I am sonic memories (Sound Installation/ Instrument/ Performance, 2019) The piece is divided into 2 parts. The materials are the same for every part. For the first part 12 Cassette players are playing different tape loops, but instead of producing sound, they produce light with an electronic circuit I made. 4 tape loops storage a sentence of my memory childhood, other fours are playing excerpts of pieces I composed in the past and the other four tape loops are playing sounds I recorded with my voice. The 12 cassette players are setting up in different places on a stand in a dark room. At the center of the room, there is a toy piano in which the audience can play with it, the sound of the piano is processed in a computer program in order to create a sound environment. The result for the first part is a sound ambient of light in which the spectator can change depending on what they are playing in the toy piano. The second part consists in a performance, in which I use the installation as an instrument. I collect the tape loops (they are being played and creating light) and I reproduce them in the 3 different cassette players (apart of the sound installation) in order to listen what was storage in the tape loop. Also, when I take one take a loop it stops producing light, therefore the room starts to be darker. I am sonic memories transmutes the different states of sounds, at first as light and later as a sound, although the material is the same, the interpretation of it is changing, like a memory in which our head we recreate and re-recreate, adding or subtracting events or pointing one part of our memories. Material: 15 cassette players, 12 tape loops, 12 sound/ light circuits, 1 Toy piano, 5 lights. Link of performance: https://youtu.be/0ooW0M254-A
