Chanderi Handlooms 12
A beautiful blend of Cotton, Silk thread and Zari A Chanderi fabric is well-known by the name of Chanderi town in Madhya Pradesh. The traditional methods of hand weaving have been developed over centuries and passed down through generations. Chanderi is a weaver’s town, located near the river Betwa in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh. About 60% population of Chanderi are involved in the manufacturing of Chanderi handlooms.

Chanderi, is the best handloom cluster, which occupies a special place because of its centuries old weaving specialty. It produces finely textured fabrics of cotton and silk decorated with zari woven work. It produces three kinds of fabrics namely Silk Cotton, Pure Silk and, Chanderi Cotton. The patterns have come a long way from the traditional coins, floral, peacocks and to the geometrics. This Saree is a product; woven by hand, sprinkled with the delicacy of the extra thread designs that has archaic refined tastes of the royalty. According to mythology or the vedic period it was said that chanderi was founded by lord krishana’s cousin Shisupal. The development of this fabric began in the 1890’s when weavers in the town of Chanderi replaced hand spun yarns with mill mad yarns. In the year 1910, Chanderi sarees were supported by the royal family of Scindia. It was during that stage when golden thread motif made its presence in the cotton muslin saree for the first time. In Mughal supremacy, fame of this fabric reached to new level and it was one of the most favored choices of queens in India. Chanderi weavers in Madhya Pradesh discovered Japanese silk in 1930’s. They began to replace the twists of cotton sarees with Chanderis and that’s how this variety of silk came into existence. The effort to revitalize a
marginalized weave is finally coming full circle thanks to the efforts of the Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF), a notfor-profit. Its Chanderiyaan project in Madhya Pradesh, run for the benefit of about 3,500 families of Chanderi weavers, saw the launch of Chanderiyaan.net, an e-commerce website. Through this, weavers can bypass middlemen and sell their products directly online. At the moment the site only sells saris, stoles and dupattas, but plans are afoot to introduce salwar-kameez, home furnishings such as curtains and cushion covers, accessories like photo frames and wall hangings, and a
section for men’s garments. This initiative is funded by the Union ministry of communications and information technology till 2011 and now on its way to becoming a self-sustaining entity, imparted basic Englishlanguage classes, taught a few weaver-designers computers skills for design purposes, made the area Wi-Fi enabled and introduced the community to social networking media. Today, Chanderi stands out as excellence in every sense, as it is blessed with a mix of modern and traditional techniques, and deft skills of weavers are honored by institutional supports. Type of food Gujjars take
The Hindus in Gujjar mostly eat vegetarian that consists of the cereals like wheat, seasonal fruit, rice, gram, pulses, vegetables, maize, oilseeds along with the milk and milk products. Whereas in Chandigarh and Madhya Pradesh, they even have take the non-vegetarian. Coming to the Muslim Gujjars, they eat non-vegetarian and the people of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand even eat beef (However the government put a ban on beef now).

Gujjar marriages
18
The Gujjars maintain their community as endogamous, but even compromises to the exogamy, that too within the close group of families and the village levels. Depending on the regions they live in, they have a number of sub-groups. The surnames and clan are often the same. Gujjars follow monogamy and fraternal polyandry was predominant until recently among Punjab Gujjar. Adult marriages are slowly replacing the child marriages and are arranged by the negotiation. But in the states like Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, the child marriages, are still continuing among the Gujjar. Marriage by exchange is also practiced by some Gujjar of Punjab, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. In the latter two WWW.WISHESH.COM | NOVEMBER 2015
states, marriage by elopement has social sanction. Madhya Pradesh Gujjars conduct the mass marriages. Gujjar women put on the glass bangles, Sindur (vermilion mark), Bindi, finger and nose rings during the marriages. Dowry is given in both cash and also kind. Divorce is very rare in Gujjar, though permitted in cases of adultery. Junior and senior levirate and junior sororate are practiced among Gujjar. Except in Rajasthan, widow, widower and divorcee re-marriages are allowed. Subdivisions among Gujjars Jammu & Kashmir’s Muslim Gujjar have two occupational sections. The Zamindars are settled landholders and the Dodhi are pastoral nomads. These sections are further subdivided into clans. Himachal Pradesh’s Muslim
Gujjar also has two sub-group divisions called, ‘Bhatariye’ and ‘Bhanariye’. These people are generally believed to be Hindus originally, but got converted into the Muslim community.
Inheritance among the Gujjar Among the Gujjar, the extended families are more the norm and each son gets the equal share of the parental property. Daughters possess no such inheritance rights on the property. However, as per the Islamic law, Muslim Gujjar women are granted the inheritance rights. Unlike the origination meaning of the Gujjar, it is fortunate that, Gujjar is getting updated and competing with the present world.

