Everything You Need To Know About The Terrorist Attack In France On October 29, 2020, at the Notre-Dame Basilica, two women and one man were killed with several others getting injured. All the World leaders stood in support of France after this terrifying attack. Members of the European Council expressed their shock and sadness over the attack. The knife was a 17-centimeter blade. He was inside the church for 30 minutes. Later on, he was severely wounded by the police and later hospitalized. This attack prompted the French Government to improve its security hours before a nationwide coronavirus lockdown. In less than 2 months, this was the third attack in France’s Mediterranean city of Nice. The French authorities feel that the criminals are Muslim extremists. They think so because this incident happened right after a French schoolteacher- Samuel Paty was beheaded by an 18-year-old teenager on the outskirts of Paris after he showed caricatures depicting Prophet Muhammad during a lesson. After an attack in Nice, there was a knifestabbing attempt at France’s southeastern city of Avignon and another one at the French Consulate in Saudi Arabia. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the recent terrorist attack in France. He expressed his support by saying that India stands with France in the fight against terrorism.
The UAE’s Foreign Affairs Ministry issued a statement expressing strong condemnation of the criminal act and drew light on permanently rejecting all forms of violence inconsistent with religious and humanitarian principles and values. Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, was completely against the attack and asked civilized to stand up with France. In his tweets, he expressed shock and condemnation for this atrocious attack. Donald Trump showed his support by standing for France as always. In his tweets, he said that all are with the people of France. Apart from this, he stressed immediately stopping these radical Islamic terrorist attacks, and no country, France, or otherwise would tolerate this sort of an act. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the terrorist attack and stressed how Saudi Arabia rejects practices that generate hatred, violence, and extremism that disrespects religions, human beliefs, and common sense.
Perks Of Childcare Leave For Govt Employee Single Male Parent
On October 26, 2020, Male government employees were informed that they will now be entitled to Child Care Leave (CCL), says the Union Minister, Jitendra Singh.
According to Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, these sudden decisions have been made in the Department of Personnel and Training in the last 6 years.
This change has been introduced as it is one of the reforms brought by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
These welfare measures are introduced to motivate a Government employee to give his best at work. Apart from this, there is no lenience towards corruption or nonperformance.
The leave will be valid for only those employees who happen to be a ‘single male parent’. This includes divorcees, widowers, and not married male employees who alone have to take up child care as a single parent. The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions had issued this order regarding the CCL for a single male parent some time back. However, they didn’t receive proper circulation in the public. Besides, another welfare measure for a disabled child was introduced wherein a government servant can avail CCL for a disabled child of any age.
The Union Minister says that these major relaxations with regards to the reforms are brought forward under the Modi government. A Government employee who wishes to leave can do so by informing the competent authority in prior. Leave Travel Concession would still be provided to the employee who is on Child Care Leave. CCL would be permitted at 100% of the leave salary for the first 365 days and 80% of leave salary for the next 365 days.

Kalamezhuthu Hunt Of The Sacred Groves! Introduction This is a ritualistic pictorial form of beautiful and aesthetic art that depicts the beauty of Kerala. It is a tribal temple ritual comprising of drawings dedicated to Gods like Vetekaran, Ayyappan, etc. This creative concept has an aesthetic, religious, and social concept.

Significance In this form of art, white powder from nature is taken to make two or three-dimensional drawings on the floor. Along with the powder, white, black, yellow, and red colors are used to complete the drawing. The background gives a velvety touch and the decorations or illusions are usually a combination of circles, squares, lines, and dots. This art has a tantric style and the figures drawn look alive. Apart from this, the oil lamps lit around the drawing makes it look lively and sacred.
The act of lighting lamps is known as thiri uzhichil and this is one form of worship. Kalamezhuthu is a mystical art of designs, loud rhythmic music, stylized movements, and masques centered around the concept of light in the darkness. This ritual is performed all night and it is a typical Kerala style of art. Drawings are made on the floor, face, or body. One of the interesting aesthetic facts of this form of art is that the dance form Kathakali picks colors, facial make-up, and costume from here.

