Quick Write as a Vehicle for Teaching Writing Skills May 14
7 - 8:30 PM Hamlin Robinson School Sponsored by WABIDA This lecture is geared toward families and educators alike.
The Quick-Write is a simple, flexible teaching format that can be used to customize writing instruction. LD students often get overwhelmed by school writing assignments because of the necessity of integrating multiple writing skills. Quick-Writes can be used to systematically address limited, defined goals and to teach to these goals in small loops of instruction and practice. Attendees will leave with strategies for breaking up assignments into chunks that are more workable and less overwhelming for the student as well as numerous Quick Write examples that can be immediately implemented. Nicole Swedberg Instructor for Reading and Elementary Education in the School of Education, completed her Master's of Education in Reading at Seattle Pacific University, where she has also been a graduate assistant and adjunct in the School of Education.Nicole is presently in the Doctor of Education program. She will be teaching in undergraduate literacy areas such as Reading Methods. This lecture is part of WABIDA's 2014-2015 Lecture Series. Clock hours are available for these events, sponsored by Brightmont Academy. All are welcome. http://campaign.r20.constantcontact.com/render?ca=ce8e4ba6-98a‌1e3-a23d-d4ae5292c38a&ch=932af390-1f05-11e3-a251-d4ae5292c38a
