SIGNATURE EVENTS:
VENUE BRAND:
Manila FAME Manila FAME, the country's design and lifestyle event, is a bi-annual trade fair that features certified, export-quality products such as furniture and furnishings, holiday gifts and décor, garments, and fashion accessories designed and crafted in the Philippines for the global market. It is the second longest-running trade show in the Asia Pacific, and is the only trade event in the country that has been approved by UFI (Union des Foires Internationales) or the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry.
Manila Wear is a branding initiative that aims to position the Philippine fashion industry in the tropical/resort wear market segment; and push Philippine design and its unique sensibility that is better than the rest of Asia. Manila Wear reflects what the Philippines is all about: Tropical wear that is relaxed and unstructured. It is about rich, vibrant colors. It is comfortable, wearable apparel and accessories with texture and embellishment. “ It is everyday wear. It is special.” With International fashion icon Josie Natori as curator, Manila Wear continues to position the Philippines as an advocate of unique fashion pieces that combine artisanal crafts with contemporary sensibilities – a fresh take on a more individualized and personal style of fashion. It is about the juxtaposition of basic materials with iconic Philippine materials and artisanal creations. It is traditional yet contemporary. It is Philippines and yet it is global.

Olivia d’ Aboville Olivia d'Aboville, French-Filipino artist based in Manila, graduated with honors from ESAA Duperré in Paris in 2009. She specialized in tapestry and textile structures and has been exploring sculpting with textile techniques since then. Her first solo show at the Ayala Museum in 2010 in Manila led her to be shortlisted for the Ateneo Art Awards in 2011. She is inspired by the ocean and its sea creatures and translates them into contemporary textile jewelry. She up-cycles unconventional materials related to the sea such as fishnets and fishing lines and recycles plastic objects such as water bottles and plastic spoons. "70% of plastic waste end up in the sea"; such striking statistics motivates her to try to raise awareness in the importance of preserving the ocean and its biodiversity through her works. Olivia ventured in the design industry in 2012 when she was first welcomed by Kenneth Cobonpue's design house Hive. Her Anemone lamp made of up-cycled cocktail stirrers has been showcased in the major design fairs around the world. It landed a spot at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris for ELLE Décoration magazine's 25th year anniversary exhibit in 2012. Olivia was representing the Philippines and was selected among 30 other young up-coming designers around the world.

Adante Leyesa Adante L. Leyesa is a new breed in accessory design. He offers distinctively innovative handcrafted bejeweled accessories. His jewelry pieces are formed using variety of materials: local weaves, woods semi-precious stones, tiny beads, metal chains and multi-step processes forming thoughts and feelings; discovery and craft; story and art. The designer is a self-taught artist, who started creating pieces only as a hobby which was intended to be used by siblings and gifts to friends. When his collections stocked, that prompted him to transform this passion into a money-making venture. The Adante Collections, as a business, was established only in the last quarter of 2010. The collections were first introduced in October 2010 in a Bazaar organized by a TV network. To date, the collections are now available in four local boutiques. From the six (6) out-ofschool youth in he trained from his hometown Lipa, Batangas, who continuously assisted him in the beginning of my design ventures, he is now an active volunteer in-house designer of the Antique Atelier, a design lab established by and for the Association of Disabled Person (ADP) – Antique located in San Jose de Buenavista, Province of Antique. Accessory Designer & Social Entrepreneur
The Adante Collections takes inspiration from the materials itself, the nature and various mediums, like famous personalities, color trends, cultural influences absorbed during local travels. The designer’s current collection is called Paradiso. Inspired by the renaissance, the pieces were textured and coloured deeply to make it appear as if it was part of a painting made during the renaissance.

Ken Samudio Young talent Ken Samudio is the only accessory designer in the Preview Emerging Fashion Talent Award (PEFTA) roster this year. Embarking on the world of accessory design with no formal training in fashion, this emerging designer started a brand of headpieces, hats, and accessories called Matthew & Melka in 2008. Soon, magazine editors and celebrities started taking notice of his creations. He describes his aesthetic as "classic with a quirky and playful feel." He loves to use unorthodox materials for his eye-catching designs, imbuing them with a lot of quirk and personality. "I believe fashion should not be taken too seriously," he says. "It's supposed to be fun and should make the wearer feel confident and happy. My pieces don't compete for attention but instead complement the woman wearing it… It just goes to prove that as long as you are passionate with what you do, success and recognition will follow." Ken Samudio's organic rise in the fashion industry is one for the books. Armed with a degree in Biology with no formal training and no connection in fashion, he put up the luxury headpiece brand Matthew&Melka after seeing a void in the local luxury headwear industry. It wasn't until 2011 when Preview Magazine chose Ken Samudio as one of the finalists of the prestigious Preview Emerging Fashion Talent Awards 2011 ( PEFTA ) that he launched his eponymous label Ken Samudio, a luxury brand of handmade accessories and jewelry aimed at creating functional works of adornment with the intention of producing one of a kind pieces combining luxurious materials with street-style, quirky aesthetics. Ken's work has been exhibited in Hongkong, worn by Sarah Jessica Parker and will soon show at the London Fashion Week come Feb 2014.
