TBTS News Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Mar. 22, 2010 Turtle Bay Theater Society to Produce “Evita” TURTLE BAY, Ill. – The Turtle Bay Theater Society (TBTS) is pleased to announce their upcoming production of “Evita.” For two weeks in late April and early March the Hale Hall Theater Center will host this critically-acclaimed musical. “This is one show you’re not going to want to miss,” says Dale Levenson, director and drama professor. “We’ve got a terrific cast and a great production crew.” “Evita” is a rock musical based on the true story of Eva Peron. The tale follows Eva as she struggles to become an actress in Argentina, and eventually marries the Argentine dictator Juan Peron. Her uprising to fame and charitable work eventually makes her the new ‘face’ of Argentina. This story is mesmerizingly told through the music of Andrew Lloyd Weber. Weber is reveled as a musical legend, composing scores for musicals such as “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” and “Jesus Christ Superstar.” Tim Rice, the lyricist, is best known for his work on musicals such as “The Lion King,” “Beauty & the Beast,” and “Aida.” TBTS is proud to have former ensemble member Laura Jensen back to play the title role of Eva. Some may remember Jensen from last year’s production of “Candide,” when she played Conegade. Local club performer Harold Stein makes his stage debut in “Evita” as Che, the lead male role. The Turtle Bay Chamber Ensemble has joined the cast and crew as the show’s orchestra. “Evita” will open on Apr. 29, 2010 and run for two weeks. Evening performances are on Thur, Fri, Sat, and Sun at 8 p.m. Additionally, there will be 2:30 p.m. performances on Sat and Sun. Tickets are on sale now for $10 each and can be purchased by calling the Hale Hall Theater Center box office at 309-333-9900. Box office representatives will be available to process ticket orders Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Turtle Bay Theater Society is a local production company dedicated to providing the community with quality theatrical events. TBTS showcases local talent in each production. With TBTS, you can expect a great night out without even leaving the neighborhood.