The choice of colors is influenced by climatic conditions.
Details Kalamezhuthu is a blend of Geetham and vadyam. Since this art focuses on music, you would get to witness the drawings of a chenda, drum, chiming cymbals, and a sound couch connected to the deity. This is traditionally known as thottam paattu and many other instruments such as thayampaka and pancha vadyam originated from here. This form of art has a religious significance as it depicts deities such as Bhagavati, Bhadrakali, Ayyappa, Siva Putra, Sarpa, and Darika. For every diety, a special shloka is recited and the priest performs a puja. It takes around 2-4 hours to complete a drawing. Pigments are derived from rice, charcoal, turmeric, lime, and green leaves to attain colors like black, white, yellow, red, and green. A few Kalamezhutu drawings personify aggression through weapons.
Success Story Since 2000, Kalamezhuthu as a form of art has been doing well and it is quite famous.
Religious View Point This wonderful art unites space, time, and action from a mythical past. It talks of a struggle between good and bad.
Social Aspect Kalams describes belief systems and complexities in society. Apart from this, you would get to see a social hierarchy and each caste has its own belief system interdependent on the other. You would even get to know how the lower castes fulfilled the needs of the upper class and how power was balanced.
Psychological Importance The drawings had psychological and physical benefits. The powder used to draw kalam had healing properties. The kalam drawings portrayed protection, production, and destruction. They drew a mother goddess who appeared in various forms. She depicts strength for fertility and abundance, provides protection from the fear of evil, and shows the destruction of enemies. On the whole, this art is healing.
Temple committees are keen on this art form. During several temple utsavams, artists are paid Rs 2000-3000 per day.

Mangalore
Mangalore is a progressive city and people from different cities and communities choose this place for their job, children’s education, and for many other reasons. Kerala is close to Mangalore and the culture is more or less similar in both places. It is even seen as a hub for education. Most of the coffee and cashew exports are handled in Mangalore’s ports. The city is exactly in between the Arabian Sea and the Western Ghats. You will love this city for its mountains, coconut trees, red crafted walls, and water streams. This city has been ruled by several rulers such as Hyder Ali and Tippu Sultan. In 1799, the British conquered this city and it continued to remain a part of the Madras Presidency. In Dakshina Kannada district, Mangalore is a non-metro and large city. It is named after a Goddess named Mangaladevi. Back then, there was a princess named Parimala or Premaladevi from Malabar. As a disciple of the founder of Nath-Matsyendranath tradition, she was called Mangaladevi after getting converted as Premaladevi to religion Nath. She lived close to Bolar, fell ill, and then died. In her memory, citizens of that town made the temple of Mangaladevi and the city got that name.
From the seventh to end of the fourteenth century, the Alupa rulers ruled South Canara. By 1345, it was ruled by the Vijayanagar Empire. From 1345-1550, during the period of the Vijayanagara dynasty, South Canara was divided into Mangalore and some areas of Barkur. To handle the area from Barkur to Mangalore, there were two Governors. This city has had many foreign travelers. In the History, a roman historian named Pliny noted a place called Nitrias during the first century and it wasn’t apt for landing due to the pirate’s regular visit. Later during the second century, a Greek historian named Ptolemy found a place named Nitra. Both of them referred to the Netravati River flowing through Mangalore.
Religion The citizens of Mangalore are called Mangaloreans and people who belong to different religions reside here. There are many Hindu’s and they are the Chief groups of people are Mogaveeras, Ganigas, Billavas, Bunts, Kota Brahmins, Havyaka Brahmins, Shivalli Brahmins, Jains and Goud Saraswat Brahmins. There are Christians and Muslims as well. Mangalore has around 34,000 Protestants in Southern Indian Church that takes an authority over Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kodagu, Chamarajanagar, Mysore and Hassan. Under Christianity, Protestantism is one of the major divisions after the Roman Catholics in Dakshina Kannada.
People living in Mangalore call the city by different names. Individuals speaking in Tulu call it Kudla and all the Konkani-speaking people refer to the city as Kodiyal.
History Mangalore is the hometown of the Tulu speaking people. From the 3rd to 6th centuries, the Canara region maintained independent power. OCTOBER 2020 | WWW.WISHESH.NET
INDIAN DIASPORA CULTURE & TRADITION In 1834, the Basel missionaries came to Mangalore with an intention to spread the Gospel and the local people looked for more than just the word of God. While searching for social equality and economic progress, many Billavas accepted Protestantism. They believed that Protestantism promised freedom and equality. In the 1850, it was reported that nine of the ten converted people of the missionaries in Basel were Billavas. These people were neither given education nor were they given equal rights.
Literature Among the Protestants, Ferdinand Kittel was a prominent figure who studied Kannada, Tulu and Sanskrit. 18
In 1894, Kannada’s English Dictionary was first printed by him and in 1903, the Kannada Language Grammar in English was printed. Apart from this, he even wrote several Kannada poems. In 1843, the first Kannada-language newspaper ‘ Mangalooru Samachar’ was published by Herman Friedrich Mogling who got a Ph.D. from Kannada, Bibliotheca Karnataka, for his literary work. In 1866, Rev A Manner published the first TuluEnglish dictionary.
Mangalore has lively dance, drama, and music. During festivals such as Kudlotsava and Karavali Utsav, there are many state and national level competitions held. People perform folk dances. One of the most famous folk dance of Mangalore is known as Yakshagana. This is a drama and dance concert that goes on all night.
BeM Theological Seminary translated Kannada’s literature to German. In 1860, Plebot set up the first tile manufacturing factory called Basel Mission right after finding Gurupura and Nethravathi Rivers large deposits of clay that was situated on the banks of the Nethravathi River.
During Dussehra and Janmastami, a unique folk dance of Mangalore named Pilivesha is performed. Another bear dance known as Karadi Vesha is performed. With the help of sticks, another folk dance named Kolata is performed.

