The warp is winded according to the designs after the weaving is done. The specialty of the loom is that it small and portable but requires strenuous work, since it has to be rebuilt every time. This frame is then transferred to the weaver who creates the shed using bamboo pole, head stick, lease stick, and wooden rods which are used for different functions of the loom. COVER STORY Vaisakhi marks the Sikh new year and commemorates the formation of Khalsa panth of warriors under Guru Gobind Singh in 1699. It is a spring harvest festival for the Sikhs. Vaisakhi is also an ancient festival of Hindus, marking the Solar New Year and also celebrating the spring harvest. It marks the sacredness of rivers in Hindu culture, it is regionally known by many names, but celebrated in broadly similar ways.

26

Vaisakhi observes major events in the history of Sikhism. The significance of Vaisakhi as a major Sikh festival marking the birth of Sikh order started after the persecution and execution of Guru Tegh Bahadur for refusing to convert to Islam under the orders of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. This triggered the coronation of the tenth Guru of Sikhism and the historic formation of Khalsa, both on the Vaisakhi day. Vaisakhi was also the day when colonial British empire officials committed the Jallianwala Bagh massacre on a gathering, an event influential to the Indian movement against colonial rule. On Vaisakhi, Gurdwaras are decorated and hold kirtans, WWW.WISHESH.COM | MAY 2017

The Panj Pyare were then baptized in a unique ceremony called pahul. Guru Gobind Singh prepared amrit (holy water) in a bowl using a short steel sword. Then the Guru’s wife, Mata Sundri, added patashas (sugar crystals) into the amrit. Sikhs visit and bathe in lakes or rivers before visiting local Gurdwaras, community fairs and nagar kirtan processions are held and people gather to socialize and share festive foods. For many Hindus, the festival is their traditional solar new year, a harvest festival, an occasion to bathe in sacred rivers such as Ganges, Jhelum and Kaveri, visit temples, meet friends and party over festive foods. This festival in Hinduism is known by various regional names. On Vaisakhi day in 1699, Guru Gobind Singh summoned Sikhs from all over India to the city of Anandpur Sahib. At this gathering, the Guru called upon Sikhs to uphold their faith and preserve the Sikh religion. Guru Gobind Singh then lifted his sword and asked that anyone prepared

to give his life for his faith to come forward. There was a big silence, but the Guru went on repeating his demand. One Sikh finally came forward and followed the Guru into a tent. Shortly after, the Guru reappeared alone with his sword covered in blood, and asked for a second volunteer. Another Sikh stepped forward and again the Guru took him into the tent, and re-appeared alone with his sword covered with blood. This was repeated until five Sikhs had offered their heads for the Guru. Finally, the Guru emerged from the tent with all five men dressed piously in blue. Guru Gobind Singh called the five Sikhs the Panj Pyare, the Five Beloved Ones. The Panj Pyare were then baptized in a unique ceremony called pahul.

Slaying of

Dhenukasura Krishna and Balarama were entrusted with the grazing of cows at the age of six. One day one of Krishna’s friends, Sridama, said to him with great affection: “O Krishna! I have heard of an extensive palm grove not far from here. The palm trees bear wonderful fruits. They are very tasty. But we cannot get them because a wicked demon by name Dhenuka guards the grove and lives there. He even eats humans. So whoever goes there is swallowed up by him. Even cows and birds avoid that place. But the palm fruits are very sweet. Even from here we get their fragrance. All our friends are craving to taste those fruits. Only you will be able to fulfill our wish. Will you get the fruits for us?” Hearing the words of his friend, Krishna laughed and ever ready to oblige them, started for the forest

of palms accompanied by the other boys. As soon as they entered the grove, the mighty Balarama shook the palm trees with great strength like an elephant and the fruits fell down in clusters. Hearing the sound Dhenukasura came running in the guise of a big ass. He rushed towards Balarama in great anger and kicked him on his chest. And then he started frightening all the boys by running around braying loudly. Again he went to attack Balarama. But Balarama caught hold of his two hind legs and whirled him round and round above his head and dashed him against the

trees. The terrific impact killed the Asura. With his head and body crushed, the Asura crashed to the ground bringing down some palm trees too. But there were a group of ass-demons living there, the relatives and friends of Dhenukasura. They came out furiously charging towards Krishna and Balarama. But Balarama and Krishna killed everyone effortlessly. Thus the whole grove was freed from these demons. The boys ate the fruits to their heart’s content.