Kamadhenu said to Krishna: “Lord Krishna, we are very fortunate. Because, you were born in a cowherd family. You are protecting all the cows. All the cows are my children. So, you are lord of lords to all of us. Lord Bhama told us to perform ceremonial bath of crowning to you (abhishek) as our Indra.” Krishna smiled looking at Kamadhenu affectionately. Indra who was seeing all this with joy asked his elephant, Iravata, to get water from the holy river Ganga. Iravata went immediately. It carried a golden vessel with the trunk and brought water from the holy Ganga river. Indra took the vessel and bathed Krishna with the water of river Ganges. Indra said to Krishna: “Lord Krishna, from today you will be known as ‘Govinda’. Govinda means the ‘Indra of cows’. And you are Govinda as you protect the cows as well as the whole world.” The lord of devas, Indra said to Krishna: “I am only the Indra of Devas. Hey Krishna,
you are the Indra of all living beings in the world.” All the cows then celebrated the happiness and Indra left back to Devaloka with Kamadhenu. From then Lord Krishna is being called as ‘Govinda’. Even though Lord Krishna has thousands of names, he will be very happy to hear being called as ‘Govinda’.

Now, add the water slowly, along with green chilies, tomato, spinach, and bell pepper and mix up well. 3. Then, put he skillet on a medium heat. Check the intensity of the heat, by sprinkling water on it. If the water sizzles right away, it is in the correct heat. 4. Pour approximately ½ cup of the batter mixture into the skillet and spread it evenly. Just like the process you do while spreading the egg mixture for cooking omelet). 5. When you observe that, the batter is getting dried, spread about two teaspoons of oil over it. Wait for a few seconds and then, flip the omelet onto the other side. 6. To make the omelet cook evenly, press it lightly all around. Turn the omelet, for about four times, to make sure that, it is cooked evenly on both the sides. Your mouth watering Eggless omelet is ready. The combination of mint chutney with Eggless omelet, will make you forget about the count of the omelets you ate. So make sure, you cook the mint chutney on the beforehand. (Need not be exactly, but you can even opt your likely vegetables and prepare the omelet accordingly.)

H The Indian Information Technology (IT) industry is breathing a sigh of relief with the US administration allowing the law striking a $2,000 tax on H-1B visa’s to lapse. Passed on August 2010, the law raised L-1 visa and H-1B fee per application by $2,250 and $2,000, respectively which mainly targeted Indian IT companies. Companies with 50 or more than 50 employees in the US and if more than 50% of the employees were nonimmigrant employees on these visas. The duration of law was extended from four years to five years under James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010 to provide financial and healthcare compensation for the fire-fighters and other first responders who helped out in the after effects of the 9/11 attack. India’s main software trade body, the National Association of Software and Services
Companies (Nasscom), welcomed the US move to allow the bill to be lapsed. “We have been raising this issue at all levels with the US government. This rule was targeted at India and India-centric companies, and it is discriminatory,” said Shivendra Singh, vicepresident at Nasscom. The industry could save as much as $80 million a year if this fee is revoked, he added. Also, he warned that this bill could reappear in some form or the other during the course of this year. “The bill just lapsed. There was no action taken by the Congress to revoke the fees,” he said. In a report released last month, Nasscom said the Indian tech industry contributed an estimated $375 million during this period to the US Treasury, including helping America secure its borders. In a recent interview,
“It had nothing to do with the IT industry. It was applied in an inequitable way, which specifically targeted Indian companies,” Nasscom president R. Chandrashekhar described the fee as unjustified. “It had nothing to do with the IT industry. It was applied in an inequitable way, which specifically targeted Indian companies,” he said, adding that he would welcome any move to eliminate the fee. The government can still come up with a legislation to reinstall the biased H-1B fee, which lapsed on 1 October night. However, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers -USA in a report condemned the US government for the lapse of the H-1B fee. NOVEMBER 2015 | WWW.WISHESH.COM

