Fitness & Wellness Centre MAJOR EXPANSION PLANS
Providing opportunities for Members to enjoy an active lifestyle at all ages has always been a priority for Windsor, which boasts miles of trails, a golf course, tennis courts, an equestrian program and abundant green space.
Now, exciting plans for an expanded Fitness & Wellness Centre are moving forward.
Located in the heart of the Village Centre, Windsor’s fitness facility is undergoing a complete redesign increasing its overall size to nearly 16,000 square feet. The project will commence in May 2021 and is slated for completion in time for the start of the 2022-23 season.
Windsor’s development team is collaborating with longtime architectural partner, Merrill, Pastor & Colgan Architects to make the vision a reality.
“We looked at two potential sites and decided that ultimately expanding the facility in its current location in the central village made the most sense,” says Scott Merrill, principal of the Vero Beach firm. He added, “About 10 alternative designs were considered; some one-story and some two-story. Collectively we determined a one-story plan was suitably scaled for the Village Centre and afforded the most flexibility.” The existing clock tower structure with its observation deck will remain as a focal architectural feature of the new facility. Contiguous buildings will be laid out to maximize light and views to the north and east. Most every exercise space will enjoy light from two or three sides, with views of a central atrium or lawns, terraces, porches, the Equestrian Centre and gardens.
Also being incorporated into the new fitness and wellness offering at Windsor are additional outdoor recreational spaces located elsewhere in the community for activities such as pickleball.

obesity, as well as mental states of anxiety and depression are all proven to benefit from connection with nature and outdoor activities,” says Doug Chambers, who is collaborating with the Windsor development team on the concept, features and potential offerings at the new Fitness & Wellness Centre.
Chambers is co-founder of Blu Spas, Inc., an international spa design, consulting and management company that has worked on projects in
more than 40 countries including recently completed projects for the Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel near Athens, Greece, and Nobu Hotel Los Cabos in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
The development team also is exploring ways to incorporate the latest technology trends into Windsor’s fitness program. A sophisticated technological infrastructure is planned to accommodate today’s needs but also robust enough to embrace what is to come in the future.
Although planning was well underway when the Covid-19 pandemic impacted the world, the new facility’s design easily adapts to the current precautions being adopted, Chambers says. The design takes into consideration overall air quality, space to accommodate social distancing, contactless fitness options and vigorous sanitation protocols. Conceptual Rendering