HEALTHY LIVING

Healthy

living is an Art 32

WWW.WISHESH.COM | MAY 2017

‘Healthy Living’, most of the time people think that it is a “cool” expression. The art of healthy living is just an Art. People never talk about healthy living in terms of it being an art form. People see it as something they are obligated to do or something they do to impress people. Some people use Healthy Living as a crutch to prove how self righteous they can be. This an old Zen expression that means to abandon all things that you think you know, so that you may learn once again. Art is not something created to be pretty, it is important that you understand this concept for it is one of the most important. Art is the path of freedom. When you are one with your art, you are free to express yourself. When you become a master of yourself you become a master of all things. The art of healthy living is something that is deeply personal and cannot be taught. It is not something “learned” nor is there any system or method to follow. There is no specific diet or exercise routine that you must follow to be an artist of healthy living. You must learn who you are in the universe and dissolve all ignorance, only then will the art of healthy living fully reveal itself to you. At the art of healthy living we present many ways to live healthy from many different points of view. Certain ways

of living healthy are useful to one and useless to another. When you practice the art of healthy living you become an artist and like any artist you have your own style of doing things. Discover what a healthy life means to you, but take nothing to be absolute. Some think that they practice the art of healthy living by following others path, but they don’t see that these people had to find their own way. Though they may have followed others for a while they eventually went down a path all their own and found what works best for them. Learn to live healthy but do not force your methods or systems upon another. Instead present what works for you, giving them a choice. The art of healthy living is based on the creativity of the individual. Individual creates the healthiest lifestyle for him/herself, instead of a healthy lifestyle that suits someone else best but is difficult for you to maintain. Don’t feel obligated to live in extremes and excesses. Don’t resort to diets and systems that are so strict and rigid that they leave you questioning the art of healthy living. Nor should you be so undisciplined as to completely deny every facet of Healthy Living. You should find your middle ground and become The artist of healthy living that you were born to be.

JYOTHI REDDY

Sincerity, Determination and Dedication,

Counts

From the fields of Warangal, where she used to earn Rs 5 per day, to becoming the CEO of Key Software Solutions in the US, it has been a long journey for D Anila Jyothi Reddy.

WWW.WISHESH.COM | MAY 2017

Here is her transformation. Jyothi was the second child among the five (2 girls and 3 boys) in a poor family. Due to her family’s financial situation, she was admitted into a welfare orphanage. To get the admission, she had to become a motherless child. Instead of getting down with the situation, Jyothi developed a strong will to make her future bright. She learned the way of dealing with life in a hard and practical manner. She attended a government school while at the orphanage and took vocational course while residing in the superintendent’s house. Jyothi used to help her superintendent with their household work. She started thinking for the ways to get into a job. Jyothi had to marry at 16 to her cousin, instead of working on to make her dreams come true. After having 2 children, the situation became even worse as she had to work in the fields for a daily wage of Rs. 5 to take care of her children. Then came an opportunity in the form of NYK (Nehru Yuva Kendra), a Central Government scheme which sought to create awareness

among the youth. She took the opportunity and became a NYK Volunteer and later started teaching. She used to stitch petticoats at night to make more money. She also learned typewriting. Apart from her bad financial situation, she had to fight with family and society to do what she wanted to do. She studied and obtained a BA from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University in 1994 and studied for a postgraduate degree from the Kakatiya University on weekends and obtained it in 1997. This made her to get a special teacher job for a salary of Rs. 398 per month. She used to travel two hours to reach her school. She utilized this time to sell sarees to her co-passengers which gave her some extra income. Her struggle for life made her become conscious about the time and it showed her the ways to utilize the time available creatively. Her job was regularized and she started making decent money. But she did not want to settle for anything, as her passion to reach a higher level always was haunting her to find the next best. God sent, a relative’s visit from the US made her to

dream about going to the land of prosperity, United States. She studied computer courses to get the eligibility to work in the US. She went to US by leaving her two daughters in a missionary hostel. It was not an easy journey for her to settle in the US. She had to work in a gas station, work as a baby sitter, load/ unload goods and work at a video shop for her survival. She joined a company called CS America as a recruiter with an aid of a close relative. Later she got another offer from a different company, but she had to go back to babysitting and gas station for survival. That was the beginning of her entrepreneurial dreams. She wanted to start her own business and was looking for the suitable line of business to start. When she visited Mexico for stamping, she realized that she could start a consulting company as she was familiar with the paperwork involved with the Visa Processing. With her savings of $40000, she opened an office in Phoenix in 2001 October. She has been successfully running her company KEYSS since then.

‘Buy American, Hire American’

Order to End H-1B ‘misuse’ US President Donald Trump has issued an executive order, curtailing the purported misuse of guest workers visa in a showy, populist, on-the-road gesture ostensibly aimed at protecting American jobs, a move that is expected to moderately affect the Indian infotech industry.