Food Mangalorean’s make South Indian style food. Their staple food is fish curry and rice. Their food is made with a lot of coconut, curry leaves, ginger, garlic, and chili. Individuals in the Tulu community ate Kori Rotti, Bangude Pulimunchi, Beeja-Manoli Upkari, Neer Dosa, Chicken Ghee Roast, Chicken Sukka, Boothai Gasi, Kadabu,Masala Dosa and Patrode. Apart from this, some of the other Mangalore special dishes are Daali thoy, beebe-upkari (cashew based), val val, avnas ambe sasam, Kadgi chakko and Sanna-Dukra Maas (Sanna – idli fluffed with toddy or yeast Dukra Maas pork). Some of the famous Mangalorean pickles are happala, sandige, and puli munchi. One of the well-known liquor of Mangalore is known as Khali. It is made of coconut flower’s sap. and Unjal Pat is yet another traditional lullaby that is commonly sung. Diving into the depth of the culture and tradition, there is a traditional tiger dance known as Hulivesha. A buffalo race known as Kambala and a cock fight called Korikatta that takes place in Mangalore. According to the Gregorian Calendar, the Catholic religious procession takes place on first Sunday of the New Year. The museums of Mangalore are filled with antique collections. Two of the most famous places are Aloyseum and Srimanthi Bhai Memorial Government. Aloyseum has pieces of the Berlin wall, Mangalore’s first car, whale skeleton, coins and medals of ancient kingdoms.
Festivals Every year in Mangalore, Dusshera, Ganesh Chaturti, and Janmastami are celebrated on a grand scale. Apart from this, Kodial Theru or Mangaluru Rathotsava (Mangalore Car Festival) is one of the major festivals of the the Sri Venkatramana Temple. In the Mangalorean Community, Monti Fest is one of the major festivals. During these festivals, people celebrate the Nativity feast and the blessing of new crops. The Jain Food Festival is annually organized by the Jain Community. Many people participate to celebrate Mosaru Kudike as it marks the Krishna Janmashtami festival. The victory of good over bad calls for the celebration of Dussehra. The gigantic blissfulness in performing rituals and making the most of this festival is divine. In India, several traditions and customs are followed in the Northern and Southern parts of the country. This religious day is celebrated in the month of Ashvina, seventh month of the year after the appearance of the full moon. Interestingly, there are many stories, beliefs, and facts around this auspicious day. Here are a few things you didn’t know about Dusshera.
No 1 - Ambivalent About The
Sunrise
The term Dusshera is derived from two Sanskrit words. ‘Dasha’ - sun and ‘Hara’ - defeat. When Ravana and Rama were battling against each other, it was believed that if Ravana wouldn’t be killed at the earliest, the sun wouldn’t rise. Therefore, Lord Rama won against Ravana and he was glorified.

