\ The Craven Hotel Case Study \ The Capilon Group - owners of the Craven Hotel on Craven Terrace, a 3 star boutique hotel with 34 bedrooms in London chose Fireworks to design and install a VID Low Pressure Watermist system to protect the hotel.
The Craven Hotel is situated on Craven Terrace, just a few minutes walk from Paddington Station and Lancaster Gate Tube Station The low pressure pump based system was specially developed and engineered using discharge spray heads located in areas of the hotel that needing protecting and is capable of producing fine water droplets within the range of 150-300 microns in size.
Performance The fire suppression ability of fine Watermist has been recognised for many years. This performance is due to the large total surface area of the droplets combined with the high speed at which they convert to steam and absorb the energy of the fire. The average Watermist droplet has a total surface area at least 50 times greater than that obtained by a conventional sprinkler system for the same volume of water. Having extinguished a fire, Watermist will continue to cool the source preventing re-ignition and at the same time dramatically reducing the harmful products of combustion.
Risks covered The main risks at the Hotel could be electrical faults, heating appliances, smoking, arson, flammable liquids, construction issues, and or other.
Compliance The system was designed and commissioned to NFPA 750 recommendations and comply with Local Authority and Supply Utilities Rules and Regulations. Allianz, insure the building and Belmont International are the brokers.