So a lot of action is happening in case of information which is already received by us,” he said. Adhia further said that once the multilateral arrangement on Common Reporting Standards (CRS) comes
into effect from 2017, “we will really get a big shot in our pursuit of finding out black money, which is lying abroad. Some countries have already agreed to be the early adopters of this (CRS). India is one of the early adopters. So we are actually making a lot of requests for information to other countries, where specific instances of tax evasion or tax avoidance are found. And we are working on assessing them, putting penalty, prosecution, whatever is required on them,” he said.

Though the festival is celebrated by everyone, different states see different rituals and traditions. In North India, the highlight of Dusshera is the Ramlila, while in South India, the triumph of Goddess Durga over Mahishasura is celebrated with great prominence. While Northern and Southern parts of India celebrate it their way, Eastern India goes with the concept of Visargan of the idol Durga. Here are some of the celebrations and story behind why Dussehra as a festival is celebrated in a grand manner, especially in India!
History Navaratri as a festival started to demolish the evil and wanton nature and having a good and successful life that contribute to the wellness of human beings. The nine days are categorized into 3 different parts, Tamas, Rajas and Sattva. The first three days of this festival are dedicated to the goddess who are fierce in nature like Durga and Kali. The next three days are dedicated to the goddess who are very calm and serene in nature but who concentrate on materialistic nature. Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped in these three days. On the last three days of Sattva, goddess Saraswati is worshipped because of the third quality that a human
should posses – Knowledge and enlightenment. Investing in these three things and worshipping these three goddesses, will give you the much needed materialistic and mind power. After the nine days, the tenth day is called as Vijayadasami which is a day where you have conquered almost everything that Rajas, Tamas and Sattav provides you. The tenth day is celebrated for the victory that you have acquired by achieving the powers. This brings home the message of how being in reverence and gratitude towards everything that matters in our lives leads to success and victory.
Celebration The festival is all about color, dance and entertainment. Everybody meet and greet one another and exchange sweets with each other. The Vijayadashami or Dussehra festival is of a tremendous cultural significance for all who live in this land – irrespective of their caste, creed or religion – and is celebrated with gaiety and love.

In Tamil Nadu, the nine days preceding Dussehra have been equally divided for worshipping the three Goddesses namely Lakshmi (the first three days are dedicated to the Goddess of wealth and prosperity), Saraswati (the next three days are dedicated to the Goddess of learning and arts) and Durga (the last three days are dedicated to the Mother Goddess, Shakti). The women folks of all three states of Tamil, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh arrange small idols in their homes. This tradition is called as ‘Bommai Golu’, where the artistic depiction of lords is arranged in steps. The entire tradition is a depiction of the stories of different lords like Krishna’s , Rama’s success during the war. The young members of the family dress up and invite WWW.WISHESH.COM | NOVEMBER 2015
guests and sing songs and perform different kinds of art forms of their own houses itself. The steps in which the dolls are kept are decorated with beautiful lamps and flowers.
Foods There are many food items that are made on the nine days of the festival. There is a palate of things that is offered to god like Puliyodharai Saadham(Tamarind rice), Coconut Rice(Thengai Saadham), Thayir Semia(Vermicelli in Yogurt), Nava Dhaanya(Nine beans for 9 nights!) Once this is offered to the almighty, we are free to taste the dishes done. Since it is a grand festival, at least 2-3 sweets are available on each day to mark the importance and sanctity. This surely is one of the festival that gives maximum importance to the rich Indian culture and tradition. Shalabhasana The Locust Pose 68
The Locust Yoga is one kind of asana, where both the body and legs resemble like a Locust. It is one of the best yogasana where your muscles get strengthened easily. WWW.WISHESH.COM | NOVEMBER 2015
People who have severe back pain should make sure to practice this yogasana very carefully and should be slow when they do it. Before you jump into Shalabhasana, make sure you warm up your body with Makarasana and Jyestikasana. You can take in slowly since it could be difficult to start doing it fully. Try the half Locust pose and then move on to doing the full Locust.
Warning – Pregnant women
and people who have had recent abdominal surgery should avoid practicing this yogasana. In the below article, two kinds of asanas is explained. One is half locust pose and the next one is full locust pose.
Steps to perform Half Locust Pose First, lie down and make sure
your stomach touches the ground. Keep your hands on your side. While you lie down, make sure your chin and stomach touch the ground. Now, slowly make sure that you bring your hands under your legs and support your legs. Slowly inhale deeply and lift your right leg upwards in the air without bending your leg. Try to do it as much as you can without straining. Try to do it for about half a minute and maintain the same position. After half a minute, slowly release the position and bring your leg back down on the ground. When you do that, exhale and bring it down. You can now rest for sometime. Breathe normally and make sure you get ready for the next leg.
Similar to the previous one, try doing the same thing to your left leg. This process can be followed for a few times, alternatively between your right and left leg.
Shalabhasana or the Full-Locust Pose The full locust pose is very much similar to the half locust pose. Just that you should try and lift both the legs together in the full locust pose. Instead of alternating between left and right, you have to lift both together by keeping your hand for support. Maintain the position for about a minute or so, would help you gain the strength in the muscles of your legs. But, don’t strain too much if you are doing it for the first few times.

