Artist and designer William Morris founded the company in 1861 and it quickly became highly regarded for its handmade wallpapers, textiles, and furniture. From Fair to Field: The Field Museum’s Roots in the Columbian Exposition

A Reading Program for Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers 1000 BOOKS BEFORE KINDERGARTEN

1000 Books Before Kindergarten is an early literacy program designed to encourage families and caregivers to read at least 1,000 books before their young children enter kindergarten. Learning to read begins long before a child enters kindergarten. Reading to your children is the best way to prepare them for school. In as little as 15 minutes a day, families can build the skills for future success in school and life.

How to Read 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

1 Book Per Day for 3 Years = 1095 Books 10 Books Per Week for 2 Years = 1040 Books 3 Books Per Day for 1 Year = 1095 Books

How Does This Program Work?

Track your reading

Each time you read a book with your child, fill in a circle on the reading log.

Show us your reading log

For every 100 books read, bring your reading log to the Library receive a sticker and your next log. Staff will update your participation status.

Read more books

Keep collecting log sheets until you reach 1,000 books. It might take a while, but that’s okay!

Celebrate!

When you reach 1,000 books, receive your finishing prize and certificate of completion.