WWW.WISHESH.COM | MAY 2017

Trump and his protectionist supporters say that the original goal of the guest worker programme of bringing in highly-qualified foreign workers to do high-end jobs has been subverted by companies by bringing in entry-level workers to replace US workers and depress wages. In his first trip to the bluecollar country that has voted him because of his pledge to protect US jobs, Trump went to a tool factory at Kenosha, Wisconsin, in the ChicagoMilwaukee industrial corridor, to show that he intends to live up to his promise to staunch the loss of jobs. There he signed what was called a double-barrelled “Buy American, Hire American” executive order that will

tighten the guest worker visas such as H-1B, and require American agencies to buy more goods and services from US companies and workers. “By law, we are an equal employment, equal opportunities employer. Even when we have expats coming into the country, their average salary is benchmarked to be higher than the 50th quartile, so, on an average, they get more than the average of the population. So the assumption that they are actually underpaid is factually incorrect, because they cannot be,” TCS CEO Rajesh Gopinathan said.

“If you are not going to allow people to come in to do the jobs, then the jobs will go out where they can be done,” another Indian industry executive who asked not be named said. TCS, Wipro, Infosys among the Indian majors have embarked on the major STEM education programmes in the US, working with colleges and high schools while employing more and more US citizens, to overcome the stigma arising from charges of displacing American workers.

Job opportunities in

US increases in April

US jobs growth have staged a bigger recovery than expected in April as businesses added 211,000 posts. Figures from the US Department of Labour showed the unemployment rate has dropped slightly to 4.4%, when compared with 4.5% in March.

T

The rebound in the jobs market could pave way for the US central bank to raise the interest rates in June. The economy have to create 75,000 to 100,000 jobs every month to keep the pace with growth in the working-age population. An unemployment rate of under 5% is considered as full employment. The rate of 4.4% is the lowest since May 2007. The increase in employment was driven by the leisure and hospitality sectors, health care and social assistance, financial activities

and mining. The report showed an average hourly earnings have risen by 2.5% yearon-year, although this was down slightly when compared to March’s figure. The jobs figures have represented a strong bounce-back following the disappointing figures recorded during March, when only 79,000 jobs were created, said Kully Samra, UK managing director at Charles Schwab. “With the Fed hitting the MAY 2017 | WWW.WISHESH.COM

pause button in May, the recovery in today’s employment data gives weight to the prospect of a further rate hike in June and the possibility of two or three more this year,” he added. The rebound in the jobs market could pave the way for the Fed to raise interest rates in June. The recent GDP figures have showed the US economy has grown at an annual rate of 0.7% in the first three months of this year, slowest rate since the first quarter of 2014, raising concerns that the economy could be weakening. Earlier this week, the Federal Reserve kept its key interest rate on hold in a range of WWW.WISHESH.COM | MAY 2017

0.75% to 1%. Central bank has also said that it viewed “the slowing in growth during the first quarter as likely to be transitory” and still expected economic activity to “expand at a moderate pace”. The job report bolsters interpretation, with gains across industries - even in sectors such as retail, which has struggled earlier in the year, according to Gus Faucher, chief economist for PNC Financial Services. “That’s an indication that the economy is expanding at a steady clip in early 2017,” he said. With unemployment as low as it is, firms may have a harder time hiring and job growth could slow by the end of the year, Mr Faucher said. But, he added, “that’s not a sign of weakness in the US economy”. Andrew Walker, BBC World Service economics correspondent, analyses that it was a sharp bounce back after a very weak labour market performance in March. The average job growth for the year so far has been 185,000, essentially the same as in 2016. The April jobs figures look consistent with the idea that the slowdown in US economic growth in the first three months of the year was “transitory”, a view expressed by policy makers at the US Federal Reserve.

Anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare has questioned Kejriwal’s leadership, saying that the party have lost the credibility among the people in a short span of time. Hazare, once a colleague of Kejriwal during the Lokpal movement, said there is a vast difference between “words and action” of AAP which had led to their

(Regulation and Development)

Act, 2016, or RERA The Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, or RERA for short, will come into effect from May 1, 2017. The real estate sector in the country up until now had next to no regulation from the point of view of the buyer. Buying a house required a lot of leap of faith and prayers at the same. WWW.WISHESH.COM | MAY 2017

The RERA has the following five basic purposes: 1) To make sure that home that has been bought is delivered on time. 2) To make sure what has been promised has been delivered with respect to the actual size of the house, the facilities etc. 3) To make sure that the money taken from the buyer is used to build what has been promised and is not diverted to something else. 4) To make sure that the many permissions required to build a housing project are in place. 5) To make sure that if any changes are made to the project, they have the approval of the majority of the buyers. RERA makes it mandatory for the state governments to set up a real estate regulator. As the Act states that: “Any aggrieved person may file a complaint with the Authority [i.e., the real estate regulator of a particular state] or the adjudicating officer, as the case may be, for any violation or contravention of the provisions of this Act.”