On the auspicious occasion of Dusshera, Mahishasura was blessed with the gift of immortality by Lord Brahma. Unfortunately, he misused those blessings and created a ruckus on earth. In addition, the asuras attained power over God’s. Lord Vishnu, Brahma, and Shiva met
and decided to create the powerful Durga who was a combined power of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. The City and Village Rat Story There were two rats, one lived in a city and the other one in a village. Both the rats kept in touch and would find out about each other from the rats who traveled to the village and city. One day, the city rat decided to meet his village rat friend and made it to the village. The village rat was happy to welcome his friend. Both the rats were dressed differently. The village rat wore a traditional dress like dhoti, kurta, and a cap, with a garland in his hand. The city rat wore a suit, boots, and necktie. They hugged each other and were pleased.

STORY FOR KIDS Both the rats spoke to each other about different things. The village rat boasted about fresh and unpolluted air while comparing it to be better than the impure air in cities. The village and city rat had a meal together and then went out for a walk around the village. The village rat asked the city rat if he enjoyed this sort of scenic beauty in the city ever. However, the city rat invited the village rat to visit the city and enjoy its comfort too. The village rat went there and was amazed to relish many dishes prepared and kept on the table. What the village rat loved the most was a piece of paneer. 26
While eating paneer, both the village and city rat heard the voice of a cat. The city rat told the village rat to hide below the almirah before the cat could find them. Both of them rushed to that spot and hid themselves to escape danger. After a while when both the city and village rat got out, the city rat asked the village rat to happily eat and not worry much as this is common in cities. Somehow the village rat gathered courage and continued to eat the cake it left unfinished. Unfortunately, it couldn’t complete the cake and they had to hide again after a boy reached that place with a dog. The village rat was more scared this time and thanked the city rat for all he did for him and immediately left from that place. On reaching the village, he was relieved from stress and understood the value of life.

