“The complete vision and outcome, along with all the hard work, is all thanks to both of them,” said Cathy Sutton regional manager at Seven Oaks Resort. While in their search for just the right plants, garden nurseries have thanked them for their vision to create this habitat for the birds and butterflies of the area, she added.
There are at leasttendifferentbirdfeeders. There is even one that holds an orange and jelly for the birds that have a sweet tooth.
“We have really begun to notice a lot more birds have taken an interest in the garden,” said Sutton.
“We have also been successful in attracting the monarch butterflies as well,” Sutton continued. In late October, early November, plants that supports all phases of the Monarch life cycle were put in the garden. They saw immediate results. “We have been noticing a lot of monarch caterpillars, and have been able to watch their entire transformation in changing from a caterpillar to a chrysalis, and then finally the amazing butterfly.” It’s been so successful they will be starting the process of creating another bird and butterfly garden elsewhere in the park while still adding to the current one. “There is an amazing crew of

His son, Travis, visiting from Minnesota, loved the state-of-the-art beer taps. Jerry’s wife, Sue, called the place “a treasure.”
Landa, who had given the Cherriers a tour of the Landmark earlier, is considering a Winter Texan Day, probably with a late afternoon start time
Corn hole competition takes place outside twice a month. A lot of people come to see the teams compete, which are created through a blind-drawing.
Landa said he is very passionate about the property, which can be seen in the lighting and sound system with its 16 speakers both outside and inside. He also has 16 high-definition security cameras and off-duty police officers for added security. Even the spacious restrooms include a few special features. Most of the renovations were the work of his employees along with the creation of the outdoor furniture.
His interest in the historical is going to play out with a wall of Alamo history in the building. He has been collecting old photos of Alamo business places, people and events that he plans to mount on a couple walls for customers to view. It is intended to honor many who made Alamo what it is today. It’s also a reminder to him of things he saw and did growing up.
It is obvious the businessman is proud of his latest accomplishment, which he credits the city of Alamo of having been of important help along the way. And this three-quarter million food truck court investment is one of the ways of giving back which old and young alike can enjoy, he indicated, hopefully jettisoning their smart phone technology for a while.
The Landmark on Tower is open Tuesday through Sunday, with hours of 6 to 10 p.m. weekdays, and 6 to 11 p.m. on weekends. eating New Year’s food, praying, toasting, making noise, giving a gift, the countdown to a midnight kiss, singing “Auld Lang Syne,” and sending thank you notes.
One that we have added to our traditions is eating black eyed peas. We have made a couple of different recipes over the years, and plan on trying a new one this year that incorporates bacon and some other things that are included in the New Year’s food category. And you can’t forget the cornbread. I will admit we don’t do this every year…. My husband and I are the only ones that usually eat the dish in our household. But I remember growing up with the tradition and having it at home or at my grandparents’ farm.
What are your traditions that you do every year? Are there ones that you hope that your kids/family continue to teach their own kids? ********

WELCOME
Whether you prefer nature and the out-doors, historical sites, parks, fishing, boat-ing, or parasailing over the surf at South Padre Island, the Rio Grande Valley has it all. Visitors can enjoy all the Valley has to offer year-round due to the Valley’s mild winter weather. Over 100,000 Winter Texans stay for the winter season to enjoy our warm, subtropical climate with an average temperature of 65-70 degrees. Winter Texans are not the only ones who have discovered the Rio Grande Valley. Birding, butterfly, and nature enthusiasts from all parts of the country come to the Valley every year, attracted by the 545 species of birds and 330 butterfly species that are either native to the area or that migrate through the Valley each year. Because of its neo-tropical climate, the Rio Grande Valley is home to many tropical birds that can be seen nowhere else in the United States. It is also a major bird migration corridor with two major flyways converging here. The Rio Grande Valley is also a place full of history. From battle sites to the only lighthouse on the gulf shores, to museums with artifacts, to chapels, historic homes, and old
To The Rio Grande Valley stores. Every Valley city has a story to tell. Whether you are a Winter Texan, a family with young children, or just someone that enjoys the outdoors, his-tory and culture, the Rio Grande Val-ley has something to offer everyone. In our Visitor’s Guide this year you will find something new. We have included beautiful maps that pinpoint featured locations through the Valley. We have broken up the area into eight regions, so whatever area you are visiting, you have a map to see what is close to you. With all there is to see and do in the Rio Grande Valley, we hope you en-joy your stay!

Sudoku
Clues Down
Here’s How It Works
Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle!
