from 0-6years, with enrolments currently open. “This is a wonderful facility for the people of Frankston and wider peninsula community, said Dr Lynette Buoy, Windermere’s newly appointed CEO. “Child care is integral to parents’ ability to balance work and family, and families need child care services that are accessible, of a high quality and part of their community. I am sure that children and parents alike will reap the benefits from Windermere’s Early Learning Centre for many years to come”, said Dr Buoy. The Hon. Bruce Billson MP and Monash University Vice Chancellor, Professor Leon Piterman, were pleased to welcome local families to the opening and praised the terrific community collaboration between Windermere, an organisation deeply committed and experienced in bringing the very best out of all children, and Monash University.