The Lonely Snowman Story For centuries, there lived a snowman named Yadred. He was always busy feeding a yak or sheep on his way. This snowman was covered with white hair because of the snow and icy winds. People were afraid of him although he was a friendly man. Yadred was the only snowman left on earth. In childhood, he moved from the Arctic zone to the Himalayas with his uncle and father. In the past, change in the altitude had troubled all his family members. Only his uncle’s daughter and he could escape it. After this, he married his Uncle’s daughter.
In an avalanche, his wife had died 500 years ago. He was lonely ever since. The couple was not blessed with children for him to have some company after his wife died. The snowman enjoyed his freedom at first but felt lonely later on. A lot of times, to beat loneliness, he visited all the humans who camped in mountains. However, they thought he was a giant bear and ran away screaming in fear. Yadred didn’t look any different. He resembled the humans and what was unusual about him was his height and hairy body. One day Yadred wondered where all these humans came from and he followed them to their villages. Wherever he went, people either stared at him or got scared and ran away. Method No-1 Boil the dal in a pressure cooker. Add 3 cups water and allow 5 whistles to blow. Let the dal cook well. No-2 After you put off the flame, allow all the pressure to fizzle down and check if the dal has been cooked well or not. Mash the dal and let it remain in the cooker. No-3 Take a Kadai, ghee, cumin seeds, green chilies, and curry leaves. Then, add tomato and saute this until it gets soft and mashed. No-4 Simmer the flame and add turmeric, chili powder, pepper, amchur, and a pinch of asafoetida. Stir and saute all of it until you get the fragrance of all spices. No-5 Now, add all the mashed dal into the masala and sprinkle a little water for the masalas and dal to blend well. Add jaggery and salt as per your requirement. No-6 Allow this dal to boil well for a few minutes. No-7 Put off the flame and add garam masala and coriander leaves. Stir it well. No-8 Once the dal is made, follow these steps to make pakwan. No-9 Take a bowl, add wheat flour, maida, pepper, ajwain, cumin seeds, rava, ajwain, and the required amount of salt. No-10 Stir this mixture well and add sufficient oil to this atta mixture. No-11 Mix oil all around the atta as much as you can and add sufficient water to perfectly knead this mixture. No-12 Make equal size balls of this dough and roll them flat. No-12 Before frying the pakwan, take a fork, poke it all across the rolled dough so that it doesn’t get puffed after you fry it. Method Method of this recipe is divided into two parts. Part 1 - Preparation of dry masalas . Part 2 - Chicken marination. Part 3 - Final Cooking. Part 1 - Preparation of dry masalas for the fry In a pan add - coriander seeds(2 tbsp), cinnamon(2 bits), cloves(8), green cardamom(4), jeera(1/2 tsp), fennel seeds(1/4 tsp). Stir these ingredients on low flame. Allow it to cool down and grind everything to make it a fine powder. Grind onions and cashew nuts into a fine paste.
Part 2 - Chicken Marination Separately mix the following ingredients and marinate all the chicken in this mixture. You will add - ground onions and cashew paste, ghee, red chili powder, lemon juice, turmeric, ginger garlic paste, garam masala powder and 2 tbsp water. Allow all the chicken to soak in this mixture for about 20 minutes. Now add a little water and cook it until all the chicken turns soft. Let this chicken stay aside for a while.
Part 3 - Finally Cooking The Fry Take another pan, add oil as per your requirement, curry leaves, and green chilies. Keep stirring this mixture until it turns crispy and you can enjoy its fragrance. Trump To Remove A Lottery-Based Computerized System For Selecting H-1B Visas According to analysts, the US decides to replace a lottery-based system for H-1B visas with a wage-based selection process so that there is a talent movement restriction by Indians and India-centric IT services companies. Instead of a lottery, they prefer to have a wage-based selection process as this would help them rank petitions on the highest wage offered by employers. Most of the visas are based on wage-level selection as this can drastically increase the cost of deploying software engineers on projects in the U.S. Only a few H-1B visas are allotted to Indians. For 4 years, Trump Administration is in favor of US Technology Companies for a work permit when compared to Indian IT Services Companies. According to the US Department of Homeland Security, the best way to allocate H1B visas is by sticking to a wage level selection instead of a random selection process. If this initiative is seriously proposed, the employers would need to offer higher wages or petition for positions requiring higher skills and higherskilled workers instead of using this program to simply fill lower-paid vacancies. This proposed rule would benefit American Workers as well as strengthen the Economy. Often times, H-1B visas are not valued by US employers and clients as they are looking forward to hiring foreign workers by paying them lower wages. Apart from this, businesses might see a difficulty in their hiring process, and not leveraging the H1B program is not the right way of competing for the world’s bright future. This would even hurt the American Workers by offering them low-paid foreign labor causing a hindrance to the American workforce. Indian companies can hire professionals who are at wage level IV. This means, all the top-level
employees would be able to enter the US. In addition, Rajiv Khanna, the managing partner at Immigration.com mentions the need to have qualified people to work and safeguard the US workforce. 2021 To Be Altered By Arabia Saudi plans to revoke Kafala and aims at replacing it with a new form of contract between employees and employers. Kafala is a foreign worker sponsorship system. This year, there are plans to improve the oil-based economy and there have been ideas implemented to boost the private sector to attract foreign talent and even because Saudi Arabia is hosting the Group of 20 major economies(G-20) this year.

Kafala system has been there for seven decades now. What happens is an employee/migrant worker is bound to stay to one employer which inturn exploits workers. This system is criticized by rights groups. In 2021, there would be a new initiative introduced by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development on improving the contractual relationship between the employer and expatriate workers. As of now, there are more than 10 million workers surviving under the Kafala system and are sponsored or obligated under a Saudi employer to get an exit or reentry visa when they wish to leave the country.

Lee Kun-hee, Samsung Electronics Chairman Passes Away at 78 On 25th October, Samsung’s Electronics chairman Lee Kun-hee, who had a big hand in transforming the South Korean firm into a global tech titan, passed away at the age of 78. It was under his guidance and leadership that Samsung rose to become the world’s largest producer of smartphones and memory chips. Today, the firm’s overall turnover is almost a fifth of South Korea’s GDP.

