News Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 1, 2010
Butch Bakery Announces First Public Location NEW YORK CITY – Butch Bakery will open its first public store on Apr. 1, 2010. The shop will be located at 215 Broadway St. This location will broaden the company‟s business by providing individual cupcake sales to the public. Butch Bakery is a company that specializes in making masculine-themed cupcakes. Until now, they have been solely available online. This new physical location will provide a convenient alternative to web-based purchases. The Butch Bakery concept came about when founder David Arrick read a description of the cupcake being “pink, sweet, cute, and magical.” Arrick left his Wall Street job to focus on bringing a „manly‟ edge to the classic dessert. “By giving the delicacies a theme, it adds a certain element of fun,” said Arrick. “That‟s really what it all comes down to, putting a humorous characteristic to this timeless treat.” The company has done quite well. More than 1,000 orders have been delivered since Butch Bakery opened in December 2009. Arrick claims the majority of the customers are women. “We love the girls, we love the guys, we love the gays. We‟ll sell to anyone.”