State governments have already started diluting RERA a) While RERA is a central Act, land is a state subject. Hence, states are allowed to make the operational rules to implement RERA. An effort is being made to ensure that the ongoing projects are not brought under the ambit of RERA. This means that many buyers who are currently in trouble will not be able to benefit from this Act. b) Only three states (Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh) have set up regulators up until now. c) It is important to understand that regulators don’t start becoming effective from day one. It takes time for regulators to mature and be able to function in a proper way. d) It is important to know that the regulators don’t necessarily bat for the consumers. MAY 2017 | WWW.WISHESH.COM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has flagged off the first Rs 2,500-an-hour flight from Shimla as part of an “Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik” (UDAN) scheme that makes air travel accessible to lower middle class families. It also plans to enhance connectivity with more airports in the country. WWW.WISHESH.COM | MAY 2017

The first regional flight under UDAN scheme was flagged off between Shimla and Delhi from Jubbarhatti, the tabletop airport located 2,196 metres above sea level. “My dream was to see a person who wears a ‘hawai chappal’ to fly on the ‘hawai jahaz’ or plane,” he said in his almost 20-minute address in Hindi. “The lives of the middle class are being transformed and their aspirations are increasing. Earlier, aviation was considered to be the domain of a select few. That has changed now,” Modi said.

“If aviation connectivity in tier-II and tier-III cities is enhanced in these places, it will be beneficial. We had the opportunity to frame a civil aviation policy, which caters to the aspirations of the people of India. The UDAN scheme is going to help the tourism sector in Himachal Pradesh,” Modi said. Along with Himachal governor Acharya Devvrat, chief minister Virbhadra Singh and Union ministers P Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Jayant Sinha and JP Nadda, Modi had simultaneously flagged off the inaugural

UDAN flights on the KadapaHyderabad and NandedHyderabad sectors through video conferencing. The seating capacity of the airlines under the UDAN scheme will range from 19 to 78. Fifty percent of the seats in every flight will have a fare cap of Rs 2,500 per hour. The airline companies chosen for UDAN are Airline Allied Services (Alliance Air), SpiceJet, Turbo Megha Airways, Air Deccan and Air Odisha.

He continued his involvement with the freedom struggle with increased intensity and in 1930, led a group of likeminded revolutionaries to

He believed violent action was needed to revolutionize the independence struggle and planned to raid the armoury of police and auxiliary forces from the Chittagong armoury. He teamed up with other revolutionaries like Ganesh Ghosh, Lokenath Bal, Naresh Roy, Sasanka Datta, Ardhendu Dastidar, and others. The plan was executed on 18 April 1930. A group of revolutionaries led by Ganesh Ghosh captured the police armoury, while another group of ten men led by Lokenath Bal took the Auxiliary Forces armoury. But the revolutionaries could not locate ammunition though

they were successful in cutting telephone and telegraph wires and disrupting the movement of the trains. As 18 April 1930 was Good Friday most of the Europeans were at home. On learning of the raid, they raised an alarm and took out the troops. Meanwhile, the revolutionaries gathered outside the police armory where Surya Sen took a military salute, hoisted the National Flag, and proclaimed a Provisional Revolutionary Government. On 22 April 1930, they were surrounded by several thousand troops and a bloody gunfight followed. Over 80 troops and 12 revolutionaries were killed. Surya Sen dispersed the remaining revolutionaries to neighboring villages in small groups. Sen himself lived in hiding, frequently moving from one place to another. The movement suffered a heavy blow when an insider of the group, Netra Sen, betrayed

Surya Sen and gave away his location to the British police. The police arrested Surya Sen on 16 February 1933. Enraged, one of the revolutionaries killed Netra Sen in retaliation. After Sen was arrested, fellow revolutionary Tarakeshwar Dastidar made a plan to rescue Surya Sen from the Chittagong Jail. The police came to know about the plan and thwarted it, arresting all those involved. Surya Sen along with Tarekeshwar Dastidar was hanged by the British on 12 January 1934. He was brutally tortured before his execution.

Ashwini Mudra Stimulates Abdomen and Pelvis

56

WWW.WISHESH.COM | MAY 2017

Ashwa means “horse” in Sanskrit, and mudra is a “gesture” or “sign”. The real meaning of it lies in its definition: the practice of a rhythmic contraction of anal sphincter, which allows directing the prana (apana) flow upward the spine through the main energy channel called sushumna. In yoga ashwini mudra is a beginners technique, which means it’s relatively easy and precedes other techniques such as mula bandha or vajroli mudra. The basic technique for the mudra is pretty simple and nevertheless powerful and makes the mudra one of the essential parts of many internal yoga practices, such as mula bandha or viparita karani mudra. The very similar technique is used in Qigong to fill the internal organs with prana to make them healthier and more resistant to the external influences and damages. The practice of ashvini yoga mudra is simple, safe and very effective.