Relationship

Physical and mental space is very important in a relationship. But most girls actually mistake it to wanting a breakup. Girls freak out, presume a lot on this and conclude things which are not even close to what the guy actually said. Sometimes, needing space could be very genuine and innocent. Maybe they really want some physical distance from you because of various reasons. You may have spent a lot of time together, hanging around each other and now he wants a small break from the routine. As much as you love your boyfriend’s company and him per se, you need to give him the feel that he can be on his own too. Men tend to feel insecure in a relationship very easily and it could be a natural process for them to want to feel left alone. This doesn’t mean they want to end the relationship. Here are some relationship tips you need to follow when your boyfriend is asking for space. Top things to do when boyfriend asks for space
Do not freak out The first thing every girl does is, freak out! Do not tense up yourself the minute he says he wants space from you or doesn’t want to talk for a while. It is totally fine and freaking out is not an option. Yes, this statement has a WWW.WISHESH.COM | NOVEMBER 2015
very negative energy towards your relationship. Accepted! But, that doesn’t necessarily mean that he wants to break up with you. Before you turn on your panic mode, try to figure out what went wrong and analyze how things ended up here. Panicking or freaking out will only make you take bad decisions and would affect your perfect relationship.
Question the situation Before you ask him anything, try to question yourself. Have you guys been spending way too much time with each other? Do you meet every day in order to see each other? Have you stopped going out with your other friends just to be by yourselves? If your answer to any of the above is yes, then space is not a bad idea at all. Let’s face it, even you are bored of the same company but aren’t open about it because girls don’t tend to get bored easily. But guys do! And so, it comes out of their mouths first that they need space. If your answer to the above questions is a no, then that is a whole different issue. As long as you are in the former situation, you are safe for a space time.
Have ‘The talk’ Talk to your boyfriend about what he requires and what he means by needing space. The only way you will know
anything further in the relationship is when you talk to the person. Otherwise, you are left with confusions and are not concrete on what to decide. Ask him questions like ‘if he wants to hang out less’? Stop talking for a while? Does he want to go on a break? You need to be true to your emotions and ask him whatever you feel like. Unless you get clarity, it isn’t right to let go of it.
Figure out and ask yourself The relationship is not just about your boyfriend. It is much about you too, so start looking for questions that involve you as well. You can definitely alter the small things in your relationship like talking less everyday on the phone, meeting twice a week only or hanging out more with his guy friends etc. But, you need to ask yourself a series of questions on what you want to do in life too. If you feel your boyfriend is taking space for a relationship that is already filled only with space, then his intentions are not on taking space. It’s on breaking up with you. This is how you find the difference between genuine space and wanting to break up.
Give him what he asked Give him an actual emotional
and physical space. If you have agreed to go ahead with giving your boyfriend what he wants, then just face it and go ahead. Make plans that don’t involve him. Hang out with your friends and don’t call him as much as you used to. It may get annoying for the guy if you give him space for 2 days and then go back showering him with love and cuddles. He wouldn’t want that. Unless he comes back, don’t try to disturb him. He sure will get back to you when he misses you. Until then, be patient.
Focus on yourself This is the time you take for yourself. Take time and focus on what you always wanted to do. Hang out with your friends, meet your family, go on an all girls trip and forget you have a boyfriend
for some days. Put a positive spin on your life. You can do whatever you want to swimming, dancing, taking up classes, going on a diet or whatever interests you. It is good to be away from the boyfriend thoughts for a while because you owe yourself a ‘ýou’ time.
Patience is virtue It could be one of the toughest times for you. Agreed! But, being patient could make your relationship even better once he gets back to you. If you think your relationship is worth it, then waiting is the right choice. Instead of indulging into a waiting phase, pan your time and keep yourself busy. Let him do his work and you do yours.
Finally, trust your gut
Trusting yourself would be the final thing you do to get a hold on your relationship. If you think taking and giving space is the right decision, great! But, if you are finding something empty and not able to comprehend if the decision is right or wrong, then you’ve got to get out and talk about your situation. Every relationship works differently and all these above tips are very objective. Some couples don’t even need the space mentioned and some couples need extra work on their relationship. Work things out according to your pace and finally do not freak out about anything. If it is worth it, it will stay. Otherwise, you have a better someone out there. beyond the words
Explaining romance in words will be adventurous. But, yet, it can be defined as the feelings, sentiments, security, mutual understanding, made for each other, etc., which can give a feeling of togetherness. Its not only human beings, who romance, but all the living beings too. Romance does not happen just because of the attractiveness of the other, instead the environment also plays a greater role in it. Brief history of Gangotri
Centuries ago, to dissolve the sins of King Bhagirath’s forefathers, following his penance, Goddess Ganga transformed herself into a river. Lord Shiva gathered Ganga into his matted locks, in order to reduce the impact of the fall. It was since then, Goddess Ganga is associated with Lord Shiva. Coming to Gangotri temple, in the early 18th century, it was built by a Gorkha Commander. This temple stands at an altitude of 3042m and emits a highly pious aura. Religious rituals are in full swing in the Gangotri temple with the Arti ceremony performed by the pujaris of the Semwal family. The Ganga river originates from the glacier of Ganga and is known as Bhagirathi. As the river passes Devaprayag and merges into Alakananda river, it is named as Ganga later.

