Sir Ken Knight Chicken tonight... visits Fireworks Fireworks wins Nando's Installation
In September welcomed the visit of Sir Ken Knight. It was part of our on going support of the Firemark and Firekills campaign. Sir Ken had a live demonstration of our high pressure watermist systems in our demonstration unit at our offices in Attleborough ending in a tour of our manufacturing facility. operational response by fire and rescue services for the 2012 Olympics.
As you are aware we have successfully won the contract to supply the 15AMPU Kitchen fire Suppression systems into the new Nando's Restaurant in Taunton. They have decided to install our high pressure watermist system on the recommendation of their insurance company. The Hydramist® 15AMPU is the first watermist product in the world to be included in the highly regarded "LPCB Red Book" for LPS1223 approved Kitchen Suppression Systems. This install was quickly followed by a second at Wandsworth following a fire. Both installs went well and we look forward to many more during 2014.
Sir Ken Knight recently published an efficiencies review commissioned by the government of the 46 Fire and Rescue Authorities in England. Until January this year he was the Government’s Chief Fire and Rescue Adviser for England holding the post since 2007, advising Ministers and senior officials on fire policy matters and, providing advice during major and catastrophic emergencies. He was also responsible for the enforcement of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order in Crown premises in England and provided assurance to Government regarding the fire safety arrangements and
He has also produced reports on the widespread flooding in 2007 and was tasked by the Secretary of State at the Department of Communities and Local Government to undertake a review in the immediate aftermath of the fire at Lakanhal House, Camberwell, London in 2009 in which 6 people tragically died. Her Majesty the Queen awarded Sir Ken the Queens’ Fire Service Medal in 1991 and the CBE in 2001. He was appointed as Her Majesty’s Deputy representative Lieutenant for Richmond upon Thames in 2007. Sir Ken was Knighted in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2006 in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the fire and rescue service.
All work and no play We have recently returned from a very successful networking event at the Contracts Interiors Forum held at the Epic Sana Resort on the Algarve. Business Events and run from Thursday 19th to Saturday 21st September saw us meet a large number of buyers associated with purchasing
for the Hotel Leisure and Restaurant sectors and supported both our high pressure OH1 and 15AMPU products. As one of the first companies to pass the CEN TS14972 2011 OH1 Test for High Pressure Watermist our products were very relevant to the hotel industry as they are always looking at effect ways of protection them from the risk of fire.
We presented to a large number of buyers including Nigel Graham form Whitbread. Nigel is responsible for a procurement budget of over 2.5 billion pounds and is
responsible for Premier Inn, Beefeater, Table. We were able to present our 15AMPU system to him during the event.
Engineers... We need your help Over the last 12 months our Google advertising campaign has helped us secure enquiries from a number of sectors. These have been driven from our Case Studies.
We are looking at producing more of these in the New Year and we do need you help on site. As we offer specialist systems we are keen to have photos of the installations as they are completed. This isn’t just images of the nozzles installed etc but more of the location.
We will be offering a £25.00 voucher for John Lewis for any photos that are good enough to be used. If you feel you are budding David Bailey’s them please email any photos to Steve on the following email address: stitterington@fireworks-ltd.com
Congratulations
Hot and Steamy
Congratulations to Lewis who became a father for the first time this November as Kate gave birth to Florence a beautiful baby sister for Lilley. Florence is doing well and Lewis is looking forward to his first Christmas.
During November Hydramist carried out a number of fire tests for the new sauna protocol at the BRE. These tests were overseen by a number of Key Fire Accessors from a number of insurance companies. The fire testing went well and we now have a great opportunity of selling our 15AMPU’s into this sector and we are currently contacting clients in this market. The testing has followed on from the successful installations for Virgin Active.
Keeping it in the Family
The photograph shows Howard explaining the system to the insurers prior to the tests.
December 23rd is Megan’s last day in the office before departing for Maternity leave. Megan is due to give birth in February and we all wish her and Phil well. I’m sure that you will all agree that she has done a great job looking after the maintenance department over the last few years and the office will miss her banter. Megan has now past on the mantle to her mother Sue who will be stepping into her shoes to cover this department. We welcome Sue to the team and wish her well in her new role.
...and finally In January we welcome the appointment of Simon Fountain. Simon is joining us a project manager to work alongside Gary and the engineering team. Simon has previously been working with Marioff nationally as a project manager on their installation contracts. We wish Simon well and welcome him to the team.