BECA Agreement Signed Between
US And India
On October 27, 2020, India and the U.S. signed the BECA agreement - (Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement for Geo-Spatial Cooperation) after they had the third round of 2+2 Ministerial dialogue. This was announced after Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, US Counterpart Mark Esper, and the US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo finished their discussion. As a part of this agreement, militaries of both nations would get to access geo-spatial data, high-end military technology, and classified satellite data on defense-related issues. Excellent Initiative ‘Meri Saheli’ Launched By Indian Railways In September 2020, the Indian Railways initiated a pilot project in the South Eastern Railway considering women’s safety in trains by collecting feedback from women passengers. From October 17, 2020, it got extended to all the zones and the Konkan Railway. This ‘Meri Saheli’ initiative was first launched by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) for the safety of the women passengers. Under this initiative, women would be provided safety and security in their entire journey from where they start until the destination station. A team of young women RPF personnel would interact with all the women passengers. They would especially focus on women traveling alone. Every woman passenger would be asked to dial 182 in case they face issues in their coach. The entire RPF team would collect only the seat numbers of ladies. The RPF personnel would be at the stopping stations en-route and watch over the coaches concerned and berths. In case of any emergency, they would even interact with all the women passengers. During their duty, the RPF escorts would keep a check on the identified berths/coaches.
At every destination, all the lady passengers would be asked for feedback, the RPF team will collect it and take necessary action if required. Lastly, according to the Railway Ministry, if there is a distress call from a train covered under the ‘Meri Saheli’ initiative, all the senior officers would monitor the call. On October 24th, 2020, ICICI Bank closes down its operations after Sri Lankan Monetary Authority approved it. In a regulatory filing, ICICI Bank said that the Monetary Board of Central Bank of Sri Lanka considered their request and granted the license issued to the bank. “The Director of Bank Supervision being satisfied with the bank complying with the terms and conditions imposed by the Monetary Board, the license issued to the bank to carry on banking business in Sri Lanka is canceled with effect from October 23, 2020,� the private sector lender said. October’s GST Collection Crosses Rs 1 lakh crore According to the finance ministry, till October 31, 2020, the total number of GSTR-3B returns filed is 80 lakh. In October, the GST increased to Rs 1.05 lakh crore for the first time after February. This is a good sign as the economic activity and demand are slowly picking up. In the month of October last year, the GST collected was Rs95,379 crore, and this year in the same month, there is a 10% increase in the GST collected this year. According to the ministry, The GST revenue collected in October 2020 is Rs 1,05,155 crore. Out of which, CGST is Rs 19,193 crore, SGST is Rs 5,411 crore, IGST is Rs 52,540 crore (including Rs 23,375 crore collected on import of goods) and cess is Rs 8,011 crore (including Rs 932 crore collected on import of goods). After COVID-19 started to spread, economic activities came to a standstill. All the GST collections reduced drastically. Even though the GST collection has reduced in the past few months, it has started picking up now.
In February, the GST revenue was Rs 1.05 lakh crore, March Rs 97,597 crore, April Rs 32,172 crore, May Rs 62,151 crore, June Rs 90,917 crore, July Rs 87,422 crore, August Rs 86,449 crore and September Rs 95,480 crore. If this trend continues, it would cover up the fiscal deficit for FY21 and the business confidence across several sectors would pick up. In addition, the same trend is expected to continue in November too. Apart from festivities, Abhishek Jain, an EY Tax Partner says this increase in demand could also be because of the input tax credit/other similar reconciliations that were due for businesses in September. Launched By ISRO On November 7th
On November 7th, 2020, from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, 9 customer satellites aboard PSLV-C49 and the earth observation satellite EOS01 would be launched by The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The ISRO website, Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube channels would show a live telecast of the entire launch. It is scheduled for 3.02 pm on 7th November and its launch is dependent on weather conditions. 50
After March, this is ISRO’s first launch. In June, ISRO Chairman, K Sivan had mentioned a delay in ten space missions due to the lockdown this year. No media would be allowed to gather and view the launch based on the COVID-19 pandemic norms at the launch center.

