The Monroe Abbey
Adaptive re-use design for the former Phoenix First Baptist Church, now known as the Monroe Abbey
The Monroe Abbey reisdes right in the heart of Downtown Phoenix, and it has a very long history spanning well over 100 years. In the first few decades of its opening, it was used regularly for Baptist church services, but in 1984, there was a fire which consumed the roof of the church. As a result, there is now a central “courtyard” that is left open to the elements.