As the altitude is 3042m, one feels that they are very close to god, while in Gangotri. Delicious vegan food is available in the local food joints or dhabas. Best Season / Best time to visit
The best time to visit the holy city of Gangotri is from April to June and September to November. Winter (November to March) would be very cold with heavy snowfall. It can disrupt your journey. Summer (April to May) is the best time to visit Gangotri, as the temperature is never observed crossing 30°C and can get very cold at nights. For pilgrimage and sightseeing trips, this is the best time to opt. Monsoon (late July - August) is accompanied by very heavy rainfall that makes it difficult to reach the temple. So it is November now, which is the best time to visit Gangotri. Rush immediately and enjoy the whole month in a scenic environment. NOVEMBER 2015 | WWW.WISHESH.COM

In 322 BCE, the Empire was founded by Chandragupta Mourya, who had overthrown the Nanda Dynasty and expanded his power westwards across central and western India, with Chanakya’s help, taking advantage of the disruptions of the local powers in the wake of the withdrawal westward by Alexander’s armies. By 316 BCE the Maurya empire had fully occupied Northwestern India, defeating and conquering the satraps, left by Alexander. The Maurya Empire is the largest one in the Indian subcontinent and also one of the largest empires of the world in its time. The empire is extended to the north, along the natural boundaries WWW.WISHESH.COM | NOVEMBER 2015
In 322 BCE, the Empire was founded by Chandragupta Mourya, who had overthrown the Nanda Dynasty and expanded his power westwards across central and western India, of the Himalayas, to the east into Assam, to the west into Balochistan (south west Pakistan and southeast Iran) and the Hindu Kush mountains, what we call now as Afghanistan. It was further expanded into India’s central and southern regions by the Chandragupta and Bindusara emperors, but it excluded a small portion of unexplored tribal and forested regions near Kalinga, which is now called as Odisha. Later it was conquered by Ashoka. It declined for about 50 years after Ashoka’s rule
ended, and it dissolved in 185 BCE with the foundation of the Shunga dynasty in kingdom Magadha. The Maurya Empire was founded by Chandragupta Maurya, with help from Chanakya, a Brahmin teacher at Takshasila. According to several legends, Chanakya traveled to Magadha kingdom. The Magadha kingdom was insulted by its king Dhana Nanda, of the Nanda. Chanakya decides to destroy the Nanda empire. But the conquering armies of Alexander, refused to cross the Beas river and advance further eastward, deterred by the prospect of battling Magadha. Alexander died in Babylon in 323 BCE, his empire was then fragmented, and local kings declared their independence, leaving several smaller disunited satraps. Chandragupta Maurya came into the power, amidst of huge controversies. A number of ancient Indian accounts, such as the Mudrarakshasa drama by Visakhadatta, describe Maurya’s royal ancestry and even link him with Nanda’s

