“IIIrd Tyme Out has their own brand of bluegrass: unmatched quartets and trios, masterful lead singing, dead-on rhythm, tasteful fills, lyrical solos, and great songs. From stage left to right they are a complete band – perhaps the most complete band of the past two decades.” - Chris Stuart, Journalist Success for IIIrd Tyme Out was nearly an overnight occurrence for this group following its formation in 1991. They have carried on since then as one of the most beloved and best-selling acts in the genre. To this day, founding member Russell Moore (guitar), along with Steve Dilling (banjo), Justen Haynes (fiddle), Wayne Benson (mandolin), Edgar Loudermilk (bass) and their excellent sound technician, Donnie Carver, are creating a new tradition in modern bluegrass music. As the saying goes, “The proof is in the pudding,” and there is no greater proof of the band’s status as one of the world’s top bluegrass groups than its seven consecutive IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) awards for ‘Vocal Group of the Year’ and Russell Moore’s two IBMA ‘Male Vocalist of the Year’ trophies. All in all, IIIrd Tyme Out has garnered over 50 industry awards. As a band, their vocals define them, and their a cappella renditions of many songs can barely be matched. Their superb instrumentation provides a strong lead and supportive contrast to the rich vocal blends. Stir all of this together, including many performances on the Grand Ole Opry and other GAC and RFD channel programs, over fourteen recordings to date, and an unending desire to present their fans with the best music they can, and you’ve got something quite tasty for the ears.

Sideline Featuring Steve Dilling and Darryl Webb High-powered, hard-driving bluegrass by some of this genre’s most stellar performers! Side projects are becoming more and more common in the bluegrass world. Sometimes it’s a solo project from a member of an established band; other times it’s an all-star effort involving a bevy of popular artists. But sometimes it’s an actual band, who perform irregularly, as its members all tour and record with other groups full time. Such is the case with the aptly named Sideline, which started s few years back as something fun to do in December, when work for bluegrass bands is in short supply. In such short supply that for years, road warriors IIIrd Tyme Out take the entire month off, a nice perk given how much they travel during the rest of the year. But not everyone wants to give up picking for a whole month, so each year 3TO banjo player Steve Dilling assembles a group of musicians to do a series of special concerts during the holiday season. Two years ago that solidified into a regular lineup with fellow 3TO-er Justen Haynes on fiddle, Darrel Webb on mandolin, Skip Cherryhomes on guitar and Jason Moore on bass. The guys enjoy playing together so well that they did a few late night showcases during the 2011 World of Bluegrass conference, and are now cutting a debut album set for release this Spring.

Bluegrass Mountaineers

The Wayfarers

The sparks that the Bluegrass Mountaineers ignite while performing traditional bluegrass music are very unique. Their burning desire is fueled by their experience and music shared by four generations, continuing a family tradition in such a wonderful music style. The fourth generation of Bluegrass Mountaineers, Tyler Efaw and Chris Wilcox are eager to learn their instruments at the young age of eight years old. In a quest to carry on the traditional bluegrass sound, the Bluegrass Mountaineers combine old time hammering, classic country yodeling and twin fiddles in their unique style. All members of the band take turns showcasing their vocal and instrumental abilities. Their love for traditional genuine bluegrass sound is evident every time they take the stage.

Hailing from rural Southeast Ohio, The Wayfarers emerged onto the scene playing their own form of American Roots music. While much of their repertoire is drawn from the Appalachian tradition they revere, The Wayfarers fuse tight musicianship - centered largely by the fiddle - with the high energy that characterized early mountain music. With old-time radio shows setting the example, their style encompasses Appalachian dance music, traditional mountain fiddle tunes, and pre-bluegrass music of the 1920’s - resulting in a dose of nostalgic Americana.

Acoustic Edge

New Outlook

Like so many country bands, Acoustic Edge owes it’s start to Nashville. Powerful vocalist Heidi McCloud and multi-instrumentalist Mitchell Ball first met there in a crowded honky tonk in 2009. They felt an instant musical connection, and were surprised to learn that they lived only 60 miles apart back in Ohio.

In 2009 Brad and Lori came together after both playing nationally with prominent and influential acts to create a band and a sound all of their own. Out of that union came, New Outlook. It’s no surprise that Brad and Lori Lambert are the driving force behind the wealth of talented bluegrass musicians including: Brad Lambert (lead vocals and banjo), Lori Lambert (lead vocals and bass), Caleb Daughtery (guitar), Dewayne Guffey (mandolin) all performing that unique soulful grassy sound that all fans love to hear.

The pair then became a trio when they added the upright bass and seasoned vocals of Steve Baxter, who sings lead and backup along with Heidi. More recently, experienced drummer Eric Frisch joined the band, rounding out the group’s pulse and creativity. Today, Acoustic Edge is on a mission to introduce you to your next favorite country song. From bygone classics like Jackson and current favorites like Mama’s Broken Heart to originals like Gypsy Soul, this working man’s band knows how to pick and play the songs that fans love to hear. Don’t be surprised when they stray from country on occasion to show their bluegrass roots or classic rock too.