How to Do Ashwini Mudra First of all take an asana or yoga pose. The best pose for such practices is considered to be the lotus pose or padmasana. Once you got into the posture, Relax for a minute, breathing freely and deeply. Inhale fully Hold your breath and contract the anal sphincter muscles with a 1-2 seconds interval. For men there should be 4 contractions, and for women 5. These numbers designate the average quantity of anal muscles contractions required to push the prana from the pelvis to the head. Try to completely relax the anal muscles between the contractions.

Better Lifestyle Gives Better

Health and Fitness 60

A way of life or style of living that reflects the attitudes and values of a person or group can be defined as a lifestyle. Lot of people go through life using a certain lifestyle because that is what they are known from birth. Family, friends, work; media all shape the lifestyle we live. Some never get the opportunity to get exposed to anything different and develop habits that live with them throughout their life. INDIAN TRAVELOGUE

Doddaballapur Indian Manchester of Textiles

68

Doddaballapur is Taluk Head Quarters of Bangalore Rural District. It is located to the north east of Bangalore city at a distance of 40 Kms. The city is on the state Highway Bangalore – Hindupur Road.

History

From `balla’ the name Ballapura was thus derived.

Dodda means big in the native Kannada; contrasted with Chikkaballapura or the ‘little Ballapura’. The place is found mentioned as Ballalapura thanya in a record dated 1598 AD from the local Adinarayana temple. It might have originated from Hoysala name Ballala, and later corrupted as Ballapura. It is also believed that the village has derived its name from the circumstance that a cow used to drop one `balla’ of milk over a certain anthill and this omen led to the foundation of the town.

Doddaballapur was a celebrated commercial centre right from the Hoysala period. There is also a view that the town was founded by a feudatory Malbhairegowda of the Avathi clan. During the period between the 16th - 17th centuries, Dodballapur was administered by a branch of the Avathi clan. Towards 1637 - 38, the place was occupied by the Bijapur Commander Ranadaula Khan. The place was presented as a Jahgir to a Muslim chief Ali Khuli Khan. After his death, his son Darga Khuli Khan, the Nawab of Sira, received the town for a temporary period of one year as Jahgir. The compound has stucco decorations with impact of Muslim architecture. Inside the temple, over a platform is kept a stone image of Lakshminarayan in Vijayanagar style, measuring about one and a half metre in height, said to have been brought from the local Adinarayan temple.

Previously Doddaballapur was known for its handloom products but now there is not even one handloom. All the handlooms are being converted to power looms. Perhaps from the earliest times, the place is noted for silk weaving industry and many weavers also migrated to Bangalore from here. In Doddaballapur there is a place called weavers colony which is once known for its handloom products. These sarees are weaved in Cotton, silk and polyester. Due to the heavy cost incurring in handloom weaving and the non availability of weavers, once famous handlooms have shifted to power looms. Dravidians and Aryans Dravidian is the name given to a linguistically related group of people in India, who are believed to be the first original settlers of ancient India. Dravidian culture is very diverse, with some groups maintaining more traditional customs such as totemism and matralinealism, while others have developed the lifestyles of a modern technological society.

Dravidian language has remained relatively intact despite a considerable amount of contact and intermarriage with other people in the Indian subcontinent. The Dravidians make up the fourth largest linguistic group in the world. It is often presumed that Dravidians were the creators of the Indus River

Valley Civilization and were occupying all of the Indian subcontinent when the Indo-Aryans invaded from Afghanistan (ca2000 BCE). The Dravidians were probably subjected by the Indo-Aryans and are the owners of Vedic scriptures. Dravidians remained in a tribal state in central and southern India. Hinduized, but retained their languages. The Tamil language is the first of the Dravidian languages to reflect the influence of Hinduism. The Aryans are said to have entered India through the fabled Khyber pass, around 1500 BC. They intermingled with the local populace and assimilated themselves into the social framework. They adopted and settled agricultural lifestyle of their predecessors and established small agrarian communities across the state of Punjab. When the Aryans

arrived in India, they found people with an advanced civilization living there. These people, known as the Dravidians, lived in towns and grew crops. The Aryans gradually conquered the Dravidians and drove them southward. The Aryans tendered sheep, goats, cows and horses. They measured their wealth in herds of cattle. The Aryans are believed to have brought with them the horse, developed the Sanskrit language and made significant inroads in to the religion of the times. All three factors were to play a fundamental role in the shaping of Indian culture. Cavalry warfare facilitated the rapid spread of Aryan culture across North India, and allowed the emergence of large empires. Sanskrit is the basis and the unifying factor of the vast majority of Indian languages. The Aryans did not have a script, but they developed a rich tradition. They composed the hymns of the four vedas, the great philosophic poems that are at the heart of Hindu thought. A settled lifestyle brought in its wake more complex forms of government and social