family. Without any proper historical evidence, it is hard to make any conclusions. In Greek, Chandragupta first emerges as “Sandrokottos”. As a young man he is said to have met Alexander. He is also said to have met the Nanda king, angered him, and made a narrow escape. The history says that, under Maurya’s reign, Buddhism spreads to Burma, Egypt, Syria, Macedonia, Central Asia. For propagation of Buddhism, he started inscribing edicts on pillars and rocks, in the public places. These pillars and rocks can still be found in many parts of the country. Those are spreading the love and peace messages for the last two thousand years. To his ideas he gave the name Dharma. In 232 BC, Ashoka left his breath. The Ashoka pillar capital at Sarnath, is adopted by India, as its national emblem. The “Dharma Chakra” on the Ashoka Pillar, adorns our National Flag.

which will be launched on October 26. This hatchback from Maruti Suzuki has caught everyone’s attention ever since its influx was announced. It is supported by Suzuki’s new-generation platform, and also looks similar to the iK-2 concept. Baleno will be sold exclusively through the premium dealership range Nexa. Since Maruti Baleno is a first premium hatchback in India, its cabin is moderately superior, to the Swift. In India, it will be offered with 2 engine options, namely, a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.3-litre diesel. Nevertheless, the petrol motor has a powerful variation of the same 1.2-litre K-Series unit, which was found under the Swift’s hood. Exterior The best part of this car is that, the standard Suzuki façade remains the same but they use multiple modern design touches like sweptback headlights with daytime running lights, y shaped grille. is very similar to premium hatchbacks. The roof line ends at a steeply raked C pillar and that is the way it is characterized. The car has a flat stance with a muscular wheel arches that are strong enough to hold the weight. The rear end has a impressive looking circular taillight assembled perfectly. Interior
The exterior may have a different look, but the interior borrows parts from the Suzuki brand’s parts bin making it look exactly similar. There is the familiar layout of the dashboard and so are the same features for the top desk of the car. The good thing is that, it will have a new instrument panel, which is pretty cool looking with a blue backlighting and a higher model display between the gauges. There is a captive touch screen on the feature front, 2 DIN music system and airbags to support. Suzuki may even offer rear AC vents for improved comfort levels at the rear.In India, Maruti will probably use the Swift’s naturally aspirated, 1.2-litre K-Series, alongside the 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel engine in 90bhp form.

Next thing is, as you enter your bed room, you should first see something that gives serenity and peace. It could be your favorite piece of photograph, a nice quote, a sculpture, a painting or even flowers. These will bring in positive vibes into your life.

Place plants in front of them to soften and try to move your bed away from the direct alignment. Slanted ceilings or exposed beams are oppression symbols. They create a cutting effect and create a lot of energy, due to which you cannot get peaceful rest. A remedy for lifting the effect energetically is by hanging bells from slanted ceilings or beams.
Remove clutter in your bedroom as it could destroy serenity. Clutter, anywhere in the bed room, especially under your bed, keeps your mind more connected to the past and does not allow you to progress forward. Complete cosmic manifestations, both moving and nonmoving are manifested by different activities of Krishna’s energy. We create many different relationships in this material life with living entities. All these entities are noting but the marginal energy of Krishna. The only think is under the prakriti dharma or creation of the nature, they are seen like our father, mother, son, grandfather, husband, etc. In virtuality, they are the part and parcel of Krishna. The word dhata in the verse means creator. This means, besides father and mother, their creators i.e. grandfather and grandmother are also Krishna. That means all our relations and every living being on the earth is nothing else but Krishna. Hence forth, all the four Vedas aim towards Krishna. All that we want to know or learn about Krishna is nothing but a step towards finding, understanding and reaching Krishna. The
subject matter is also Krishna, which helps us to purify our constitutional position. Even the living entities, which do not have power to understand all Vedic principles, are all part of Krishna and are hence Krishna himself. The word Om is called pranava. Om is a transcendental sound vibration. The word Om in all the Vedic mantras is also Krishna. The pranava or omkara is prominent in all the hymns of the four Vedas i.e. Sāma, Yajur, Rug and Atharvana. And it is clear and to be understood as Krishna. NOVEMBER 2015 | WWW.WISHESH.COM

