Boardwalk Park Rules

To ensure a safe Fourth of July celebration, the public is asked to respect the following:

• Glass is not permitted in town parks.

• Charcoal grills are prohibited, as well as gas grills more than 300 square inches and tanks weighing more than 1 pound or 16 ounces.

• Tents and portable shelters are prohibited after 6 p.m.

• Pets must be on leash at all times, though it is recommended to leave them at home during the fireworks display.

• Parking on State Hwy. 257 along Windsor Lake will be prohibited beginning at 7 a.m.

• After the fireworks show, the Windsor Police Department will be directing all vehicles in the area to make right turns only to assist with the flow of traffic.

• Cross railroad tracks at designated crossings.

Boating On Windsor Lake

July 4 is a non-motorized boating day. Boaters using personal watercraft can be on the water until 8 p.m. All personal watercraft outside of the swim beach must have a current Town of Windsor permit to use the lake. Watercraft rentals on Windsor Lake will be available from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Closures

The north section of the Dr. Tom Jones Trail at Windsor Lake, including the dog swim beach, will close at 8:30 p.m. Saturday evening, July 1, for fireworks setup. The trail will reopen Wednesday, July 5.

Disability Parking

5th St. will remain open for July 4. Turn lanes on 4th St. through 7th St. will close at dusk. Additional handicap parking will be available in the Boardwalk Park parking lot off Birch St. Turn lanes at 6th St. and 7th St. will be closed at 7 a.m.