Export Of Onion Seeds Banned In India On October 29,2020, the Director-General of Foreign Trade issued a notification on the Government’s decision to ban onion seeds with immediate effect. Given the increase in onion prices in the domestic market and shortage of onion seeds the next sowing season, this ban has been imposed.
(DGFT) said that the Para 1.05 of Foreign Trade Policy 2015-20 regarding transitional arrangement shall not be applicable under the notification.
Piyush Goyal, the Union Commerce Minister has to say that the decision of banning onion seeds was made by the government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bring down onion prices and make it affordable for consumers.
Exporting onions is now placed under the restricted category and this clearly means that an exporter would need a license or permission from the government for shipment of the product.
The only exception to this decision is that the Directorate General of Foreign Trade
To boost the availability of onion in the domestic market and provide relief
to consumers, a stock holding limit on retail and wholesale traders till December 31 has been decided by the Center. As per the stock holding limit, retailers can stock only 2 tonnes of onions while wholesale traders can stock up to 25-tonne onions. In the last couple of weeks, due to rainfall, many of the Kharif crops are damaged and due to this onion prices have drastically increased.

Matangini Hazra Mantangini Hazra was not known to all of us. However, she played a significant role like that of a freedom fighter who stood up for the country in her best possible way.

She was a part of the Quit India Movement and the Non-Cooperation Movement. Despite being shot thrice during a procession, even then she kept saying “Vande Mataram” Hazra was born on 19th October 1870 and passed away on 29th September 1942. She was called Gandhi Buri, this means old lady Gandhi. She was the daughter of a poor peasant and had not received any formal education. Sadly, she was married and became a widow at a young age. In 1905, she became a Gandhian in the Indian Independence Movement. In 1932, she was arrested for standing up for the salt act and was part of the civil disobedience movement. At Baharampur, she was arrested another time for 6 months. She became an active member of the Indian National Congress and spun her own Khadi. In 1933, at Serampore, she attended a subdivisional Congress Conference and because of the baton charge by the police, she was injured.
When Hazra turned 72, she was part of a procession that had 6,000 women supporters that aimed at taking over the Tamluk police station. After this procession reached the outskirts of the town, they were dissolved under Section 144 of the Indian Penal Code by the Crown Police. As she took a step ahead to convince the police not to open the fire, she was shot. While Matangini led the procession and the firing started, she continued to stand for the tri-color flag and leaving all the volunteers, the police shot her thrice and despite wounds on her forehead and hands, she kept marching and saying “Vande Matram”. Many schools, colonies, and streets were named after Hazra. In 1977, Hazra’s statue was the first woman’s statue to be installed in Kolkata. The Department of posts of India issued a five rupee postage stamp with Matangini Hazra’s likeness in 2002 as part of a series of postage stamps commemorating sixty years of the Quit India Movement and the formation of the Tamluk National Government.

Everything You Need To Know About Chand Dynasty In the early 7th century, Raja Som Chand established the Chand Kingdom. In 1815, he called his state Kurmanchal and established its capital in Champawat Fort and the capital city of Kali Kumaon, Champawat. WWW.WISHESH.NET | OCTOBER 2020
This name is used till date and it is found on a number of copper plates of that time. In the Kumaon empire, the Chand rule is seen as the most prominent empire. Between the 7th to 18th centuries, Kumaon did well under the Chand Monarchs. In addition, the Pahari school of art and new forms of painting developed. Raja Baz Bahadur Chand (1638 – 78) AD was one of the most powerful rulers of the Chand dynasty. In 1655 he attacked Garhwal and captured the Terai region and Dehradun. Raja Baz Bahadur Chand was highly talented and smart, he built the Golu Devta Temple at Gorakhal, near Bhimtal, and Bhimeshwara Mahadev Temple at Bhimtal.
Rulers of the Chand dynasty built the “Baleshwar Temple”. It comprises of a stone carving and was first built between 10-12 century A.D. There were no historical manuscripts that describe the Baleshwar temple. In the former capital city, during the 11th and 12th centuries, the Nagnath temples were built. After that, in 1563, the capital was shifted to Almora by Raja Kalyan Chand and he provided a foundation to a town called Rajapur. OCTOBER 2020 | WWW.WISHESH.NET
INDIAN HISTORY Temples like Tripur Sundari, Udyot Chandeshwar, and Parbateshwar were built in Almora. Towards the end of the 17th century, Raja Udyot Chand erected several temples in Almora, to mark the victory over Garhwal and Doti. In 1698 and 1699, Raja Gyan Chand ascended the throne and he attacked Garhwal, defeating the remaining Garhwali forces in the battle of Daduli (near Melchauri in Garhwal). After this, there were a lot of wars. In 1707 the Kumaon forces took over Juniyagarh in Bichla Chaukot (Syalde) and destroyed the old fort at Chandpur. After that, Raja Jagat Chand (1708 – 1720) defeated the Raja of Garhwal and extended his rule.

