Entertainment - Main Stage

Stellar* Legendary Kiwi favourites Stellar* join a superb line-up for the Marlborough Wine and Food Festival. Stellar* first burst onto New Zealand’s music scene 20 years ago, smashing out five radio hits in 18 months - Violent, What You Do (Bastard), Undone, Every Girl, and Part of Me –, with their debut album Mix (1999) reflecting their unique blend of rock and electronica. The band broke up eight years ago, but after some gentle persuasion, Stellar* reformed late 2017. The band still features the same lineup that released their first single in 1998. That line-up is Boh Runga (vocals, guitar), Andrew Maclaren (drums, programming), Kurt Shanks (bass) and Chris van de Geer (guitar).

My Baby This Dutch-New Zealand trio play roots-driven hypnotic dance. It’s a sound informed by gospel and blues that is fused with ancient folk melodies. Added to that is the rawness of 70s funk, African desert blues, Moroccan gnawa, Indian raga and a touch of EDM all played on guitars and drums without using computers or samples. Based in Amsterdam, My Baby have been spreading their psychedelic blues-trance rave to the approval of audiences worldwide since 2012, featuring at renowned festivals such as Glastonbury (UK), Isle of Wight Festival (UK) and Fusion (Germany).

New World Culinary Pavilion The 2019 Marlborough Wine and Food Festival brings more new and exciting changes in the Culinary Pavilion. This year we’re launching the New Zealand Home Chef Cook-Off series, which will see two of the best home cooks in the country go head-to-head with a celebrity chef (sponsored by our food partners). Each party will be given a mystery box of the same local ingredients and challenged to create the best dish they can, on stage, in just 45 minutes. If that’s not enough culinary excitement, we’ll also be holding our fantastic cooking demonstrations throughout the day, with our chefs showing you what culinary creations are possible with the amazing produce we’ve sourced from right here in Marlborough.
