ALL ABOUT THE DESTINATION

After a tough couple of years we are all slowly starting to get used to venturing out again and making the most of some of our wonderful local pubs. Here are some that are well worth going the extra mile for...

High Street, Rowde SN10 2PN The Cross Keys is traditional pub in the centre of Rowde village that has recently come under new management. A real hub of the community, it offers everything you expect from a great local – proper Wadworth beers, regular quiz nights and live music, a pool table, juke box, dart boards, a skittle alley and tasty, good value homecooked food.

As well as being a friendly village local, their weekly carvery attracts diners from far and wide. Served every Sunday, you can enjoy a large plate for just £12.50 or a small plate for only £9.50 (children under 8 eat free with a paying adult too!). You get a choice of three meats and all-you-can-eat trimmings (nut roast and vegetarian gravy also available).

Book early to avoid disappointment by phone or by popping into the pub. You can also get in touch via their Facebook page, fb.com/ CrossKeysRowde

They have since built it into a popular destination for many locals and visitors, all of whom enjoy the pub that they have re-created.

All are welcome, whether they just want to pop in for ‘a swift one’ while walking the dog, to sit down and enjoy drinks with friends, or eat a good meal with a drink in a relaxing atmosphere. Delicious, freshly cooked food is available Thursday to Saturday (roasts are available every Sunday too) to eat in or takeaway, and there’s a pizza oven that gets fired up on sunny weekend days too. When the warmer weather arrives you can kick back and relax in the lovely garden, complete with play area for the kids, right on the edge of beautiful Wiltshire countryside.

THE WHITE HART

Lane End, Corsley, Warminster BA12 7NE Ideally situated for a stop off on the way to or from Longleat or Center Parcs, The White Hart at Corsley is a great little pub that offers a warm welcome from landlady Adelle and good hearty pub food thanks to head chef Stephen. interior with a proper drinking bar space in between. Stephen runs a ‘fresh’ kitchen, nothing is frozen and everything is prepared and cooked from fresh ingredients. As well as his various forms of Yorkshire puddings – thanks to his Yorkshire roots - another of The White Hart’s specialities are Stephen’s authentic curries. He buys his spices direct from Asian supermarkets and makes authentic curries from across the Indian subcontinent and Asia. In the bar you’ll find a range of beers, including local real ales, and some more unusual options from further afield. They also have a selection of ciders on tap, all for under £4 a pint.

Adelle has a range of great events lined up for later in the year including live music, car club meetings and bulldog walks (it’s a dog friendly place!) to name but a few. Find them on Facebook for all the latest plans.
