Mastershoe has been owned and run by Robert Giles since its inception

Celebrating 40 years of trading this year, Mastershoe established in 1982 selling top branded footwear from many key brands including Skechers, Timberland, Fly London, Strive, Merrell, Hoka One One, The North Face and many more.

Owned by Robert Giles, Mastershoe started trading in Walcot Street in Bath in 1982. Robert has run Mastershoe since its inception and had no previous retail experience when he started the company! He quickly learned that shoes were an interesting and challenging product to sell and with the help of a business college course - and being lucky enough to employ some outstanding staff - the business went from

strength to strength. By 2005 had established a chain of 8 stores. Since then online retailing has really taken off and despite the many challenges facing both retail and online businesses, Mastershoe has made a successful transition from all high street stores to a mix of eCommerce and a high street presence with their store in the centre of Trowbridge.

Robert puts the success of the business down to the staff he employs. He says, “The staff are key to the success of Mastershoe, I have been incredibly lucky to have employed some outstanding staff over the 40 years I have been in business, none more so than the team I work with now. It is a pleasure to come to work. Without good staff a company cannot succeed and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my staff, past and present. Mastershoe wouldn’t be what it is today without them.”