Indian Events It is generally believed that, Durga emerged from the collective energies of the several gods like Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu, to kill the demon Mahishasura, who could not be defeated by any god or man. In Sanskrit, Durga means “the impenetrable” or “the inaccessible”. She is even treated as lord Ganesh and Karthikeya’s mother. At the annual Navratri festival, Durga is honored with extreme fervor. Navratri means Nine nights, which means nine different forms of Shakti or Durga, are worshipped on each day of the festival. Unlike others, in West Bengal, the festival occurs on the last six days of Navratri. In Bengal, the tenth day is celebrated as Vijayadashami, believing it as Durga’s victory over evil. Along with this, Durga Puja is also celebrated believing it to be the annual visit of Durga and her children, to her ancestral home, and her reunion with Shiva on Vijayadashami. ‘Durga Puja’ is the largest festival of the year for Bengali Hindus. During the festival, by collecting the money from the neighbors, the highly decorated, life-sized idols of
Durga, that depict her slaying Mahishasura are created out of clay and erected at many public places to worship regularly, throughout the five days of the festival period. After five days, they are taken and immersed in a river, implying Durga’s reunion with Shiva. In these five days, devotees stay away from the meat, alcohol, onions, wheat and grains. Navratri ending is considered as the right time to start any kind of new activities or any business.
How did Durga Puja came to fame in Bengal? Until the 17th and 18th centuries, Durga Puja is not famous in Bengal. But, in 1757, an elaborate Puja was held in the honor of Robert Clive by Raja Nabakrishna Deb of Kolkatta. In the Battle of Plassey, Lord Clive wished to pay thanks for his victory. In Bengal, the battle has established the east India company rule, but the only church in Calcutta had been destroyed in it, thus a Puja was held at Deb’s home instead. This trend was then extended to other Bengali families and NOVEMBER 2015 | WWW.WISHESH.COM
Indian Events started performing Pujas, in which east India company’s British officers were the guests of honor. Then the tradition continued in several communities and small groups of people, excluded from the elite family pujas, due to the social status. By the early 20th century, these Pujas are conducted by everyone, irrespective of the caste, creed and religions and created a feeling of unity. The icons and the pandals 108 have started increasing every year and thus got very famous in Bengal, in a short time. Within a few years, even fierce competitions are held among neighborhoods for the best pandals and puja themes. Now, the rich communities even have the corporate sponsorship, for the establishment of the idols and performing the other activities in five days. Thus Durga Puja is considered as the very important festival of Bengal. Though the festival is celebrated in South India too, the actual grandeur can be found only in Bengal.

"10 Endrathukulla" is a road movie written and directed by Vijay Milton of "Goli Soda" fame and bankrolled by leading filmmaker AR Murugadoss.
Story In his previous film Goli Soda, Vijay Milton demonstrated that he can make a familiar masala tale feel fresh with his treatment. 10 Endrathukulla, too, is a masala movie, but strangely, this film lacks the liveliness and inventiveness that made Goli Soda stand out. Rather the focus seems to have shifted from script to scale — smart writing is traded in for exotic locales, larger-than-life characters, over-the-top action choreography and overall blandness.
The first half of the movie has been decent except some flaws with the love story and the chemistry between the lead actors taking the major role. The narration has been completely old fashioned and on the whole the complete first half has been ok. The second half of the movie is a complete downfall and is the major drawback of the movie. The movie has been dragged completely and the major plot has been shot exactly like the original film which is the main drawback. If the director has done some changes, the movie should have been far better. On the whole the complete second half of the movie is a downfall.
Final Word: 10 Endrathukulla is a treat for Vikram fans, while others might find it only mildly entertaining.
