PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Deborah Stapley-Graham
Another openin’, another show – with Broadway stars and the MSO…
Welcome to the Missoula Symphony’s final performance of the season, Broadway Blockbusters!
What a delight to hear our orchestra play with amazing Broadway and local vocalists once again. We are grateful to Curt Olds and the production he and Julia Tai bring to our stage, and to the Tremper Family whose continued sponsorship of the Broadway Show has helped create a new Missoula tradition.
We have enjoyed a wonderful season with an incredible repertoire that included both traditional and new classical fare, guest artists from around the world, and a guest composer, Donald O. Johnston, who allowed the MSO to premiere his beautiful symphony honoring Lewis and Clark. Our Holiday Pops and Family concerts were huge hits as well, thanks to our directors, musicians, and chorale. Bravo, everyone!
Even though our season is coming to a close, there is so much more the MSA will bring to our community before next season starts in the Fall of 2023.
Our patrons will want to make sure to attend our very first Symphony Speakeasy on June 9th. Dress up as your favorite bootlegger or moll and enjoy food, drinks, and some swinging jazz. If dressing up is not your thing, you’re still welcome – but you’ll need the password to be let into the joint. Buy your tickets at the MSA office or online, where you’ll be given the secret word. No sharing with any stool pigeons, or it’s curtains for you.
We will also see you at the Kettlehouse Amphitheater where the MSO will accompany musician Ben Folds on August 2nd. This concert will take place less than two weeks before Symphony in the Park on August 13th. Pencil these dates into your summer calendar!
The MSA looks forward to continuing to bring beautiful music to the Missoula Community with the support of our patrons and donors. Thank you for making this possible.