patterns. This period saw the evolution of the caste system and the emergence of kingdoms and republics. The events described in the two great Indian epics, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, are thought to have occurred around this period. (1000 to 800 BC). The Aryans were divided into tribes which had settled in different regions of northwestern India. Tribal chiefmanship gradually became hereditary, though the chief usually operated with the help of advice from either a committee or the entire tribe. With work specialisation, the internal division of the Aryan society developed along caste lines. Their social framework was composed mainly of the following groups : the Brahmana (priests), Kshatriya (warriors), Vaishya (agriculturists) and Shudra (workers). It was, in the beginning, a division of occupations; as such it was open and flexible. Much later, caste status and the corresponding occupation came to depend on birth and change from one caste or occupation to another became far more difficult.

WWW.WISHESH.COM | MAY 2017

Akula 310 will be Apache RTR 300 in India. TVS Akula 310 has been rechristened as Apache RR 310S. The new Apache RR 310S is based on the upcoming BMW G310R. BMW Motorrad will launch the Made in India G310R this fiscal year. TVS will launch the new Apache RR 310S most likely in July this year.

Design: The Apache RR 310S takes styling cues from the marine predator, visible in the heat management ‘gills’ and the dorsal ‘fin’ used in the under-tail section. Countless hours are spent in wind-tunnel testing and has resulted in the Akula’s fluid shape. The bodywork is completely made up of carbon-fibre and is supported by a stiff aluminium trellis frame. TVS had said that the backbone architecture has been borrowed from the upcoming BMW G310R, which was co-developed with TVS. Cycle parts also include tracktuned USD front fork, cast-alloy swing-arm mounting the rear mono-shock, radial calipers and steering damper.

Features: One of the most interesting features of the Apache RR 310S has to be the front and rear-mounted gyro cameras. These can make for some stellar on-board videos, catching the action up close and also helping riders to catch mistakes and get valuable feedback in improving lap times. The Apache RR 310S not only pays tribute to TVS’ rich racing heritage but also gives a glimpse into the future models, especially their version of the G 310 R.

Vastu for Internal

Arrangements

Vastu for internal arrangements is very much essential to sustain peace, prosperity and happiness in the family and relationships. Internal arrangement does not mean arranging the things but keeping everything at its proper position according to the Vastu.

Vastu for internal arrangement involves designing and placing things at the proper place, so that living place becomes peaceful and Vastu complaint.

Vastu tips for internal arrangements are:

While deciding for the Vastu for internal arrangement, it has to be noted that all the items you bring and place should be according to the Vastu in order to balance the energies. Correct placement of things can help balancing energies and render a peaceful and prosperous house.

TV and other electronic items should be positioned in Eastern or Northern wall, so that whenever people sit for watching TV, they will face North or East.

Heavy furnishings and other material should be located in the Southern or Western part of house. Storage or console should always be located in the South or West wall. Avoid North and Eastern walls for any kind of storage.

Always place dinning table in East or North, so that while you eat, face East or North. Crystal items must be kept in North or East and avoid South or West. Heavy artifacts or other decorating items must be designed on Southern or Western walls. MAY 2017 | WWW.WISHESH.COM

anuvartate—follow in the footsteps. Verse meaning Whatever action is performed by a great man, common men follow in his footsteps. And whatever standards he sets by exemplary acts, all the world pursues.

Explanation The great personalities set the example for the common man to follow in the manner in which they speak and in the way in which they act. So understanding that the whole Earth benefits from the performance of prescribed Vedic activities, one should act altruistically not for themselves but for the welfare of the world. Great personalities should always act in an exemplary manner to set the standard for the world. In this way they inspire everyone to perform prescribed Vedic actions according to the qualification of one’s varna in life and one’s asrama or stage in life. If one fails to do this by neglect or omission one commits sin by omitting to help benefit the welfare of the world by their example and the consequence will be that one will fall down from the path they achieved after many lifetimes.

Lord Caitanya said that a teacher should behave properly even before he begins teaching. One who teaches in that way is called acarya, or the ideal teacher. A teacher must follow the principles of sastra (scripture) to reach the common man. The teacher cannot manufacture rules against the principles of revealed scriptures. The leader’s teaching should be based on the principles of the standard rules as they are practiced by the great teachers. The SrimadBhagavatam affirms that one

should follow the footsteps of great devotees and that is the way of progress on the path of spiritual realization. The king or the executive head of a state, the father and the school teacher are all considered to be the natural leaders of the innocent people in general. All such natural leaders have a great responsibility to their dependants. Therefore they must be conversant with standard books of moral and spiritual codes.

