Fifty-three postings were looking for those with 0-2 years of experience indicating a majority of the online ads advertising experience were for entry-level positions.

Employers of skilled trades occupations in Livingston County most often prefer workers with a high school degree/equivalent or vocational training with 101 (61 percent of postings with desired education) online ads advertising these levels of educational attainment as a preferred or necessary qualification. Skilled Trades In-Demand Skills The occupations in the skilled trades group require a wide array of high-level technical skills. Machinery, Welding, Repair, Inspection, and other traditional skills remain the most common in skilled trades job postings. Management skills were also present in many of the skilled labor postings including scheduling, time management, and manufacturing processes. Advanced technical skills such as mathematics do appear through the skills list most likely coinciding with the demand for procedural knowledge. Employers also look for communication, safety, and assessment skills when posting Skilled Trade jobs. These skills are imperative for skilled trades so that collaboration can be fostered in a safe and flowing environment.

The majority of advertised salaries (66 postings or 73 percent of postings that expressed a salary) in the skilled trades group in Q1 2017 were below $35,000 a year. However, four of the top ten indemand occupations made median wages over $20 an hour, which translates to workers making over $40,000 a year.