Rajwars of Askot were defeated by the Chand Kings. However, Rajwars of Askot were permitted to hold their land on payment of a tribute. For all the Chand kings, the hill station of Binsar, 30 km from Almora was a summer retreat. The Chand Kingdom was taken care of by a large number of Hindu groups. They protected the area with a fortress. Every fortress was spread around the western portion of Kumaon. This area was fertile and thus referred to a Garhwal. “The country of fortresses” The Chand kingdom had to face several attacks. In the sixteenth century, 1635, the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan I (r. 1628 – 1658) entered as an enemy and attacked Kumaon. However, Kumaon defeated them. The Chand Kingdom includes Kumaon, Garhwal, Himachal, J&K, Mahakali Anchal,

Seti Anchal, Bheri Anchal, Karnali Anchal, Rapti Anchal, Dhawalagiri Anchal, Gandaki Anchal, Lumbini Anchal, and the Transhimalaya region of Tibet. It even stretched up to Afghanistan, Nepal, and Tibet. Further, they touched the plains of UP too. If you go to see, even today, Uttarakhand, Tibet, and the Nepal culture are similar and this influence is because they are all a part of the Chand Dynasty. How Did The Dynasty Come To An End? The Chand Army was not strong under Kalyan Chand. In 1744, Ali Mohammed Khan, the Rohilla leader, sent a force to Chand Territory
through Bhimtal in Nainital district to Almora and in a span of seven months, the Almoras came into the control of Rohillas. Somehow, after a while, by paying them a sum of rupees 3 lakhs, they could manage to send back the Rohillas. For a while peace sustained and Mohammed Khan came back again to attack as he couldn’t digest losing. This time it was a different scenario, he couldn’t enter as he was stopped at the entrance and was defeated. After this, no Muslim rulers came to attack the Kumaon Kingdom. In 1761, the Kumaon kingdom fought with the Rohillas in the third battle of Panipat. In 1779, Lalit Shah, a Garhwal king captured the Kumaon region and made his son Parduman
Shah the king of that territory. After a while, his brother died and he took care of Kumaon and Garhwal for a year. Then moved to Srinagar. In 1790, Gurkhas came and took over the Kumaon Hills and Almora under Maharajadhiraj Prithvi Narayan Shah. They moved ahead, crossed river Kali, Gangoli, and they finally went to Bhabhar where they were thrown out. After this, Nepalese came in, they ruled, and finally, a strong British army under Colonel Nichols attacked Almora on April 26th, 1815. That day a truce was called and after signing the Treaty of Sugauli on 4th March 1816, Kumaon and Garwal were taken over by the British. OCTOBER 2020 | WWW.WISHESH.NET

At the Venkateswara Temple of Tirupati, the Brahmotsavam festival is celebrated. This festival lasts for 9 days and 8 deities are taken for a procession around the temple. Usually, the grand Golden Chariot is used for the procession on the eighth day and the temple flag is brought down on the last day. This festival is celebrated in many Lord Vishnu, Sri Rangam Ranganatha, and Sri Vaishnava temples in the southern part of India. As per mythological stories, a Brahmotsavam prayer was performed by Brahma for Lord Vishnu. That being said, you would always find Shiva, Bramha, and Vishnu at the Suchidram Sthaumalaya Temple. Once, Lord Brahma offered prayers thanking Lord Balaji for securing humankind. After that, Brahma started conducting this festival at Tirupati.