Poila Boishakh

Bengali New Year day

Poila Boishakh is the first day of the Bengali calendar. It is celebrated on 14 or 15 April. This holiday is celebrated in Bangladesh and the Indian state of West Bengal. It is also celebrated in Bengali communities in the other Indian states like Assam, Tripura, Jharkhand and Orissa and all over India as well wherever the Bengali community is. It is the same day as the New Year’s Days of many calendars like Vishu, Puthandu, Vaisakhi, Bihu, etc. WWW.WISHESH.COM | MAY 2017

Mesha Sankranti is celebrated as Naba Barsha or Poila Boishakh in West Bengal. Poila Boishakh is also known as Bengali New Year. Bengali New Year is celebrated in West Bengal and among Bengali communities in Assam and Tripura. In Assam, Poila Boishakh is celebrated as Bihu and also known as Assamese New Year. Boishakhi fairs are held in many parts of the country. Various agricultural products, traditional handicrafts, toys, cosmetics, as well as various kinds of food and sweets are sold at these fairs. The fairs also provide entertainment, with singers and dancers. They present folk songs. Among other attractions of these fairs are puppet shows and merry-gorounds.

History of Poila Boishakh King Shoshangko of ancient Bengal is credited with starting the Bengali era. The starting point of the Bengali era is estimated to be in 594 in the Gregorian calendar. Hence Bengali year is 594 less than the Gregorian calendar if it is before Poila Boishakh or 593 less if it is after Poila Boishakh.

Celebration of Poila Boishakh Like the new year day in the rest of India, Bengali families clean their house and decorate them with alpana (rangoli). In the center of the alpana color pattern, they place a earthen pot, filled with water, capped with mango leaves and marked with

auspicious Hindu red and white swastika sign. Many people visit the nearby river to say their prayers and take a ritual bath. Wearing new clothes are also part of the festival.

Begum Jaan Analysis : Begum Jaan makes no impact despite of the power-packed performance by Vidya Balan and team. The cluttered plot runs out because of the poor narration that makes the film a huge disappointment. 104

Story : Begum Jaan (Vidya Balan) owns a brothel house and she stays with her girls in a huge Kotha leading a careless life. It is after Independence, the proposal of partition between India and Pakistan that starts troubling Begum Jaan. She receives notices from the government to vacate the Kotha and she seeks the help of local king (Naseeruddin Shah) after she refuses to vacate. After she refuses to bend under pressure, INC leader Hariprasad (Ashish Vidyarthi) and Muslim league leader, Illyas (Rajit Kapoor) find violent ways to threaten her to leave. Watch Begum Jaan to know what happens next. WWW.WISHESH.COM | MAY 2017

Right from the first frame, Begum Jaan misses the clarity throughout. The film has some realistic and stunning episodes that surprise the audience and it is Vidya Balan who tries hard to save the film but could not. The first half has some engaging episodes which make the film passable. The performances by the lead cast sure makes lot of difference. On the whole the first half of Begum Jaan is slightly decent but not up to the mark. The second half which is quite crucial for such films fails miserably in all the available ways. The film has some interesting plot but it is the screenplay and the narration which makes Begum Jaan fall flat. Vidya Balan’s stupendous and fearless performance has been utterly wasted throughout. The pre-climax episodes kill the film completely and a decent climax makes no difference. On the whole the second half of Begum Jaan is a huge failure in all the available ways.

Final Word: Begum Jaan makes no impact despite of the power-packed performance by Vidya Balan and team. The cluttered plot runs out because of the poor narration that makes the film a huge disappointment.

Noor Analysis :

Noor is a film that lacks interesting narration and is a huge disappointment. Sonakshi Sinha shines in the assigned role and Noor has been good at parts.

Story : Noor is the story of Noor Roy Chaudary (Sonakshi Sinha) who works for a news agency headed by Sekhar Das (Manish Choudary). Noor wants to get some sensational news on board; she has been forced to cover some uninteresting local news. She has two best friends, Zara Patel (Shibani Dandekar), a DJ and Saad ( Kannan Gill). Malti (Smita Tambe) unknowingly divulges some shocking details to Noor after which she starts an enquiry about her brother’s health. This is during this time, Noor finds a big story. The rest of the movie is all about what happens next.

The first half of Noor offers nothing and it takes much time to reveal the major plot. The first half an hour is utterly wasted and it offers nothing. The entertainment at parts is a huge relief for the audience and the major plot has many loop holes that make the audience feel a huge let down. With some interesting episodes, the first half of Noor offers nothing and is a disappointment. With not many commercial elements, Noor is completely foolish. The second half of Noor travels interesting for sometime however the film dips down badly at the much needed time. Some of the logics look baseless and most of the episodes look faked. Sonakshi’s character has not been written well and the climax of Noor has interesting aspects. With an interesting plot, the director fails to make an engaging film. Noor is sure a massive disappointment in all the available ways.

