The Annual Western States Ranch Rodeo Association National Finals returns to Winnemucca! The WSRRA is now under new ownership, with the traditional goal of allowing the full-time and the average day working cowboy, working men and women, to have an opportunity to compete in sanctioned ranch rodeo events. The National Finals is bringing the best of the best competitors to town to claim the world title with a possible payout totaling over $40,000 for the Open Teams! Throughout this 2023year, Ranch Rodeos sanctioned through the WSRRA were produced. These cowboys and cowgirls competed to qualify for WSRRA finals. 1-3 Teams are invited to the finals from each of the sanctioned events. WSRRA has 37 Open Ranch Rodeo Teams, 21 Women’s Teams and 7 Junior/ Senior Teams from sanctioned ranch rodeos attending the finals. The top 20 Bronc Riders and top 20 Steer Stoppers based on points have been invited to the finals. Not just a Rodeo! The WSRRA has a great family friendly 3 days planned for event goers including a Trade Show exhibiting over 28 amazing vendor booths perfect for Christmas shopping, along with food, and drinks. Kids boot races hap-

pen during Thursday and Friday’s Performance starting at 6:00 pm each night. Friday following the slack performance at approximately 4:00 pm will be a kids' dummy roping competition. Supporting the WSRRA crisis foundation is a way to give back to members and their families. At the first WSRRA National Finals, held in 2010 at the Winnemucca Event Center in Winnemucca, Nevada, the WSRRA Cowboy Crisis Fund was started. A raffle is being held this year to benefit this year’s recipient. This year’s recipient is Bronc Vineyard from Arvada Wyoming, is a 15 yr old cowboy whose life changed drastically on September 22,2023. What started out as what we thought was strep throat turned into a diagnosis of Leukemia and a medic flight to Denver Childrens Hospital the same night as the diagnosis. Once in Denver with in 24 hours Bronc and his mom had been given the news that he had B Cell ALL leukemia, the most common as well as the most treatable form of leukemia. Bronc has started treatment and by the end of October is hoping that the cancer will be in remission, and then will continue treatment in Billings for the next 2.5 years. He will not be able to rope or play basketball for most likely a full year, with

hopes to being able to do so his junior or senior year full time. Bronc has a sister who is 13 and is staying with her grandparents while Bronc and his mom are away in Denver. The family is anxiously waiting to be together again and start the journey to healing Bronc from their ranch in Arvada. He is the son of Toby and Amy Vineyard. Toby was a long-time member of the WSRRA. WSRRA also organizes a scholarship award. Funding for scholarship awards the selling of Custom made Bridle Set. John and Kristen Mincer donated the bit, rein chains, reins and hardware for the headstall and Ricardo’s Saddlery donated the headstall. Reins made by John Glascok. Silent Auction is located at the event center. Starts Wednesday, November 1 and ends Saturday, November 4 half an hour after the short round ends. You do not need to be present to win.
