New Book & DVD Lending Periods The Library Board approved a new lending policy. Now all new adult DVDs may be borrowed for four days and renewed once (if there are no holds). All new books will be loaned for 14 days, and may be renewed four times (if there are no holds).

Laptops Available for Use Laptop computers are available for use within the Library. Check them out at the Adult Services desk with a library card, driver’s license or school ID.

Get Reading! Summer reading is a great way to encourage reading as a lifelong habit, keep reading skills sharp, and encourage interest in books, new ideas and learning. In keeping with our “Spark a Reaction” theme, we have fun sciencethemed programs (and great prizes) for every age! Everyone receives a book tote for signing up, and prizes are awarded throughout your progress. Sign up for the program online at winnetkalibrary.org, or in person at the Library. Keep track of your progress online from your smartphone or computer, or with a paper reading log.

Kids Children (through grade 4) can choose between reading eight books, or log their reading by minutes, for a total of 12 hours.

Teens Students in grade 5-8 are challenged to read 6 books, and will be entered in a drawing to win a $10 gift certificate for each book they complete. When they finish 3 books, they’ll get a set of earbuds. When they’ve finished all 6 books, they’ll get a free book and be entered into the grand prize drawing. High schoolers have the option of participating in the Teen or Adult program.