The first half of Mister is all about framing the important characters of the film. The entertainment throughout the film has been decent and impressive. Though the plot looks deviated, the director manages to comeback soon. The songs look decent and they have been placed, shot well. The interval episodes look interesting and on the whole the first half of Mister is sure a decent watch if keep back your expectations. The interesting twists throughout keep the audience engaging. The second half of Mister lacks interesting episodes. The entertainment dips down completely and the unwanted episodes deviates the major plot. The 20 minute long hospital episode will sure leave the audience irritated and is the major letdown for the film. The pre-climax episodes have been dragged too much and it is the climax that makes the film interesting and emotional. On the whole the second half of Mister is a huge downfall.

Sitting with patience with family issues can bring true release by late June. Keep those personal goals as dreams. The moment will come when you can forge ahead – you know, like you always do.

TAURUS 116

Happy Birthday to the zodiac’s most steadfast sign! This is indeed your birthday month and this means that not only do you celebrate a special day but a special month all month long. The planetary positions now bring promises for the year ahead. Awareness is your key word for this upcoming year. People and circumstances enter your life now that open you up to new experiences in relating.

GEMINI Is it your money, my money or our money? That question is spinning in your gray matter. Because dollars are often used as a mental stimulus for you, that question bears no threat. Rather it promises a new way of looking at resources and how to use them. Try something different this month with money. Close your eyes and try to ‘feel’ for your answers.

CANCER It may seem that life resembles a boulder blocking the mouth of a cave. That would be a cave that is holding you prisoner. This is a good time to do an assessment of the past months. Check off the events. What wisdom have you gained during this time? What are the new responsibilities that you have gained mastery over? Yes, life may continue to be heavy like a boulder but remind yourself often that you are in this world but not of it.

LEO There is uniqueness in friendships this month. Reconnect with old friends and be open to the cultivation of new friendships. Don’t pick and choose. Rather stay open and let others pick and choose you. You may pull in some questionable characters. But they come as teachers even though they aren’t aware of their role. Additionally, open up to group activities. You may find yourself acting as a leader. Use the golden rule now.

VIRGO Ask any artist how to paint and they will tell you first to back away from the canvas and second to find your perspective point. Your perspective point is now found in backing away from the every day grind and having good old down home philosophical discussions with many people. Be sure to choose to talk with some experts. You can’t learn too much now, see too much or travel too far. Your mind is like a central switchboard until June. You are on a quest for truth. What you find are the colors and hues that fill your life canvas. Nice.

LIBRA After the 18th of May, you will have a chance to journey backwards. At first, it may seem like your drive has become like milk-toast. It is, however, the reverse. You indeed will have entered a sort of Alice-in-Wonderland kind of experience. And like Alice, you may go it alone. There will be questions. Should I take the blue pill or the red pill? Should I follow the white rabbit or stand in place? By late June, you will simply come.

SCORPIO If no one was watching and you knew that you would not be judged, would you let your hair down and play? Why not dedicate this month to doing just that – playing? The energies are right for the experience and you will find playmates. They may come as new friends, confidants or a new lover. Reach out for the experience and regain that youthful glow.

SAGITTARIUS It may not be clear at the moment but your actions are setting you up for career success. Keep your network connections active even though they may look like they are dragging. Wherever you encounter challenges, know that they will turn toward fortune in some basic way. Be sure to contact authority figures after the 10th of May. The more contacts that are made the greater the pay-off. Your partners bring in rewards and gifts to you now.

CAPRICORN Seek out a guru this month. You will recognize them as he or she will have considerable dignity and psychological strength. They will have a clear understanding of responsibility that mirrors your own. You will find a level of friendship here that calls out to the inner child in you. In turn this connection will allow you to play the guru role for someone younger or less experienced than yourself.

AQUARIUS The river of life continues to move in uncertain rhythms and tides. Along with those uncertainties lie frustrations and puzzlement, perhaps to the point of tears. How unlike you, Dear Aquarius. There must be some divine message in these experiences. If you would give yourself permission to be sensitive, soft, transparent, clairvoyant, slightly confused, emotionally vulnerable.

PISCES Can you hum that tune, ‘On a Clear Day You Can See Forever’? This is the tune you should hum all month. The image for you during May is a ride in a hot air balloon over a calm sea of water. Don’t do any complaining, moaning or groaning. Instead count your blessings, for indeed you are in planetary graces. And those graces set you free. They allow you to be extraordinarily creative and vastly intuitive. So be honest. MAY 2017 | WWW.WISHESH.COM
