Premier Networking Meeting October 29, 2014 Topic: How Local Transportation Projects Affect Local Real Estate Guest Speaker: Judy Clibborn, WA House of Representatives Host: Erica Clibborn, Premier Executive Director At the October Premier Breakfast, agents were treated to a presentation from Washington State Representative, Judy Clibborn, who serves as the chair of the House Transportation Committee (and as mom to our very own Erica Clibborn!). Judy touched on a number of interesting transportation projects around the Puget Sound region, including the replacement of the 520 bridge, the expansion of the I-405 corridor to incorporate “hot lanes”, and adding light rail to the I-90 bridge (which won’t be complete until 2026). She also talked about the importance of transportation to the economic vitality of both Seattle and our state, saying that, “Creating a sound transportation system that protects trade-dependent businesses throughout the state keeps Washington’s economy globally competitive.” And what would a presentation about transportation be without talking about Bertha and plans for the Seattle waterfront? Rep. Clibborn didn’t disappoint. Despite ongoing challenges with this project, she is very confident it will be completed on time and shared some pretty amazing renderings of the area once the Alaskan Way Viaduct comes down.
