Our mission is to support a sustainable agricultural economy in Southeastern Wisconsin by connecting residents in the region with food and agricultural products that are produced, processed, and sold locally.

Farm Fresh Facts What is Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)? CSA is a way to buy local food directly from a farmer. You purchase a “share” and become a farm “member.” You then receive a box of vegetables or other farm products regularly throughout the growing season. CSA is much more than just a weekly delivery of food. CSA is a powerful investment in your health, community, and local economy. It’s a partnership between farms and consumers that keeps independent businesses thriving, helps families eat seasonal, local produce, and charges farmers and consumers with the responsibility of building a strong, equitable food system. Find out more about CSA in Wisconsin atcsacoalition.org. Wisconsin is a leader in organic agriculture, ranking second behind California in the total number of certified organic farms. Most American farmers receive only 14.8 cents of every dollar that consumers spend on food at home and away from home. At farmers markets, farmers head home with upwards of 90 cents on the dollar. Wisconsin agriculture provides 413,500 jobs or 11.9% of the state’s employment. 3 out of 4 crops producing fruit or seeds for humans rely on pollinators, like bees, for production. Sustainable agriculture reduces risk to pollinators by diversiving the agricultural landscape and making use of ecological processes as a part of food production. More than 85% of farmers market vendors traveled fewer than 50 miles to sell at a farmers markets. Compare that to most supermarkets where 7-14 days can go by between the time produce is picked and when it becomes available to shoppers. In that time, fruits and vegetables travel, on average, more than 1,200 miles before reaching grocery store shelves.

Tucked away in rural Waterloo, Anisoptera Acres is a beautiful, environmentally-friendly family farm. We offer pasture-raised pork and beef, free-range chicken, and honey. We use no hormones, antibiotics or animal by-products. We offer bulk meat sales and a la carte delivery to Madison area homes.

Baker’s Polled Hereford farm is located in the southern edge of the Kettle Moraine area near Lauderdale and Pleasant Lakes, halfway between Elkhorn and Whitewater. We raise quality Hereford beef from our registered herd developed during the past 50 years. Our mother cows raise their calves on our pastures. We raise their feed here on our farm. We do not feed antibiotics, artificial hormones or animal by-products. Our Hereford beef is noted for excellent taste and quality. FARMS & PRODUCERS T O M AT O B A S I L B R U S C H E T TA Cut tomatoes into quarters and squeeze gently to remove the seeds and pulp. Use the seeds and pulp in soup. Chop tomatoes coarsely into ½” pieces. Roll basil leaves into a tight cigar and thinly slice. Mix all together with the oil and toss with hot pasta, spread on toasted baguette slices over a schmear of soft cheese, or use as a topping for pizza or a baked potato.

We are a small family-run farm, raising all of our animals on pasture! We offer chickens, Broad Breasted White and heritage turkeys, heritage Tamworth and Large Black pigs, and grass-fed/ grass-finished Galloway beef. No hormones or antibiotics are used.

We have been growing apples since the 1920’s. Presently, the third and fourth generation of our family cares for the orchard and raises over 30 varieties of apples and several varieties of pears. The orchard also features honey from our hives and fresh cider pressed from our apples.

Over something as simple as a transaction for five pounds of apples, the customers radiate appreciation for the place and our work. Maybe they’ve been showing up in autumn since they were children or maybe the place is new to them, but they are delighted to be in a setting that seems out of time.
